The socks sound wonderful @lizzie27. I hope you both get a good sleep tonight and you can get some gardening done tomorrow and some physio for your OH.

@lizzie27, so pleased to read the news of your OH. I hope he continues to recover well. Having read about the fetching compression stockings I feel a bit cheated as when I had my op I had white ones. Admittedly they did have pale blue heels.
@floralies I have been thinking about getting a 'picker upper' to help me to pick up 'stuff' that likes to be just out of my reach in the GH.

              Morning all.

I hope you both slept well @lizzie27, though I expect it won't have been easy for your OH if he's not used to sleeping on his back.

We will be leaving late morning @Ladybird4. The packing is done, except for my laptop and the cool bag. There is a bit of tidying to do in the kitchen, compost and bin to empty.

                Morning all.

That’s a swift turn-around on the hip @lizzie27 - great news he is home. Hopefully all nursing duties will be minimal.

Have a safe and straightforward journey @Busy-Lizzie - I expect you are itching to see what the garden is like.

I could fancy one of those croissants @Tui34!

You’ve got me thinking @floralies, @Ladybird4 and lizzie about finding a grabber for my Dad. Maybe we all need one in our lives?!

Bit cloudy and drizzly here so washing bedding is postponed. I might go to the new SM near me today - it’s a frozen food one.

                Have a good day everyone.

A thoroughly miserable day. Couldn't settle to anything. Had to take my dog to the vet for an ultra sound scan. He has a distended stomach, he had a blood test done last week which showed anomalies in his red blood cells. The scan shows an enlarged liver and gall bladder, no mass, no fluid, no obvious reason why, so they took samples from his liver for testing. Poor chat, when I collected him he was still a bit woozy from the sedation and very stiff and sore. He is brighter this morning but he has to take it easy for a couple of days, his heart function is fine, normal temperature, eating normally, toileting normal. Really worrying as he is 13 years old.
Thank goodness I have insured him for vets bills. I did think of cancelling his insurance this year but decided to continue.

Sorry to hear about your dear dog @Goldenlily26. Fingers crossed the vet can do something.
We took our old girl (a springer, 15 and nearly a half) for her MOT and boosters yesterday. The vet suggested Librella and, as she's insured, that would cover part of the costs.
As for a picker upper, my OH has trained middle dog to pick up/fetch. She very good at it, but only one downside; I take off my shoes and find they've been taken to 'Dad'!
Meeting my cousins for lunch today - I only found out I had cousins about 20 months ago. I popped an old photo on the village FB page and low and behold, she replied and we discovered we were second cousins. Scary that we think and look so much alike.
I hope your hub managed to sleep last night @lizzie27 and that you, too, managed a good few hours.
Envious of your forthcoming trip @Obelix-Vendée

                        Good morning,

It looks as if we are going to have another nice day.

Glad your OH op went well @lizzie27.

Feeling a bit washed out this morning, neither OH or I slept well at all, both disturbed by headache and achy limbs and scratchy throat. Think we are just going to laze around today and perhaps catch up on some sleep. I should have had an eye test this afternoon, but have rescheduled it for next week, don’t want to spread anything around.

I hope your dog soon feels better @Goldenlily26.

Trip into town went like a breeze @Ladybird4 and I arrived 20 minutes early!!

I bought one of those picker upper pinchers some time ago from Lidl. As I am due a hip op, I was advised they are very handy gadgets to have - and so be it because I sit at a bar to eat, so anything dropped is easily picked up without having to get off the stool! @lizzie27 Glad your OH's op went well and he is home. Best place.

That's worrying about your dog @Goldenlily26 when they don't find anything. Hopefully, just wind!!

Sounds like "Long Lost Family" @Penny_Forthem !!

It's soooo hot here. All the shutters are down against the afternoon sun. There's a hot wind blowing to boot. Probably not even nice at th beach either.

Morning everybody, thanks for all the good wishes for my OH, much appreciated. Pleased to report we both had a good night. I went to bed at 10pm as I was so tired and woke at 6 am so checked on OH who was also awake. Gave him some more paras then we both had another snooze for a couple of hours. He has to get up at night 3 or 4 times anyway so has got used to it.

He was given his picker-upper by the NHS after his last op and they didn't want it back - it's come in very handy as I can also use it to pick things up out of my reach in cupboards. etc. We had two old ones as we occasionally do a litter pick along our lane but this one is better. A great idea for your Dad @AuntyRach and for you @floralies.

Hope you have a good trip back to France @Busy-Lizzie.

Do hope your dog recovers well @Goldenlily26, such a worry for you.

I'd better get out in the garden whilst OH is sitting still and reading the paper!

I've just come in from the garden - pooped! I had also put some washing on - mostly Cricket's bedding and whilst the cycle was running I cut down a young tree that had appeared mysteriously next to my camellia, planted out six of my twenty foxgloves a gaura and a hydrangea. I broke off from gardening to peg out and isn't it really annoying when you accidently drop a peg and it has the unerring ability to conceal itself in the plants? To be re-discovered in the Autumn no doubt! Grrr!
@AuntyRach, several weeks back, on Gardeners World, they had a couple who specialised in cacti and succulents and I spotted that they used grabbers to move their pots about on the staging. I thought that was a super idea.
@Busy-Lizzie, hope your journey goes smoothly and uneventfully.
My heart goes out to you @Goldenlily26 as all we pet owners know how extra special these wonderful creatures are and how integral they are to our happiness. Hopefully he will recover from these symptoms and bring you more joy.
@Penny_Forthem, that reminds me of meeting my Canadian cousin last month. I did know of her but had never met her before and would have passed her in the street.
Sorry to read you are not feeling too rosy @Blue arbour. Put your feet up and have a restful day. Good idea to reschedule you appointment.
@Tui34, that has decided me on getting a grabber now. Glad you got to your appointment in plenty of time.
                              Right, back outside now!
