I don't know what they put in the new anti-cough meds I got at the pharmacy but last night I had another good sleep of 12 hours so I didn't surface till after 10am. Done a bit of pottering in the kitchen, set off a wash, stripped the bed and hung the duvet out to air. Frittata in the oven for lunch.

We were supposed to have bangy, clappy storms this morning but neither they nor the rain have materialised. Not expecting to go over 21C today so comfy for both indoor and outdoor jobs.

I take it football is not coming home. Not like they played throughout with enough flare to deserve it anyway.

Hope everyone is well and enjoying their day. Long, long time since I've been on the Norfolk broads @Busy-Lizzie. Enjoy.

@Goldenlily26 keep an eye on Awesome Books as they have a few listed and may get more. They're an American outfit that sells new and used books but, for every book they sell, they donate one to schools with underpriveleged children.

Monday, 8:30Am here, rained late yesterday so steamy outside, a too warm 77 degrees already, suppose to get to 90. To hot to work in the garden beds.
Continue with house stuff, and out to get Car Part packaged to send to buyer, and other errands.
Later all. Have a grand day.

I hate to have to report - on St Swithin's Day - that it has just started to rain. I'm glad I managed to get my washing dried and inside before that started. I am quizzing again tonight and I am quiz master so at least I don't have the stress of trying to remember answers. Early sign out today because I need to do some 'stuff' before I go out. I hope you all have wonderful evenings and I'll catch up with all your news tomorrow.

We had an enjoyable day. First we had lunch in a pub by the river. Then we went to Wroxham and Anna chose her birthday present from me in the toy shop. Then we boarded the electric boat that I'd booked for 2 hours on the river. My son and his wife took turns driving it. The day started sunny but started to rain in the afternoon when we were on the boat. It didn't really spoil the fun but everything would have looked prettier in the sun.

We had a rather large spider just in view by the side of the bed. By the time I'd gone to find something to catch it in, it had retreated behind the bed.
Caught it on camera with my mobile phone, but wife has decided to sleep in the spare room!!

A picture says it all! Good morning everyone. Enjoyed the quiz last night. I was quiz master and boy was I relieved as the set of questions were extremely difficult. Our team was beaten - again but we are happy to prop up the rest of the league.
@Busy-Lizzie, don't keep us in suspenders! What did your little granddaughter choose as her present? Sorry, just being nosey!
@RowlandsCastle, that is a beastie. Please don't kill it. I have two huge spiders living in separate empty plant pots in my greenhouse. The first time I saw one of them, out of the corner of my eye, I thought it was a shrew.

@Ladybird4 I have no intention of killing it. At least, not deliberately. All manner of creatures get trapped and removed to the garden. However, I'm sure many of them find their way back.
We did have both front and back doors open yesterday quite a bit, plus windows.

I hope it stops raining for you. It certainly has, here in Kent, but more is forecast. I need to get at least one tree removed, before it blows down and breaks the fence. It's only about six inches in diameter, but at over 30ft high, could still do damage.

@RowlandsCastle, that tree sounds a bit of a nightmare. Is it possible for you to remove (carefully) any of the lower growth?

Thanks. I had a look ay their site where they have several copies for sale but in America and Australia. That means £20.00 plus postage. Also, some of them are being sold by rare book sellers as 1st editions so I wonder if that particular book was only a very limited edition. I will keep my eye on them.

                      Good morning all.

@Ladybird4 the birthday present was Lego Friends involving a boat in quite a big box.

Son and family are going to London today, driving to a train station nearer London then taking a train. They'll stay overnight, back here tomorrow.

We will have coffee with friends this morning then do the weekly shop.

Many of the lower branches have already broken away, due to it being dead (I removed a few yesterday). It is (or was) a deciduous tree, and is being held in place by at least three other trees - two of them being conifers.
I think it may be possible to cut it up from the base upwards, and slide it down each time. But that's just an idea. It might just fall and damage other plants. It's only a few feet from the fence, and that's my main concern.
Still, if all goes well, I'll be able to reconstruct my wood pile, created specifically for wildlife.

                            Good morning all!

Very humid and muggy yesterday - really clammy weather. Today is cooler with a north wind blowing down, but sunny. Very cool summer this year.

My niece is passing through on her way to Madrid to collect son number 2 who has just completed his first year doing advanced engineering with option F1!! Sorting out new accommodation as he will continue along the same route of study. Then back to Italy with son. From here a 10-hour drive (in normal conditions). They live in Cortina int he Dolomites. What a drive!!

Then niece number 2 and grown up family are due here on Thursday. I hope it is beach weather for them as they all want a dip in the Med!! This branch is spending a month touring around UK, France and Spain. They live in NZ.

I am of course, chief cook and bottle washer but I will get help in the kitchen department.

                            Have an enjoyable Tuesday everyone!!
