New Samsung TV ordered from John Lewis. Supposed to be next day delivery but apparently the next day after today is Tuesday, talk about a lost weekend! JL have a 5 year guarantee so I will be patient, OH is not happy as Wimbledon starts before then. Our last TV broke down 4 years and 9 months into the guarantee and JL fixed it and loaned us a TV while it was away.

Morning all. I had a lie in but have a banging headache, so hope that’s not c’vid visiting.

When I used to sing in the Youth Choir (so a very long time ago!) I used to take lozenges with me as invariably someone would have a cold or sore throat. What will you’ve singing @Dovefromabove? We used to do Beatles covers along with the traditional choir classics.

Your strawberry event sounds fabulous @Ladybird4. I hope you have strawberry weather too.

          Have a wonderful time @Goldenlily26.

Sounds like your one cataract op has made a big difference already @floralies. Enjoy those colours.

          @PatE - you’ve mentioned
the place of Perisher before and that does sound snowy!

          Have a lovely Saturday everybody.

We’re singing what we hope is a ‘something for everyone’ mix …

            Down by the Riverside (trad)
            Fields of Gold (Sumner)
            Chim chim cher-ee (Sherman)
            The Seal Lullaby (Whitacre)
Beauty and the Beast (Ashman and Menken)
            Dashing Away (trad)
            Oh Waly Waly (trad)
The Last Rose of Summer (trad)
            Donna Nobus Pacem (Mozart)
Now is the Month of Maying (Morley)
Chattanooga Choo Choo (Gordon and Warren)
            Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen)
You Raise Me Up (Graham and Lovland)

I like singing them all, but I absolutely love singing The Seal Lullaby (a very demanding piece that our director hesitated about but we’ve astounded him.)Donna Nobis and You Raise Me Up.

What a fabulous set @Dovefromabove. Some of those have the goosebump factor for sure.

I appreciate the thought, but at the same time not good to let guest know we are watching, not that I am all the time. Or cell phone chirps when movement in front of the camera as it should. We aim toward getting good reviews.

Saturday. so far temps are awesome 68degrees. almost 730AM.

We need it to really rain. Today going to drag the hoses about to water what I can in the beds, hope it rains while we are gone, can never count on the weather people.
                  Then packing the SUV.
I go to this awesome Second Hand store and find the best decorator pillows with perfect inserts to for next to nothing, make sure it has a zipper as I wash the outside in cold water, and of course making sure the inserts are good quality before I buy it, washing them too. Price of the last 2 I bought was 6dollars each, can't go wrong. Anyway, two more coming down with me. Helps with the added touches of color on couch and chairs in the living room. I also have them in the screened in porch on the white wicker chairs and couch there, its a blue theme out there.

When we go to our airbnb, there certainly is a difference living in a house that is 2800 square foot versus coming home to ours that is a 1900 square foot. But if we could just continue to "declutter" our house it would be better---the goal.

Husband's brother got in from Poland yesterday, he's meeting up with husband to go to an airshow just down the street from us. I am staying home, to pack, organize etc. Not an airshow fan, its ok, but, seen one, seen them all.

Well off to whatever. Take care folks.

There goes summer.... the ice cream maker has been put away.
Good job Tesco turned up trumps after all @Goldenlily26. Hope the weather does too.
Sounds an excellent, eclectic selection, @Dovefromabove
As we are not having the GKs after school on Monday (they're on school trips), we thought we might have a sneaky few nights midweek at the caravan. We've not spent more than 4 nights away from home since hub's diagnosis 3 years ago.
                    Your airbnb sounds idyllic @redstar

Afternoon all, seems that everybody is busy this weekend, apart from us. We're just enjoying a quiet, sunny day at home doing nothing in particular. The good news is that I found the receipt for the bed at last after many hours searching, the bad news is that we bought it just over six
years ago so doubt if it's still under guarantee. Still, the furniture company have promised to contact the manufacturers on Monday to find out which is very good of them.

@Dovefromabove Hope you enjoy the concert this afternoon and that your voice behaves. That special 'linctus' sounds effective but lethal!

Fingers crossed @AuntyRach , that it's not covid. Hope you feel better soon.

Enjoy your lunch out @Goldenlily26 , great that your delivery man turned up after all.

It's also great news that you've had the first cataract op done @floralies, hope your sight continues to improve. My brother's just had one done and is now waiting for the other one. I have a slowly progressing cataract in my left eye but don't need the op just yet.

A Strawberry Fayre sounds yummy @Ladybird4 , wish I lived closer!

@redstar, I was joking about the video of course. I like poking about in second hand shops sometimes, most of ours over here are charity shops where you can pick up very good bargains sometimes. I donated loads of stuff earlier this year, including crystal wine glasses we just didn't need and the charity shop in aid of our local hospice were very grateful. I agree with you on airshows, my OH has an old 1938 Austin 10 so we go to annual rallies and the like. Quite boring sometimes.

Yes, @lizzie27 , been donating myself, even heavier since retirement, in the clean out mode. Lots of little treasures to find. But I try to leave them there, unless the Airbnb can use it.

Our green bins are both half full, with a week and a half to go, after our efforts at trimming the hedges. I have also been digging out some ugly ferns and brambles. It doesn’t actually look that much different, but I have a pile of prunings and greenery to prove I’ve done something.
Woken this morning by the tapping sounds of a juvenile crow pecking at the window surround in the corridor. I don’t know if there is actual putty there these days, but that was what it was interested in. Weird. We used to have magpies attacking the frames, but not for some years.

We’ve had an unsettled week. After a lovely morning a few days ago, meeting friends for breakfast and a long chat at the Donkey sanctuary, we were about to wander off for a walk to see our favourite donkey, only to find out he had been put to sleep after a short illness. Our reaction seems rather daft in some ways, we didn’t own him, but he was such a friendly animal, often coming to the fence when called, for a scratch and a cuddle. I’m devastated, feels like we have lost a friend.

Went into the city today on my own, to do a little retail therapy. Haven’t been too successful recently, but today, I managed to buy comfy shoes, a summer dress for £12(!) and a couple of other bits. Also bought some face creams, and somehow, by using a money off voucher, a three for two offer, and an extra discount for having a loyalty card, I managed to buy £75 worth of stuff for £35! Still struggling to work that out, but a nice young lady at the till helped me to decipher what the best deal was. It was a bit complicated, (despite me having an MBA) but I also seem to have lots of extra loyalty points to spend, including bonus ones for being over 60! Came home in a good mood with my bags of goodies.

So sorry to hear about your favourite donkey @Ergates. I would feel exactly the same and you HAVE lost a friend.
You seem to have had a very productive day with your bargain buys. Aren't they just the best?! Well done on getting all those purchases.
I am signing out for today and I'll catch you all some time tomorrow. I'm glad our Strawberry Fayre is an indoors celebration as it has been most unpleasant. Night night all and enjoy your evenings. I hope @Dovefromabove's voice holds out.
