    I'm in the shade.
I did 20240719_181534.jpg 20240719_181523.jpg 20240719_181141.jpg 20240719_174650.jpg a stint of weeding this afternoon, which resulted in the hay-fever attack from hell.
2 antihistamines later, I'm not weeping from one eye like a Cyclops.
    Anyway, we're listening

I don't consider You Tube Social Media. You can look at lots of neat stuff on You Tube for free. Certain shows. How to do stuff. Example how to "bake a cake" how to "make a bed". And the best is My garden walk about and pics are on You tube.

We went to Southwold on the Suffolk coast today. A road was closed, the diversion signs were useless and I couldn't get a signal for Google Maps or Waze. We got lost and ended up at the beach about 40 minutes after my son who managed the journey. Now I know why I couldn't get Google Maps or Waze to work. OH's Sat Nav was useless and didn't seem to know about the road closure. It was because of the Internet breakdown today. Countries from Australia up to Europe all had problems, hospitals, shops, cancelled planes etc. Sounds like havoc.

We are back from Southwold now. I must get dinner ready for when the family comes home. Left them sitting on the beach.

My garden Link I guess your asking for. Find it at Estherredstar (on You tube) there are some slides, and some walk abouts with my voice, and sounds of nature in my garden that is.

Whatever happened to OS maps and street maps? We don't have sat nav.

            But congratulations on getting there!

I used to plan routes and write instructions @RowlandsCastle but when you are lost in the countryside, the road you want is closed and half the signposts are missing it's not so easy. Especially when you follow diversion signs that fizzle out or you don't know if they've directed you to where you want to go or back home!

A very good morning to you all. A different start to today in that it is extremely overcast at the moment but very warm. Its 23°C in my house. I slept with my fan on all night which did make sleeping more comfortable.
Thank you for sharing those lovely pictures @Penny_Forthem. That dahlia is stunning. I hope you have recovered from your hayfever attack.
@RowlandsCastle, you sound just like my handy brother! :heehee: He loves his maps.
I do have to agree with @Busy-Lizzie about Diversion signs though. I spot them every where near me and often wonder where these 'start' and then 'finish'. Obviously the initial driver knows where he/she is going. Well you would hope so anyway.
@Obelix-Vendée I am going to love exploring that website - thank you!

We're off to a parish breakfast this morning, to meet our MP. Should be interesting!!

I accept the comments about the diversion signs. We have them here too. We do also have some local jokers who occasionally turn the arrow 180°, so we warn visitors of any issues. They are getting used to finding us.

                    Morning all.

Son and family have just left. I hope their journey is OK. It's the first day of the English school holidays and they are heading for the Chunnel.

It will be a quiet, clearing up day for us. OH has unloaded the dishwasher and is vacuuming and I've put the 1st load of sheets and towels in the machine.

Good morning all. We finally have some refreshment. As usual, after very long period of hot weather, it's huge storm outside. Luckily only rain and wind, we avoid hail. Next week should be much better wit temp around 30℃.

                        Good morning @RowlandsCastle, @Busy-Lizzie and @Ante1.
That should be an interesting 'meet' @RowlandsCastle. My MP is is the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport and I always get replies when I contact her about things I have concerns about.
Busy again @Busy-Lizzie. I heard on TV this morning that there are slight holdups at the Chunnel - about 30 minutes delay time so I do hope your family have a safe and quick journey home.
@Ante1, pleased to read that your severely hot weather has cooled a little (still hot for us here though!) The rain will be good for your crops at the cottage and will save you a bit of a job.

Ah well, that was summer, then.
                          Nice while it lasted.
My family is also heading for the Chunnel.
We will avoid the main roads today and instead, head for the hills with the dogs.

I am, on the whole, very disappointed with my dahlias this year. I'd envisaged a riot of blooms on the deck, but (as you could see) there's hardly anything in flower. C'est la vie.

@Ladybird4, this rain saved my a lot of work. I usually spend 3 or 4 hours just to water my veggies. It's still raining, and I'll not need to water next week.

                              Morning everybody,
We're expecting heavy rain by the afternoon and is slightly cooler but very humid. I had to wait in for a delivery so haven't accompanied OH on our usual walk. Feel a bit lethargic anyway.
The delivery was an early presie from OH, a Deutzia rosa 'Cherry Blossom' which I've wanted for ages. The flowers are white with a pale pink stripe so I'm planting it next to white and pink roses in the front garden.

What a relief to have the rain @Ante which has cooled the temps down. As you say, it will save on watering all your veggies.

Hope anybody heading for the Chunnel has a good trip. Glad you enjoyed having your son and family to stay @Busy-Lizzie but I bet you're rather exhausted today!

Enjoy the parish meeting with the MP @RowlandsCastle.

@Ladybird4, my OH tells me that diversion signs start and finish at the same place if that makes sense (it doesn't to me but oh well!) so basically a circular route. Each diversion sign should have the same identifying logo, i.e. a small circle or square to ensure you follow the correct diversion and not a different one! He and his brother used to do rallying in the olden days using maps and he'll follow a map using other indicators such as railway lines, churches, rivers, bridges etc.
