Gosh people there are some wonderful descriptions of lush food on here. If I wasn't hungry before I am now. It is cold and wet here as per usual so all outdoor activities are suspended. It could be a Wimbledon Day

      Morning all.

Cold but dry so far in South Norfolk, but the forecast says rain this afternoon. I must go and re-plant my parsley and chive pots. Last year's chives have all died and it's the 2nd year for parsley so it's trying to flower. That was one reason I wanted to buy compost yesterday.

I posted Peter Beales rose garden in the rain, here is the link. I always have trouble finding it.

Good morning everyone. Back after a long AWOL in deepest, quietest, rural France where we had sketchy internet and virtually no phone signal. Speaker phone with phone held high in the roof of the van sometimes worked. Reminded me of the old days when you had to play with the TV aerial to get a decent picture...!
Very lucky to have enjoyed a window of 8 days of dry, sunny and warm weather (the first they'd enjoyed for weeks) before the weather broke last Monday. By the time we were back in the Netherlands on Wed it was 13C and heavy rain. Had to have the heating on in the camper van - in July FFS.
I can see that you've all been busy although I've not had a chance to read back properly yet. Where has @Dovefromabove gone? Seem to be fewer posts on here now - has something happened I don't know about?
Haven't watched any of the tennis yet (unusual for me) but I have been able to follow the football. The England team are doing nothing for my fingernails - as per!! Glad we're not away this week. All the camp sites we stayed on have been run by Dutch people, primarily for Dutch campers. Shall we just say that the clubhouses and bars feature a lot of orange at the moment? Would have been interesting watching the upcoming semi-final over there!

          Good afternoon,

It’s mixed weather wise here. One moment sunshine and patches of blue in the sky, the next black clouds and sharp showers.

A fairly lazy day in store for me, my back is really playing up today, after a troublesome night - sit too long and it hurts, stand too long it hurts, lie down too long, it hurts. Getting well and truly fed up with it now. Anyway, enough of my moans.

Glad you didn’t encounter that rude man again @Tui34, let’s hope you won’t any more.

Sounds very cold and miserable out your way @PatE, reminds me of things to come here. Our summer isn’t exactly very summery, apart from odd bursts, but I’m thankful that we haven’t got the temps we had 2 years ago, that was too much for me.

Nice to see you back @Topbird. Hope you had a good holiday. Not sure why Dove is no longer posting, sad to see her go, but perhaps one day, she’ll come back.

Good afternoon everyone. It is sunny and dry here but only 21C. I have spent my morning sanding down a bookcase, sanding and washing an occasional table to get it ready for feeding and finishing and then more painting of kitchen walls. More of that this pm now that I've had lunch.

I hope you've enjoyed your perambulations @Topbird. There are some Dutch owned golf clubs in the Charente and, no doubt, other popular holiday and retirment places.

@Busy-Lizzie shame about the wetaher and the rose garden. I haven't bought any new ones this year as I have 6 of last year's still in pots and now ready to go out into soil but they'l have to wait a bit. I also took cuttings of some of my DA roses last year. 4 have taken and all seem to be a lot sturdier growing on their own roots than their parents in the ground. Odd.

Hope your back improves @Blue arbour. It's a miserable kind of pain and discomfort IME.

@Topbird and @Blue arbour I have just sent you both a message.

It hasn't rained yet today so I went outside to plant my parsley in largish pots. I buy it in the SM, harden it off and split it up.

                Thanks for the message Busy-Lizzie.

Our local weather patterns are very strange aren't they? You're less than 20 miles from us and we've had heavy rain since about 11.30am. Flippin' freezin' as well - had to dig out a jumper - again. Been no real opportunity to get out and do some much needed gardening since we got back.

My brother and SIL have been in San Sebastian (Nthn Spain) for the last 8 days and they've had grey skies and heavy rain every day, bar one. As K said - I thought to bring a brolly but never imagined I'd wish I'd brought an extra sweater - to Spain - in July!!!

Going to watch the British GP now - 3 Brits in the top 3 grid positions - excellent.

Sunday, Yep, alive here. Finally opened my lap top. knew I had lots of emails to delete. Busy at the jet ski gathering for the two days, with the family etc. All day, tired ect. Its certainly interesting. Learned a lot . And it does take money to take part in this activity.
Family has left this morning for Gulfport, Miss. We are here till Tuesday morning. Right now, husband napping. Looking at exploring some local things a bit. Not sure what yet. Tuesday we head back to our Airbnb in New Bern, NC to finish projects.
                  And that's it all.

Welcome back @Topbird. I was just beginning to think about sending out a search party. Speaking of having to have your heating on in the van, I've had mine on several times on various mornings just to take the chill off the house. Its ridiculous. I flipped from watching the Djokovic/Popyrin match when Wimbledon erupted as the result filtered through - just caught the end of the last penalty shot. Yes, you might have had to whisper 'Come on England' if you were still over there. I was amused by Djokovic pretending to kick a football and Popyrin pretending to be the goalkeeper at the other end of the court.
@Blue arbour, sorry to read that your back is playing up. I agree with @Obelix-Vendée, back pain is a miserable pain and I would include earache and toothache in that category. I hope it eases off overnight so that you are more comfortable tomorrow.
@redstar, enjoy your last couple of evenings and have a safe journey back to your Airbnb on Tuesday.

@redstar sounds fabulous. I tried it once. Frightened myself, several birds and a seal.
Coughs politely...I know this is GC, so to keep on topic, I sat in the greenhouse and read. I'm re reading Katherine, by Anya Seyton.

I am signing out for today - I don't need to send for the physio though. Whatever you have planned for this evening, have a wonderful time. Catch you all tomorrow.

Happy Monday everyone. Oh joy, I have a Dental appointment this morning. I'll enjoy the walk up into the village though as it does appear to be a pleasant morning so far. Might have to browse in some shops whilst I am out.

                              Morning all.

I hope it isn't a painful sort of dental appointment @Ladybird4.

Friends are coming to dinner tomorrow. Was going to do the shopping for it today but we did it at Waitrose on Saturday. Not much to prepare either, will do that tomorrow.

I want to weedkiller the drive, but it's not easy when it keeps raining. Maybe I can do it this morning, sunny at the moment

                                Good Morning folks.
It’s my last day off before back to the grind. I’m just doing a few garden jobs before the rain comes later today. Glad it’s garden bin collection tomorrow!

Hope Monday is kind to all.
