Have you heard me talk about the local tractor run? Maybe?
A procession of all sorts of 'em through the local lanes, ending in the Eryrys Vintage Gathering. You have to be on time; they don't wait for you!
We were ready to mosey down to the pub to bag our space with a cider, when caravan NDN turned up. My heart sank. Don't get me wrong, he's a good egg, but talk about talking the hind leg off a donkey - and if your donkey has got four legs, his has got six. Hub mentioned a Lister engine - he had, well, six. There's a surprise.
I kept an eye on the time and tried to butt in.
Five minutes later (or was that six?) we were, to put it mildly, too late.
We jumped in the car and scooted off, only to catch the last few.
We followed them down the lanes and wished them well at the gathering.

Been watching Andy Murray and Dan Evans playing in the Olympic Men's Tennis Doubles This is so not good for my BP but it has that hypnotic draw. If I was a nail biter then I would have reached my knuckles by now. Hope this is not a spoiler but they won! Sorry your chatty neighbour made you late for the full tractor run.

We had a chicken stir fry tonight with veggies from the garden, curly kale, chard, shredded cabbage, red onion, courgette and mushrooms but the latter was bought in the SM. I did more watering. it's very warm this evening.

Oh, what a shame @Penny_Forthem, and so frustrating especially as you’d planned to be there in good time. It’s unfortunate that you couldn’t have said to your neighbour that you had an important engagement and must dash - but that kind of person don’t tend to take the hint, do they, even if it’s with a sledge hammer rather than subtlety? You sound too nice to be rude and just say “sorry, can’t stop” and go, but it sounds as if that’s what your neighbour needs - cut off mid flow, so to speak (but in a nice way, of course).

              Good Morning

There’s about 7 juvenile magpies on next door’s tree this morning for my coffee companions today. I might water a few pots before I go to work as it will be warm today.

How lovely to have a home-grown veggie medley @Busy-Lizzie . I made a courgette gratin with my first harvest yesterday- really good.

              Have a smashing Monday folks.

A very good morning to you @AuntyRach and all arriving soon. It is already scorchio here and the garden beckons. I am being scolded by my little birds as their feeder is empty again. I gave my pots a good watering last night. I have a 'stable' door for my back door and I open the top half every morning when its warm enough. I've just spied Cricket weighing it up as I'm not quite sure he understands what it is. He has resorted to his cat flap to exit the kitchen.
@PatE I shivered when I heard about your snow yesterday. Hopefully your season will soon be on the turn.

Me too Ladybird. It was minus 7 in town this morning. The ski resorts are happy though.

We can't leave any of the three doors to the house, open, without keeping an eye on them. Birds have a habit of coming to say hello.

I am already exhausted watching the Olympics. I tried not to spend all day in front of the TV but there were so many exciting close finishes, down to 'nths of seconds and points. Oh dear Andy! I am not sure I can cope with another nail biter from him. His poor family having to sit and watch that performance. Well done Beatty and the rest of the competitors, medal winners and runner ups so far.

                        Morning all.

Forecast says 37C today here in SW France :yikes: I must get out and do some dead heading before it gets that hot. We had the fan on in the bedroom as it was 26C in there. I went to sleep but woke at 3am and had to turn it off, too noisy.

Good morning everyone. Already hot and set to get to 35C tho it will feel hotter as there is no breeze. I did all my dead heading yesterday and watered enough to get everything thru th eheat today so I shall be staying indoor still late this afternoon. I shall probably sort thru my seeds. i spent a bit of time on a seed porn site yesterday afternoon and don't want to double order. Beechgrove's fault for mentioning a leafy tagetes that smells and tastes of aniseed/liquorice.

We've had swallows and sand martins swooping in to look for potential nesting sites so I hung the insect curtain over the main doorway that stays open and have put a net over the kitchen window. I did have 2 sparrows yesterday - one in each flue - but we now know to open the nearest window and close the door before opening the fireplace to let them fly out.

@Goldenlily26 Possum has caught my cold and is not happy. I still have coughing fits now and again. At least we have in stock all the meds needed to deal with hers. I do hope anyone else with colds or Covid isn't suffering too much and heals quickly.

@AuntyRach we have a surplus of young magpies whose parents have taught them to scavenge under our fat ball feeders and bully the smaller birds at the ground feeders' slab. They're a noisy bunch.

Panzanella for dinner tonight but I've had to buy the heritage tomatoes for it as mine are still mostly embryonic.

                          Stay cool everyone.

                            Good morning folks!

Yes @Busy-Lizzie , we're in for a heat wave and I believe that you are going to be hotter than we are down here. Dordogne area is in for it and the red alert is out for heat and fires. Stay cool and inside @Obelix-Vendée and @floralies and @Dordogne Damsel if you are reading. We have a sea breeze here which gives us 1 or 2 degrees.

I have been enjoying the diving - the British Team are doing sooo well in the men's synchronised diving!

Early lunch and stay in the cool for me. I hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine.

Yes, we're on orange alert here @Tui34.

Forgot to say @Penny_Forthem I don't think it would have been rude to tell your neighbour that you'd love to chat but another time as you had plans to see the tractor parade.

We have one here too but it doesn't seem to be publicised much. We only know about it when a whole stream of geriatric tractors of all shapes and sizes goes thundering down our road - and back again after their tour.
