    Morning folks.
The grass is having a haircut before the rain comes. Petrol in mower was low so OH took some from the motorbike! Oh! It’s spitting now! “Everybody in!” (Peter Kay!).

Aunty duties this afternoon so catch you later.

      Good afternoon everyone!!

An few hour's respite as my nieces and nephews (6) have gone to the beach for the afternoon. I have marinated some chicken thighs which we will have tonight and I am sitting down inside in the cool - even the dog has decided to come in and sit under the table. Yes @floralies we have the heat too although today there is a sea breeze. We had a lovely apero yesterday evening then walked down to the promenade for dinner. (I am paying dearly today - my hip and knee are extremely painful).

Avocadoes here @redstar are 1euro 60 each in the SM but at the fresh markets they were going to 5euros for 10!!

Enjoy your afternoon everyone and enjoy the welcome rain @Ante1 We're still in the hot but that
storm after the heat will catch us up here at some stage too.

        Good afternoon everyone.

I love your dahlias @Penny_Forthem. Rich but gentle colours. I seem to have lost more than half of mine. I leave them in the ground and in a normal winter that's fine but this one was very wet and any that survived were swamped with weeds which we've only recently managed to clear. Naturally, the gladioli I was given and don't really like have all survived and thrived at the end of the border and my own sown Bishop's Children have done well but not my favourites. A re-think is needed but first I'll let the chooks in for a clean-up. It's a cutting border in the veg plot.

I like the sound of your Deutzia @lizzie27. I had a white one in Belgium but none here, so far.

Good luck to all travelling today. Must admit to avoiding the Chunnel and Dover at the start and end of hols. I hope your son and co enjoyed their visit @Busy-Lizzie. How long will yu have your nieces and nephews @Tui34

Cooler here today with thunderstorms expected this evening but only a dribble of rain so watering needs doing. At least it won't be humid which helps with sleeping. Tomorrow will be cooler and cloudy but dry. Good cuttings weather perhaps.

Enjoyed the coverage of Tatton on GW.

Asking Google. 1 euro equals $1.09 American. Ok---given that information then---over here in PA. some stores sell Avocadoes for 89 cents each, some for $1.60 each.
I do not see any avocadoes in the "fresh veggie markets".
Once when we were traveling, forgot which state we were in they actually had Avocadoes as part of their breakfast offerings.

Saturday. 9:20AM 73. have to spend time out in the garden today.

Yesterday, Brother in law came by, helped husband with finishing the inside of the garage, hanging the paneling, arranging the electrical wires. Today husband complaining of all the aches and pains from yesterdays job. SMH. He still has more to do in the garage to detail it up.

We have 8 more sleeps to go before our next trip. Driving to Louiseville, KY. we will stay in two places overnight prior to getting there. He can only drive with the trailer for about 5 hours. I do not drive with the trailer attached. Anyway, so thoughts on packing are creeping in already. Unfortunately we will be staying in hotels. One thing I cannot stand about USA hotels, they do not open their windows. But, we have discovered a decent hotel chain, it is found more mid-west than on the east cost called Drury --they actually include supper with your stay.

Ok off to whatever. Take care all.

I met my MP. He's the youngest ever MP for his current constituency - and at 80, that must be some sort of record.

Does anyone have any idea what this might be? It's not supposed to be a pear, or apple. But, I'm stuck. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Just wondering if it’s a quince @RowlandsCastle although I haven’t checked out what quince foliage is like. Edited to add that the foliage isn’t right.:noidea:

                        Afternoon all.
@AuntyRach, your Peter Kay 'remark' made me smile - I love that one about the dinner ladies.
@Tui34, I was introduced to Apero by my sister and it is a truly delicious and summery drink. Could just go one now!
@Obelix-Vendée, it has been extremely oppressive here all day. I honestly thought that there would be a thunderstorm earlier when it went very dark. After yesterday's sunshine it has been disappointingly sunless. One of my friends is going to Tatton tomorrow - the final day.
@redstar, I think I would find the inablity to open windows rather claustrophobic too. Nice that you have found a place to stop over that will provide you with something to eat because that is some journey you will have to make.
Good grief @RowlandsCastle, your MP isn't called Biden by any chance? :heehee: I agree with @Penny_Forthem about your fruiting tree being a medlar. They can be eaten raw or cooked.

But they make delicious jam, @RowlandsCastle! Jus' sayin' :)
We got a bit drenched this afternoon. Springers don't mind a bit of rain.
Some hideous bit of spam infected my 'pooter later this afternoon, but lovely next door neighbour came round and kicked all the bad guys into touch.... phew. I owe him a decent bottle of red. Even with anti thingy protection, it found a way to do pop ups.
                          Frightened me to whatsits.
Big cricket match over the road, too. Huge cheer when someone bought a round!!

I should have known. We visited Buckenham Castle, just outside New Buckenham, in Norfolk, and I believe they had such a tree within the earthworks. We had to get the key from the village shop, and then lock ourselves in, to stop others getting in.
It was a great experience, and I got plenty of photos.
The fruit was falling from the tree at the time.

We only have a few fruit on our tree. Something to nurture.
                              Thank you @Penny_Forthem and @Bluejayway
