Thank you @Badly_Maintained. My knee is still painful but we are having a good time. I bought some Ibuprofen today, hope it works better than paracetamol. I'm glad your scan was OK.

We've had another good day. We went to Beatrix Potter's House this morning, then had tea and hot chocolate in a tea room, but outside, in a pretty village called Hawkshead. We drove around Lake Coniston this afternoon. The road was very thin on one side.

Tomorrow OH thought we'd take a bus into Keswick. It will give him a break from driving and we can both look at the scenery.

      Off to post photos.

Very pleased that you got the all clear from the MRI so quickly, @Badly_Maintained. And pleased you have the other scan lined up. Sorry to hear so many of you are having to spend the lovely weather either suffering from possible Covid / lurgy ( we both had something similar a few weeks ago) or having to visit hospitals for test, scans or other appointments. Always seems wrong to be in a waiting room while the sun is shining outside. In one of my jobs, all the surgeries were on the top floor of a hospital, with big south facing windows. Trying to keep the staff cool, and stop patients fainting in the waiting room was a real problem. And although there were rules to stop people having to work below a certain minimum temperature, there was no equivalent maximum for heat waves, so no possibility of getting air conditioning, even if there had been a budget for it. Don’t miss that at all.
It was warm but overcast this morning, with a light breeze, so we had a very enjoyable walk. It was a full 5C warmer in the garden, away from the coast, but we shredded my last pile of prunings and wheeled the green bins down to the kerb for tomorrow’s collection. It’s quite cool in the house during the summer, although it did seem a little strange to be eating Christmas pudding after our late lunch! I overbought in December, but when I suggested it to OH, he quite fancied the idea. Said this was a better time to really enjoy it, rather than after a huge turkey dinner.
Just sitting here watching a crow, a squirrel and a rabbit on the grass under the bird feeder. All very peaceful.

Did you visit John Ruskin's house overlooking the Lake @Busy-Lizzie? You have been blessed with the weather so far. I'm sure it will keep now. I know what you mean about 'thin roads' we always joke about 'breathing in to make the car thinner' on those narrow roads - praying like mad we don't meet some huge tractor towing an even huger trailer.
@Ergates, I could happily eat Christmas pudding all year round :)

Good news about your NDN @Dovefromabove. I hope she gets more comfortable soon. She will be pleased to be home though with her familiar things around her.

This weather is crazy, less than 2 weeks ago it was cold and damp , now it's so hot we are hiding inside during the day, working in the garden in early eve and going to the plots to water, after dinner . Not long back in, I used to do this sort of thing when I was working, don't expect to need to do it now.

Good morning @AuntyRach and all arriving soon. My brother and I are going to Manchester today to meet up with one of our cousins from Canada. We have never met this cousin and her family before so it will be quite exciting. I found something something unusual growing in my greenhouse yesterday,

The pot in the greenhouse is half full with a gritty compost and I suspect that it and the terracotta pot, rather like a storage heater, had captured warmth from the sunshine yesterday and provided the ideal 'bed' for Cricket the cat. He actually stayed in that pot for 4 hours!

@Penny_Forthem, many years ago we had a lovely Springer - liver and white - who was called Marco (Kennel Club name was Markdown Muffin). He was gorgeous and so loved by us all. We got him as a tiny pup and the first episode of hilarity was when my mother - with all her rollers in place - came into the kitchen one morning and Marco, confronted by this alien apparition, fled in terror to his basket. As he grew he became more and more amusing. He chewed all the sides of his basket down until all that was left was a flat disc of wicker on the floor. One of his party tricks was carrying a whole egg in his mouth until given permission to break it and consume the contents. In winters he would come in from the fields with lots of 'snow balls' dangling from his belly hairs and between his toes. Such wonderful memories of a lovely dog.
