I also think possibly a young stoat … although they do have a tail, and all the ones I’ve seen have a white chin, throat, chest and belly.

For a moment, I thought that might be a baby otter, @lizzie27, but they have tails too. Are you near a river?

Went to a fascinating talk on owls last week ( with four owls to look at!) The owl rescue charity was giving advice on what to do if you find a baby owl on the ground under a tree, - probably with its eyes closed and looking sickly. If it’s in a safe place, walk away! It will be playing dead until you’ve gone, and is quite capable of using its talons to climb back up the tree! I didn’t know they could do that, but it makes sense, as they leave the nest when very young, and sit on branches until they can fly.
If you do have to move it, from a roadside or unsafe place, you can pick it up from the back, but not scoop it up from underneath, as it will grab your hand with said talons! Also, very few birds use their under developed sense of smell, so baby birds can be replaced in a nest without danger of being rejected because they smell of humans.
A bit of a lazy day today, OH seems to have a lot of sport to watch ( rugby before I’d even woken up!) so we stayed at home, and I just dithered around achieving nothing much.

Thanks for the animal suggestions folks. General consensus from Google ID and family wild life enthusiasts is that it was most probably a baby weasel because of the eyes and claws, although earlier it was thought to be a baby otter (which I would have much preferred!).
Never been lucky enough to have seen either.
Got my handrail done with one more varnish coat to do tomorrow. Cleaned up 5 Victorian fireplace tiles from a house I once owned and used them as decoration by the edge in a flower bed by the front door. Not sure what else I could have done with them.
Have a good night all, see you tomorrow.

              Good morning all. :coffee1:
Another beautiful day … blue sky and sunshine. We have a busy day ahead … shooting down to Suffolk yo drop some stuff off to son, then on to Wonky in Ipswich to take a load of knitting I’ve finished for her step-daughter’s baby. Then we’ll swing round and head tie the Suffolk coast before coming home … no idea when.
              Have a lovely day folks.

Good morning everyone. I thought I was late this morning - leapt (yeah right!) out of bed went downstairs and was greeted by Cricket - pretending he was dying of starvation and neglect - got his food ready and switched on the kettle. Glanced at the clock on the cooker and it was 05:20! D'oh! Once I am up there is no point in me trying to get back to sleep - it doesn't work! Onwards and upwards. Looking forward to a good day.

                  Hi all

Another beautiful day, we need to get the garden ready for our imminent holiday. I shall be moving pots into shadier places.
I shall leave Moira snorting ( don’t tell her I said that ) and have my coffee in the garden.

                          Good morning all.

I didn't sleep very well again under the too hot duvet.

This afternoon we are off to Lake Windermere.
