Wow @Liriodendron, if that were my view from a hill beyond my house (no hills here, unless former slag heaps from coal mining now grassed over, count, and certainly no lochs -:biggrin:), I’d be ecstatic. You are, indeed, fortunate to have that wonderful view on your doorstep. How beautiful it looks.

Good morning all. Oh my goodness @Liriodendron! That view is jaw droppingly beautiful. If I had that outlook I doubt I would get anything done as I would just want to sit and soak it all up. Thank you for sharing that with us.

Weather looking pretty good at the moment. Fingers crossed it stays all day. Whatever you have got planned for today, I hope you have a good one.

Hello everyone. We look as though we might get some rain at last. About time.

              Good morning all!!

Benediction of horses today! The theme is the Olympics A village festival in honour of Saint Roch who saved sheep from foot and mouth. We have had rain so the air is much cooler.

              Enjoy your Friday folks.

                Morning all.

That's a beautiful view, @Liriodendron, but is it Scotland? I thought you moved to Ireland.

I must clear up the open barn/garage this morning as there is a big delivery of logs coming this afternoon, first of two.

I spent a couple of hours weeding the vegetable garden yesterday.

                  Good morning everyone,

Just popping in to say I hope you're all well, and to add how much I'm enjoying reading about the adventures of @Liriodendron 's Mum and hoglets .

It's so lovely to hear of healthy hedgehogs . Being a supporter of my local hedgehog rescue, I'm only too aware of the dangers they face.

Enjoy your day at Southport @Ladybird4. I am very envious.
Say hello to Adam Frost for me, I do like him. Hoping for some photos if you have the time (not necessarily of Adam !).

                  Best wishes to all.

Good morning. We have internet today and also a mobile phone signal. None yesterday so riches indeed.

We headed to the old port yesterday morning in search of cappuccino fixes and found some wonderful boats. Millions of dinari tho and my preference is for sailing boats anyway. Thunderstorms had threatened all night and rumbled around all morning then hit the port around lunchtime so we stayed on and had local dishes. Pasta and pesto for Possum and pansoti (pasta filled with pesto and served with a walnut sauce) so good local peasant food.

Found a proper Italian beach in the afternoon when the sun came out and sat and watched Italians at play while sipping long, cold drinks. It's fascinating and brought back happy memories of childhood hols for Possum. It was Assumption yesterday so everywhere was closed so we're off to see what's on offer for today. More exploring. Possum has not yet asked to drive. The locals are a bit too exciting for her and there are roadworks and bad or no signage all over.

It's almost all apartments here too except for some very luxurious merchant's mansions along the coast so no gardens that I can see. What there are have bougainvillea, oleander, palms and conifers. Not for me.

I love that view @Liriodendron but it's just not warm enough for me up there. Pleased you've found some food for the hedgehogs and that the bairn is doing his duty and eating slugs.

Hope you enjoy the show @Ladybird4. Good luck clearing the barn @Busy-Lizzie.

I like Adam too @AnniD. Lovely man and happy to speak to folk at Chelsea whereas MD turns his back to avoid them IME.

Have a lovely day everyone, whatever you're doing.

                      Morning all.

Yes, @Busy-Lizzie , the photo is of our family's cottage in Scotland - and yes, I have moved to Ireland! Our daughter, son in law and 2 granddaughters live not too far from us here, and that was one reason for our move. Another was OH's health; in Yorkshire we lived in a house with 27 stairs and no downstairs loo. Todmorden was just too steep, though beautiful... and we couldn't afford to move near our son, daughter in law and 2 grandsons in York. Houses in Ireland are cheaper, or were 5 years ago, and we found a bungalow near a little town. And another reason for the move was Brexit...

That photo is my screen saver on this Chromebook. I get to the cottage as often as I can, to do maintenance, and to sit and look at the view... if it isn't raining!

Scottish temperatures are fine for me, @Obelix-Vendée . It's a good thing we're not all the same! Glad your trip is going well - the food sounds great, but it's a pity that the gardens are disappointing.

Hello, @PatE ! Hope you're keeping warm under Pixel the cat.

Looking forward to a flower show report, @Ladybird4 .

                          Remember me?
Feel as if I've been away ages, though it's probably only a couple of days!
Hub's birthday surprise was executed to perfection - his face when his sister appeared at our door. Priceless.
I can feel us sliding into autumn; the leaves are very gradually changing and there is an air of ripe crops and harvest.
Not in my greenhouse though. It never really hit summer.
                          What a view @Liriodendron
I hope @PatE is sliding towards spring now.
Last time I drove in Italy was 2008 and I said never again! We have been several times to Venice though, staying self catering on the islands.

Afternoon all. Plenty of chats and stories between you all.

I'm watching two dragonflies doing laps of the garden in the sunshine whilst I’m having a post shopping cuppa. It’s also bee-central today. Lavender is the favourite, closely followed by Helenium, then the Abelia (just coming out). I was going to harvest some Lavender today, but it’s too ‘busy’!

I hope Friday is being kind to you all.

                                Evening everybody,

What a gorgeous view @Liriodendron. I thought ours was good but it can't compete with that one! Reminds me of our Scottish camping holidays when I was a teenager although I didn't appreciate being cut off from civilisation then! I'm a town girl at heart, unlike my siblings.
                                Love the hedgehog updates.

Sorry @Obelix-Vendée , I got my Italian towns mixed up earlier. Have a safe journey back.

Hope you've enjoyed the Southport Show @Ladybird4 and come home with lots of goodies. I too, like Adam Frost.

That's not your gateposts by any chance is it @RowlandsCastle ?

How nice to hear from you @PatE, hope everything's been okay.

Good luck with the furniture staining @redstar, a very tedious job usually.
