Oh such a sad story about the stranding of all those pilot whales in Orkney. It must have been so distressing for the people who were trying to rescue them, yet couldn't.

      Good Morning folks.

It’s much cooler out for my morning cuppa today. My company today are two big snails having a cuddle on the patio.

Cut my finger opening a new coffee this morning - the tin foil bit. It’s a double plaster situation!

      Have a lovely Friday everyone.

Good morning @AuntyRach. No pigeons this morning then? I think that I would prefer them to big snails. I really dislike getting cuts like that - paper cuts included and I have also had cuts from the sides of rigid plastic trays.

Good morning everyone. Afternoon @PatE Stay in the warm!!

Violent thunderstorm at 4am and the welcome sound of rain in the garden. Fizz pattered in to lie next to the bed with a big sigh!! The air has cooled down somewhat so the bike run will be pleasant this morning.

Nice festivities in the village this weekend being National (Bastille) Day on Sunday. Wouldn't like to be on the roads incoming this weekend!! A load of washing to hang out first!!

Bon voyage @redstar and a welcome sleep for you tonight. (I expect you are asleep now!) Nothing worse than a summer cold @Obelix-Vendée Hope you can shake it off smartly! Did you get the storm @Ante1 I think we are more or less on the same latitude. Hmmm.

Have a pleasant Friday for this who are working. (Even for those of us who don't).

            Morning all.

Daughter has sent a WhatsApp. Granddaughter has her Brevet results, she's top in her year of just over 100 pupils! Brevet is the French equivalent of O Levels.

We are going shopping today, food for Son 1's visit and we must pick up OH's laptop from the computer shop. It had a glitch. The family arrive tomorrow.

Painting man has nearly finished. Our cottage looks much cleaner and smarter. He's been really good, doing repairs as he went, like changing fascia boards and door sills and replacing a gutter.

              Good morning all.
No storm @Tui34. It will be sunny and hot at least next ten days, and it will be huge problem. According to long term forecast, we can expect refreshment at Sunday 21st.
I'll also rest today, and tomorrow must go to the cottage. It will be mostly watering plants.

Good morning @Tui34 and @Busy-Lizzie. Enjoy your bike ride @Tui34 in the more comfortable temperatures. I'm sure you will have everything organised so that you don't have to go out anywhere over the weekend. Congratulations to your clever granddaughter @Busy-Lizzie.

Morning @Ante1. This sounds so much like a repeat of last season but I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of all the fruits and vegetables from your little piece of Heaven. Just don't be overdoing things in the heat.

                    Good Morning Ladies & Gentlemen,

There are patches of blue sky this morning, it might turn out to be a nice day. Forecast high: 17C.

No GW this evening due to sport as far as I know, although I happily watched Beechgrove last night.

Hope your back is now firmly on an improving path @Blue arbour .

Congratulations to your Granddaughter on her excellent exams results @Busy-Lizzie !

Hopefully your Husband's heart scan results will bring good news @Penny_Forthem .

                    Stay cool @Tui34 & @Ante1 , and stay warm @PatE .

Best wishes to all, as always.

                      Good morning everyone,

It sounds as if you’re having quite a heatwave @Ante1. Here, it is bright, sunny and breezy but decidedly cool at 16C - not at all summer like yet. I’d be happy with low to mid 20’s, very light breeze and blue skies for a while. I really dislike very hot and humid, which, when we get summer, is what it tends to be like - not surprising really, given we’re surrounded by seas.
Have you broken up for the school holidays? I think in England & Wales, most schools finish next Friday for the summer. In Scotland the schools started theirs in June.

Thank you @Badly_Maintained, my back feels considerably better today. I’m still being cautious, but I can move about a lot more freely, so really hope it’s on the mend.

:fingers crossed: for good results for your OH, @Penny_Forthem.

Congratulations to your GD @Busy-Lizzie. You must be very proud of her.

                      Well, I’d better get on.

Good morning all, just. Had a 5 hour slot of sleep last night thanks to the new cough syrup then fell asleep again after my morning juice so am only just surfacing.

Congratulations to GD and family @Busy-Lizzie. Great result. Have fun with son and family when they arrive.

I don't envy you your heatwave @Ante1 and hope you and your plants cope well. We get them here too but not this year thank goodness. Glad you have some rain @Tui34.

Painting for me today. Final stretch. It's cool and cloudy with sunny bits so OH is out strimming and weeding giant wild oats from our bank - again. Seems never ending as there are huge patches of it left on the flat too.

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're up to. I hope all aches, pains and strains are behaving themselves.

Thank you all for your good wishes re hub. He has to return for 'part 2' of the scan the week after next. However, we hope the results will determine what needs to be done.
He's following the 5 2 way of eating with me and we have both now lost 3lbs. Since his surgery, he's been quite inactive, which is not like him at all.
@Ante1 I hope you have a good supply of water to your plot.
Great result for your GD @Busy-Lizzie

One more semi to go. I keep thinking it's Saturday today. Its been a miserable day in my area and I hate to say it but the meteorologists were correct. Apparently Sunday is going to be an OK day so maybe, just maybe I may be able to get into my garden. I am signing out for today. Any one watching Musetti v Djokovic (like me) enjoy. Everybody have a super evening though and I'll catch up with you all tomorrow.

Evening all, we've had another nice day here, just about T-shirt weather so warmish and dry.
Son and family enjoyed their concert but not the 3 hour drive home in the early hours so may not repeat the experience. First time for my two grandchildren - they thought it was brilliant.

We took ourselves out for the day while son and DIL worked upstairs. We tried to find my great grandfather's grave in one of Poole's cemeteries, a very complicated route via sat-nav which ended up in the wrong place of course. When we finally got there, the noticeboard map didn't record the Section where he was buried and none of the Sections had any small noticeboards indicating where they were - talk about inefficiency and a couldn't care less attitude. More research needed for the next try. We did have a nice lunch out in Poole Park which we remember from our childhoods.
I drove all day and am now absolutely exhausted with the concentration needed to drive in a strange , very built up area in heavy traffic place - could remember bits of the route but not how it all joined up. Thank goodness OH is brilliant at map reading!

Congratulations on your GD's success @Busy-Lizzie, well deserved I'm sure.

Enjoy the tennis and your evening @Ladybird4 .

I have finally finished the sunshine painting in the kitchen but may have a bit of touching up to do once I see how it dries. We have a small wall-mounted TV and I could not, for the life of me, work out how to undo it despite having been the one who did it so I've had to work round its support. Fiddly doesn't begin to cover it.

It's the anniversary of our signing the contract for this house and OH has just offered me a glass of fizz. Declined tho as I still have a sore throat and chesty cough. Maybe tomorrow, or even Sunday as it's Bastille Day.

It's turned out bright now after a pretty dull pm. Let's hope we all get a decent weekend,
