Good afternoon all. I visited the local GC this morning as I wasn't going to be seeing my Bestie. I am starting looking for the first bulb deliveries but it is still a bit too early yet. I didn't come away empty handed though as they had some special offers on on lavender plants and I picked up an achillea and an anthriscus. When I got home my two green garden waste bins had been emptied but annoyingly the general refuse bin had been left. I did check on my neigjbours and their bins had been emptied. In all the 40 odd years I have lived here it has only happened once before but I discovered that I now have to wait until 20:00 hours before I can report a missed bin. Apparently this is when they finished their 'rounds'! Yeah, right! I've never seen any refuse lorries around at that time of night. Still, I will do as they ask.

@Penny_Forthem, your new chair looks wonderful and I hope you spend many happy hours just sitting!
@Obelix-Vendée, my Lily used to be quite vocal and would announce her hunting success with little noises too. I cannot believe we are talking harvest already though I bet @Ante1 is in the thick of it
Thank you @Badly_Maintained. It is an amazing colour with beautiful iridescence on the petals.
@redstar, thank you for posting that picture of your kirengeshoma as it reminded me that mine needed a good watering - now done. It was flagging this morning and its flowers are nowhere near as far on as yours - mere buds at the moment. In the absence of humming birds I'm hoping my bees enjoy the feast.

@Ergates, I hope you didn't have to lift your leg/squat at every fence post on your walks! Said @Ladybird4!

Thankfully not, left that to the dog! However, after she had gone home, I did find myself, at bedtime, wondering what important task I had left undone. Finally worked it out, offered to take OH out to the garden to do a wee before lights out! Offer declined, not especially politely!

Usual trip out this morning, with a decent walk. Cuddled lots of dogs and several donkeys. I’d planned to do some more weeding in the shade when we got home, but it was too hot here, so instead did a video chat with a dear friend who lives in Spain. And another friend, from school, has emailed to see if I’m in for a phone chat this evening. So no chores done, but a really enjoyable day overall!
I wonder if we will get any rain down here? The Folk Festival starts in Sidmouth at the weekend, and the camping site is already filling up, so maybe the clouds are hanging back for maximum impact?

I believe the person concerned was intersex, last year they had been banned by boxing's governing body. However this governing body was disbarred from organising the Olympic boxing and the Olympic organising body did not have the same rule so they were allowed to box at the Olympics.

Evening all. Just had a thunderstorm with lightning which seems to have started a fire across the valley from us. It looks like a house has been hit, I hope no-one is hurt.

Had a chase around today on a health issue, tick bite. We have a minor injuries unit in our small local hospital which claims to deal with insect bites and stings but doesn’t now. Apparently that now falls to the pharmacy who can examine you and provide antibiotics if necessary. So checked with them but no, they don’t do tick bites as they require a longer course of antibiotics so you need to see the GP. Booked a phone consultation which turned into an actual GP appointment ten minutes later. Quick look and yes it is probably Lyme disease so now on 3 weeks of antibiotics.

All a bit of a faff but at least the MIU, pharmacy and GP are all very close together and I have been dealt with very quickly and effectively so a thumbs up from me. I always felt it was only a matter of time before I caught Lyme given the hundreds of tick bites I have suffered over the last few years. This gardening lark is dangerous!

If I was really organised I would put a bottle of water in the fridge for Rob and I to share! Cheaper than buying a posh dog bowl I cann't drink from. I would spill water all over myself.

Hello everyone. Goodness me @steephill, you certainly had a run around yesterday but I'm pleased to read that eventually you got dealt with regarding the tick bite. That is quite a shocking picture of the lightning strike and as both you and @Liriodendron said, I too, hope that no-one was injured.
@Rowlands_Castle, I do hope you and your OH are not fighting over who has what fruit to eat!
It is Cricket's birthday today - he is 2. He gets spoiled enough so there will be nothing special going on. I am meeting up with my Quiz friends for our regular 'first Friday of the month' lunch. Today we are eating at a lovely place near to Rufford Old Hall and I'm looking forward to it.

As advised, I contacted the council at 20:01 last night. Filled in the necessary form and finally received a message telling me to leave my bin out before 06:30 on Monday. All I can say is that I'm glad I do not produce too much general waste.

                                Morning all.

Bedroom was much cooler last night and I slept better. Air outside is cooler too this morning though it should be in the late 20s this afternoon.

My yellow peach tree has died. It was fine last year and had masses of fruit but we went ti Norfolk and missed it. Handyman CB had it. The white peach tree is OK. That had loads of fruit last year too but it's earlier so I was able to freeze a lot.

I hope to weed the orchard fence bed today, where the yellow roses are. Did the donkey paddock fence yesterday where the clematis are.
