Morning folks. This is Wednesday, I believe.
Anyway, yes found some gems, rubies, and sapphires, and emeralds. All would need polishing etc. Not sure the quality, probably not much. Some of the bobbles we can put in the fish tank at home.

We are again in New Bern, NC. Hope to be driving back home to PA on the 14th.

Just had a lovely rain here this morning, 9Am. So that will slow down the outside stuff we had planned. Oh, well. Not that its earth shattering if it does not get done.

    Take care.

      Good afternoon Ladies & Gentlemen.

I very much hope that your knee improves soon @Busy-Lizzie . I also hope that your cold clears up quickly @Obelix-Vendée .

I may be completely wrong here, but I was under the impression that the 5:2 diet involved 2 days of low calories, rather than total fasting @lizzie27 (although I may have misunderstood). Hope the weight loss makes it worthwhile for you anyway.

Best wishes with your tidying @Penny_Forthem .

Enjoy the lunch and the visit from your friends @RowlandsCastle .

I have exceptionally decay-prone teeth (runs in the family), so I use a fluoride mouthwash after every meal (unless I'm out and about of course). If I didn't do that I might have none of my own teeth left at this stage :)

This is the second day of grey skies and frequent rain showers. A heatwave is forecast for the end of the month, allegedly.

Have a safe afternoon anyway folks.

        Afternoon everyone.

I was working a 12 hour so AWOL here yesterday, so consider yourselves all “liked”.

Sorry to hear of sore knees and colds etc.

I’ve nipped to Diddly-Dee - some good garden bits and bobs like planters, seats and decorations. I got a new hose head with different spray settings as I miss my ‘mist’ setting in current one as that’s good for the delicate stuff.

Have a good rest of the day folks.

@Penny_Forthem. My friend and I use the polyester fillings out of old but cleaned duvets to stuff the toys and teddies we knit and sew. We always have plenty!
It has been a very wet and windy day here - as expected so work has been indoor. I have started some fresh knitting - normally something I keep for the dark, winter nights. It was either that or housework - no contest! Got a meeting tonight but I'm hoping to be back in time for The Great British Sewing Bee.

                Hi folks,

Beautiful photo @redstar, for a moment you had me fooled!
Hope you're not too bushed @AuntyRach.
@Badly_Maintained , you are partly right about the 5-2 diet but they do let you eat something on fasting days - just, not a lot! Limited to 500 calories per day (females) and 600 (males). Recommended intake is 2000 cal (females) and 2500 (males) per day. It's harder than it sounds, given that a slice of cake could be 300 calories or more.

Picked our first harvest today - blackberries, gooseberries and 'volunteer' 2nd early potatoes.
First two have been frozen and we'll eat the potatoes with a quiche tonight.

I laundered all our old duvets and a couple of large blankets before donating them to the Ukraine appeal when war started. Normally by now our own duvets would have been washed at the laundromat (big machines), tumbled and put away for the summer but it's still been cool enough to need them, tho it is just the 4.5 tog for me and OH.

Good idea about the filling tho @Ladybird4.

Having said that, a hot and sweaty night for me last night which I hope is me shaking off the last of the cold apart from the cough. Head and nose almost back to normal. I've only had one other cold since Covid so it's been a bit of a shock. Must renew the jabs while I think about it.

Definitely no ice and snow wanted here thanks @redstar and we never get it that thick and insulating anyway here. OH is only just managing to get the head high grass cut enough for me to get to the beds for weeding, soil improvers and new plants.

Mostly sunny this am after some early rain but I was busy doing another coat in the kitchen. Started to rain later this pm, just as my gardening friends and i were finishing a tour of the garden after discussing an itinerary for a club trip to England in June 2025. Typical.

Still, it means I should get some potatoes.

Have a pleasant evening everyone with minimum interference from aches and pains and other frustrations.

Meeting was quite productive and the lemon drizzle cake went down well. I suspect the brevity of the meeting may have had something to do with a certain football match that is on tonight. Me, I will be watching the Great British Sewing Bee later so I will bid you all a good night. Pleased to read that you may have fought the cold virus and won @Obelix-Vendée. See you all tomorrow.

                    Good Morning folks.
It’s just me and a couple of wood pigeons outside having a cuppa (well they didn’t want one) before work. Have a good day everyone and I hope all ailments and injuries are improving.

Morning all. You're a very early bird @redstar!

Whilst I'm not quite ready for autumn just yet, it seems my garden may be. Picked the first of my autumn fruiting raspberries today. Big juicy and delicious. Raspberries definitely
                              like a cool damp summer!
