That must feel rubbish @Badly_Maintained. The love and support you give to that family is not just today, so don’t let it sting too much.

My patio rose (that was once a sad specimen heading for the compost) is blooming away too. The foliage is a bit ropey but the flowers are really cute.

Just back from Diddle-e-Dee - I now have some snacks for my 12 hour shift tomorrow and a set of small pruners (which look lethal to be fair).

      Afternoon everybody,
What a flaming nuisance @Badly_Maintained and what a shame you had to miss the funeral.
I do hope they fast track you for the MRI scan now.
We're doing well here, our usual walk this morning before it got too hot. OH is mending the hole in the shed floor - contents strewn all over the back garden! I'm being rather lazy today and have just repotted a root bound hellebore into a bigger pot and disposed of loads of horrible slugs hiding in my empty pot stash.
Your Norfolk garden looks lovely @Busy-Lizzie, hope you have a good journey tomorrow.

        Good afternoon,

It’s been a pleasant day today - warm but not too hot. I did my Pilates session this morning which helped my back a bit (my own fault, stretching to reach a hanging basket instead of using a step yesterday). It’s getting a bit niggly again now, so perhaps a few more Pilates stretches might help.

Not long back from visiting my cousin in hospital. He needed a few basics taking in, and as he has no family of his own, OH and I got what he needed and took them in. Not sure how much longer he will have to stay in, but they are still monitoring him and rehydrating him, so a few more days at least, I imagine.

Yes, such a nuisance for you @Badly_Maintained, and also such a shame that you had to miss the funeral.

Good evening. Well, e went out for the day. (All your idea @Punkdoc ). Got to Hughenden, only to find it closed, no prior warning, no reason given. So we went to Cliveden instead. Unfortunately the house is a hotel with limited access so we'll have to go again, the grounds and gardens were great though.

Evening all from a very rural and sleepy part of France in the middle of nowhere.

Got off the ferry at about 5pm yesterday and then drove on roads that became progressively quieter as the evening wore on. Reached our intended Aire (official overnight camping place) at about 11.30pm but there were no spaces left. Finally pitched up in a car park in the middle of a tiny quiet village about an hour later. Very quiet night and we were on the road again by 9am leaving behind nothing but our gratitude and tyre marks in the gravel.

Drove another 300 miles to our chosen camp site noting swollen rivers and flooded fields en route and remembering the terrific thunderstorm last night.... We were turned away from the camp site as their grounds are now completely water logged and unusable. We've made it to another site another ninety minutes down the road, but conditions are not much better - everywhere is completely sodden and it's very muddy under foot. Not sure if we'll stay more than one night or not. Lots more rain forecast for tomorrow & the weekend so it will only get worse. Not sure where we'd go as everywhere seems to be in the same boat (ark!).

Forecast to dry up and get hot next week so hopefully things will improve. Weather sounds much better at home!

@Badly_Maintained - so sorry to read your news. Such a shame you had to miss the funeral. Hope you get a new appt soon.

Good evening everyone. I was so sorry to read about your experiences today @Badly_Maintained. I do hope that you haven't to wait too long until another appointment is fixed for you. It must have really hurt not being able to attend the funeral. Sometimes life throws you a curve ball.
I have had a bum of a day - all connected with Virgin Media. I really enjoyed waiting in for 3 hours for an engineer who never turned up and then being told that because they had sorted out the phone problem, they had cancelled the engineer's visit but forgotten to tell me. Hey ho. Alongside other peoples' problems that seems insignificant. Did get some good news - a reminder to book a dental appointment!

Goodness @Topbird, that is not sounding too clever at the moment. I hope that things improve for you.
I really enjoyed the tennis this afternoon - during my fruitless wait and it was good to see the next generation of Brits making such a good show. Feel so sorry for Andy Murray though.

                Thank you @lizzie27.

What a disappointment for you and a waste of time @Badly_Maintained.

@Topbird my son rang today to tell me about storms in SW France and strong winds. I saw in my French online paper that Bordeaux was flooded. I looked on my security cameras and my garden looked OK. I hope you find somewhere drier tomorrow night. Where are you?

We spent most of the day gardening. OH mowed and I deadheaded, cut down and tied up plants and weeded. The garden bin is full, good thing tomorrow is emptying day.

                    Good morning folks!

Sunny, windy and cool here although a fine weekend is forecast.

                    Today is the music festival.

It’s another lovely morning here in Norfolk. Commiserations @Topbird … sounds as if it’s better here than there for once. I hope it brightens and dries out for you soon. . Your garden looks lovely @Busy-Lizzie … mine is still decidedly dishevelled but the perennials and roses are blooming just the same. The runner beans are recovering from the depredations of the slugs and I think we’ll get a crop from them. Not sure about the tomatoes courgettes and squashes tho … think the cold wet weather may have discouraged them too much. They look a bit pathetic. Never mind … we’ve had a good crop of broad beans and there’s still a few more to pick although they’re succumbing to blackfly and chocolate spot now. They’ve never been a problem in this garden before but the weather this year has been perfect for it
