I have never been lucky enough to see a swallowtail in real life @Tui34 and @floralies and I'm still waiting to see any butterflies in my garden. This year has been a very poor year for them.
@Busy-Lizzie, the first time I was introduced to peanut butter - the smooth variety - was in Leiden in Holland when we went to stay with my Mum's cousin. I wasn't very old at the time. They call it pindakaas there. I was not too keen at first but it grew on me!

Maybe that's why she likes me!! :hapydancsmil::blue thumb:

I think the Dutch tend to use peanut butter in Indonesian dishes whereas the USA uses it on bread and toast with jelly. Different uses so different flavours I expect tho I've never tried the Indonesin stuff they sell in the Vietnamese store and always by UK or American made.

@Ladybird4 it's been a very poor year for butterflies here too tho I have seen one or two tortoiseshells and some smaller brown jobbies that don't sit still long enough to identify. I grew fennel in my Belgian grden and one year only we had swallowtail caterpillars which were fat and green and had a way of reacting to what they perceived as danger. I only ever saw one adult. Neither fennel nor dill have attracted them here - yet.

Thank you, @Badly_Maintained ! Congratulations on your week with the girls - memorable but exhausting, I bet!

Plenty of ex-pats in this little town, so our local shop sells such delights as marmite, treacle, golden syrup etc. No pork pies, though. I hadn't realised they were such a British product (and never had a craving for one until we couldn't buy them, of course).

We really dislike American peanut butter because it's full of added palm oil and sugar. But maybe that's just the variety the supermarket sent, and others are more palatable... however, I'm with Mrs @RowlandsCastle - the 100% peanut variety is definitely the best.

Yes @Liriodendron we have to check for palm oil in everything now, including Possum's choc hazelnut spread tht she puts on drop scones and pancakes.

I am another one who agrees with @RowlandsCastle's OH. 100% peanuts please.
@Liriodendron and @Obelix-Vendée I also refuse anything with palm oil in it.
I am quizzing tonight - not quiz master as last week but actually taking part in the answering. I am signing out for today and hope that you all have wonderful evenings. See you all tomorrow some time.

@Badly_Maintained those young lasses will never forget that week with you. As a child, I'd look out (on a rare clear day) from the Llŷn peninsular at the mountains of Mourne. I still would love to visit...one day.

Peanut Butter. I find it delightful, smooth or nutty, not every day, some mornings peanut butter toast with jam and coffee is lovely. Sometime I get low blood sugar and a spoon of peanut butter takes care of that.

anyway, yes, I have cooked with Peanut butter in soups, there is an awesome I make with it, and sweet potato, kale, chicken broth, ginger, tomato paste, onion, garlic. its yummy.

and we can't forget Peanut butter cookies. a real treat, one of the first cookies I ever made at a young age of 10 years old, easy.

Peanut butter on simple white bread, wrapped in cling to take along if you think your not going to find lunch somewhere, lasts well without fridge.

Ok, enough about Peanut Butter. Have a good night. it almost 8PM for me here.

                        Hello everyone!
@RowlandsCastle, another fantastic and so so clever topper there. The attention to detail is just marvellous - I love all of it but particularly the chips in the newspaper. It must be such fun walking around the village. As @Penny_Forthem says, thank you so much for sharing the pictures.
Well we were beaten last night in the quiz - the last match for this season and in a fortnight there will be the presentation night and that is it until September. Despite the loss I enjoyed the night.
I think it might be sunny today.

Lovely sunny day. No wind. Cool now so I'd better do the bike run before it gets too hot for Fizz.

I'd love some normal English sausages @Busy-Lizzie Real bangers!! Safe trip home. I use peanut butter for marinades. We always want or crave what is difficult to get @Liriodendron

Actually LB I haven't seen the guy for some time. I do go out earlier.

When I was at the Gendarme Station on Sunday, I mentioned the incident to the gendarme who was dealing with my nephew's statement. She gave me a little insight as to what I should do if I felt threatened.
