@Obelix-Vendée my heart goes out to you as I know just how you feel. When I had to make the dreadful decision I went through a very dark time. I still miss my little Lily even though I have replaced her with a totally different character. No one wanted him from Cats Protection as he is boisterous and crazy as a coot but something about him made me accept the challenge and I adopted Cricket. This was the name he had been given and I quite liked it so it stuck. Sorry I'm rambling on too much - apologies all. Back to the tennis!

Thanks @Ladybird. I've had cats for almost 50 years now so should be used to losing loved pets but not like this. We have yet to discuss whether we'll adopt more rescues but I'm glad you and Cricket have found each other. I reckon it takes 2 years for a kitten to start being a grown up and not all of them do. Cosmos hasn't really and Minstrel has her moments. They're both almost 8.

Thanks for your message @Lorraine, and others, I've replied.

I feel sad for you @Obelix-Vendée, your lovely dogs have left a big hole. I felt like that about my Tigger, Border Collie, when he died, but dreadful for you as there is double the pain.

Big hug to you, @Obelix-Vendée. Still get tears in my eyes remembering our two dogs, who passed away over 30 years ago. But a string of cats have cheered our lives since then. Now dog sitting our son’s dog for three weeks. Bit like grandchildren, lovely to have them visit, and lovely to hand them back!

Hello everyone. Our son is visiting at the moment and our daughter and grandson will be down tomorrow. It’s her birthday on Friday. We are still cold here, but snow has kept to the high country.

Hello there @PatE, believe it or not, I have put on my heating this morning just for a short while to take the chill off the house - and here we are in July, our summer. How about this for a laugh? According to National Days 2024, today is - wait for it - 'National Stay Out of the Sun Day'. Now to find some sun to stay out of!

Good morning all! Goodbyeee @Dovefromabove I bid you well.

Oh @Obelix-Vendée I feel your pain. Two so close to each other is painful. One is bad enough. It takes ages to get over these losses of our beloved pets. You just have to go through the motions - as the saying goes "Grief is the price of love."

Windy here (again) - it's cool for July. We have hot afternoons, but nothing like last year!! My padron peppers look like a zig zag down the rows. Some have shot up and others are still medium or smallish height.

I am going to pick up the pump for my bore this morning. Ordered on Monday - nearly fell over myself when the shop phoned to say it had arrived!! (It's pretty laid back down here!!)

I hope everyone has an enjoyable Wednesday.

                          Good morning all.
I slept better last night and feel less tired and raring to go! I read somewhere that if you put a bay leaf under your pillow it 'cures' insomnia- silly beggar did so, maybe it's all in the head!
It's going to be a wet day, so shopping in town is on the agenda. Nothing planned beyond that.
                          Have a good day everyone.

Good morning @pattie, I think I might try being a 'silly beggar' too. I would love a decent night's sleep. I have heard of hop pillows being useful for insomnia. I am hoping to get some plant deliveries today.
