That will be a lovely trip for Possum @Obelix-Vendée I did Genoa - Florence on the Flixbus 5euros!! Just before Covid. Not a bad trip if you don't want to use the toilet!!

I've just had a message from my niece to say that she is almost in Madrid!! Roads fluid and no queue at the French/Spanish border which is often a mess with the big trucks. So that's good. She loves driving @lizzie27 and the toll roads are excellent.

I had to laugh at your comment @redstar !! My husband was a builder and was out early in the morning and home later in the evening having done quotes on new clients' projects etc. I did everything too. When he got cancer and was housebound, he was always complaining that it took me too long to go and get a couple of errands from the market etc!! He said, I was never home!! Kept sending me text messages asking where I was!! Yes, I had to watch ALL the sport on the TV as well. We put up with a lot, didn't we? Today's generation is quite different!

Hot here too @Ante1 I have a very hairy Border Collie stretched out on the tiled floor too!! As long as this weather ripens the tomatoes, that's fine!! They are still quite green although I have been picking aubergines and peppers for the last week.

    Bravo @RowlandsCastle !!

I'm quite happy to let my wife be on social media. It gives me time to, well, do what I enjoy doing. That includes the garden, go to the local heritage trust, postcard fairs, etc. Or even watch TV!

Not bad with a dodgy calf muscle - which I must say, isn't as bad as it was one week ago.
Oh, and dispensed with the rather large spider. Moved the bed, caught him, and now safely outside - although there are several windows open.

He does that also, when I am out on errands, and get back I get a "how come it took you so long", and yes calling me. We do put up with a lot. I don't watch sports on TV, I have a nice little study, have my lap top, and hook into Netflix. SMH.

@Obelix-Vendée, that does sound a wonderful trip that Possum is making. Will she and her friend be stopping over in Rome for a short while? @redstar, I'm so impressed with your response to your OH. You go girl! I have been awaiting another delivery so have been working in and out of the garage so I don't miss it - what a joke, another 'no show'. Got some plants to pot on so I'll get to work in the greenhouse now.
@Tui34 my tomatoes are still green too - we need some sun! My mini cucumbers have just started to flower.

Love those @RowlandsCastle. Thank you for sharing.

@Tui34 and @Ladybird4 we holidayed on the Tuscan coast for many years when Possum was a child with annual visits to Pisa, Lucca and Florence as well as beachtime but she remembers little. She's also "done" Italy on a school coach tour but her friend has never been and wanted to see Rome but she doesn't really do heat so will only stay a few days. That leaves Possum to wander at will. She's done a Flix bus from Brussels to Nantes and decided that, after all, the train is better. Yes, it's the loo situation.

We both like driving so the big question will be the route and whose music we listen to.

I've just been down to pick some broccoli for dinner and found 5, huge, fat, healthy cabbage whites under the netting. They seem to have grown up eating the outer leaves of my pointy cabbages. Humph! I shall go and investigate further tomorrow when the hose pipe isn't busy feeding the tomatoes' seep hose and I can spray off any more caterpillars.

@redstar OH plays golf which takes a minimum of 6 hours if he's playing at his own club so has nothing to say about how I spend my time unless it's a "Please could I .........".

Just popping in to catch up.
Took 2 young dogs to doggy prison this morning. It really is a luxury prison! Only for 2 nights.
We arrived in Llanberis 3ish after a drive through the mountains. I know they're not very big 'uns but very dramatic.
Got tickets for the train up Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) tomorrow.
Not quite the intercontinental journeys mentioned here, but we are well chuffed....the train is, anyway!
If we get any sun (it is forecast) I'll post pics.
                  Brilliant pics here today.

@redstar, rant away, it's always good to let off steam. That kind of controlling behaviour is a red light flashing so it's good you can stand up to him.
Hope the hair trim turns out good - I love having my hair done.

I had to keep dodging in and out because of the showers this afternoon but managed to plant the Salvia 'Caradonna' , a nemesia and a peachy coloured heuchera in the main border. Found some space by pulling up masses of gone over Love in the Mist. Also unpotted some Hakenochloa grass, split it into five pieces and replanted it all under the front garden purple leaved cherry tree.

@Obelix-Vendée , be cheaper to swop her airline ticket for a two way one wouldn't it?

Thank goodness, it's nearly 6.30 pm and I can start thinking about food!!!

This late in the day a plane ticket would be hundreds @lizzie27 and wouldn't satisfy the need to explore. I do need to remind her that some planning will be needed - route, hotels or B&B and sights to see in Italy and France.

I have physio tomorrow morning. That'll be a shock to the system after cancelling last week because of this dratted cold.

We've had dinner but OH is staying in the kitchen to watch England's women's football team. Never ending! And the flipping Olymics have yet to start.

@RowlandsCastle what joyous pictures! As @Obelix-Vendée said, thank you so much for sharing them with us. They really bring a smile to one's face.
@Obelix-Vendée, I think - to keep the peace - the driver gets to choose the music :) I was just remarking to my quiz colleague - who gives me a lift to our matches - last night, how sad I have been so far this year in not seeing ANY butterflies at all in my garden. My buddleias are not fully out yet so I live in hope. Not even any cabbage whites!
@Penny_Forthem, that is a wonderful area you are visiting. Stunning views but you do need a clear day to fully appreciate it.
@lizzie27, I really admire your fortitude with the 5-2 diet. Well done!
