A none day, I stayed indoor all day due to the howling gale.
Lizzie I do not have much bindweed n the garden thank goodness but plenty of goose grass which gets into the dog and cat's fur. It can be very uncomfortable if it wraps itself around bare arms or legs when weeding it out.My main weeds are field grass, creeping buttercups, nettles and primarily brambles. All from the fields surrounding my patch.
None of the veg.seed I sowed are through yet. (Rearranged by the cat of course). I cannot believe I will get any fruit on my tomatoes, the plants are still so small. A small consolation was when I saw the tomatoplants for sale in the local GC, they weren't much bigger than my own.

        Good morning everyone,

Nice to see you back @Dordogne Damsel, and good to hear that your friend is making progress and that Charlie is doing so well.

Those statues are very good, @Dovefromabove. They must look very striking on the beach.

It’s a fine day at the moment, although rather overcast. The forecast looks to be improving for the next few days, but I’d better just whisper that . I hope it does, because I’ve got tomatoes developing, but they are still extremely green. They desperately need some sunshine on them.

I’ve got a few plants to pot up, so plan to do those shortly, the job has been put on hold for various reasons, but today must be the day :).

            Morning all,

            Thank-you all for your very kind words @Ladybird4 , @Dovefromabove , @AuntyRach . @Bluejayway , @pattie , @Busy-Lizzie , @Penny_Forthem , @lizzie27 , @Blue arbour , @Dordogne Damsel , @Tui34 . The kindness of you very good people means a great deal to me.

Very nice to see @Dordogne Damsel back here again, and also good to hear that Laurent is recovering so well from his very major surgery, and that Charlie is enjoying great running success.

Here - as promised/threatened yesterday - are photos of the two flowers which I am unable to recognise (the problem is that I sowed so many seeds in the Spring - trying to sow seeds more quickly than the birds could eat them - that I'm afraid I lost track) . The pink-purple flower has "spidery" foliage below it which belongs to it (please ignore the poppy leaves behind it).
            IMG_3972.JPG

There is also this rich red and yellow flower (again ignore the big, lighter green poppy leaves).
            IMG_3970.JPG

If any kind soul can recognise either one, that would be wonderful.

Have a safe day out there good people.

                Hi all

How remiss of me, realised I haven't said hello today.
Nothing interesting happening here, think I am doing ok., but so hard to know.
Our postal votes arrived this morning, as hopefully we will be away on Election day. I remember our postal votes for BREXIT never arrived and we were on safari in the wilds of Botswana, so didn't get the result for several days. I spent the whole time worrying that our 2 votes might have been important!

So many of you that I remember from GW forum. Good to finally find and catch up with you all and see some good news.
Dog No 3 is at the groomers (my DiL's mum!) and we've been shopping and taken stuff up to the caravan, ready for our 3 night stay this weekend. It's only 9 miles from home, in the Clwydian Hills and so very, very quiet!
Not received our postal votes yet.
                  Very striking sculptures there, @Dovefromabove.

                    Afternoon everybody,
Brilliant sunshine again, could get used to this! Managed to survive our first day's fasting ok, better than expected although I did give in to hunger pangs just before bedtime and devoured a small banana. Doing it again tomorrow.

Lovely to 'see' you again @Dordogne Damsel, I had wondered how you were getting on and whether your new OH was ok. Great to hear Charlie doing well and enjoying running, as well as you.

Think you've got your plants identified by now @Badly_Maintained , hope the scan goes ok.

                    Enjoy the Cheshire Festival @pattie

Gosh, those statues are big @Dovefromabove, they'd give me a fright if I came across them in the dark! There's a bit of a row going on in Salisbury apparently over a wooden modern art sculpture dumped right in front of the Cathedral. Rather inappropriate for the location I feel.

Have a good journey home @Busy-Lizzie.

                      Wednesday, 80 degrees, to hot.
@lizzie27 , when we are at our Airbnb, we work, staining the deck railings, up and down the stairs, fending off the horse flies, sleeping in strange bed. Before we leave have to get house ready for guests arriving that day. Then of course the driving. But I am now dealing with deer tick aftermath, got Lyme --on antibiotics for it, and my legs have horse fly bits on them, even though I sprayed myself with stuff. If I wear long pants it will be hot. Would I ever live down there full time, never. Nice place to visit in the winter time. Still tired. Takes me a week to get back to normal after those trips. Have to treat myself to a facial or something.

                      well onward.

I find our journey exhausting too @redstar, driving from SW France, over 7 hours, then going through passports, then 4hr ferry crossing, then 4 hours drive to Norfolk, east England. We usually stay a night with OH's daughter or we take a longer ferry and a shorter drive in France and stay with friends in west England. We don't have to get our cottage ready for B&B though, unless we get beds made for friends or family.

We are now in OH's cottage in Norfolk. The garden is looking colourful but needs deadheading and tidying.

We've been to Sainsbugs for some food and a picnic for the journey to Yorkshire on Friday. Lake District on Sunday.

I would love to take one more trip to France next year, but the thought of the journey from North Wales to Portsmouth is daunting. More so than driving in France. As OH doesn't drive, it's all on my shoulders.

Yes, the weather is looking to be set fair for a few days at least. That will give many the chance to work in the garden. Self included.
Yes, we have ivy, bindweed, goose grass and lots of self-seeded (and self rooted) Japanese anemones. Plenty of mini holly plants, in so many places. I'd like to pot them up, as it seems a waste to dispose of so many plants 6-9inches high.

Shades of Anthony Gormley - most impressive.
I had a marvellous day at the Cheshire show and the weather was wonderful - toasty warm. Loved seeing all the critters and the animals weren't bad either! Quite a few school groups there who were all super excited and itching to get away from their teachers. Whenever I see Pony Club members, images of Thelwell's little riders on big fat ponies spring into mind.
@Busy-Lizzie, your garden has certainly burgeoned since the last picture we saw of it. Gorgeous.
