Afternoon all, warm and muggy here with one short, sharp unexpected shower just after we got back from our usual morning walk. Decided to have a lazy day after two rather busy ones out in the garden but after I'd taken OH to physio this afternoon, had a go at wiring some of the broken slats in the trashed fence. Not sure I like the end result and couldn't reach the top ones but it might do temporarily.

Interesting goings-on @Liriodendron, hope the hog is still around. Enjoy your visitors.

Good news re the bereaved children @Badly_Maintained, hope the young relative will be able to cope. Congratulations on stepping up when many others wouldn't have.

Hope the sewing's going ok @Obelix-Vendée and that Possum catches your crafty habits.

Goodness me @Tui34, that fire looked awfully close. Hope it's ok today.

Enjoy your family get together @Ladybird4.

Good evening all. I have been watching the opening parade of the Paralympics and it is so annoying that the Beeb are not showing this like they did the Olympics and we are having to put up with dratted adverts. The official opening is yet to occur so I am going to say goodnight for now and I'll catch up and comment on your new posts tomorrow.

Hello there everyone. An amazing opening ceremony last night but the sound quality was very poor. I have total admiration for any sports person and his/her skills but these competitors are wonderful.

@Obelix-Vendée I do hope that Possum continues crafting as it becomes a very rewarding hobby - whichever craft is taken up. We have a place in the village which runs classes on upcycling old wooden furniture, concentrating on the weathered, limed finish to old wooden items.
@Tui34, that fire looks absolutely dreadful so I am pleased the smoke and fumes were blowing away from your home. I hope anyone living downwind were able to secure their houses to avoid the worst. I cannot understand the mind set of someone who would deliberately cause an inferno like that.
Thank you all so very much for your kind wishes for my sister and BIL. I was laughing with them yesterday as even they cannot believe where those fifty years have gone.

to @Topbird and her OH as it is their anniversary today too.
@Badly_Maintained it seems as though your history with wearing glasses is similar to mine. I have myopia too. I wear varifocals - even my contact lenses were varifocals - but I will try your little tip.
@Blue arbour, I too love the sound of 'piggy pies'. I'll bet they are delicious. My friend cooks her gammon in cola too.
@Liriodendron, I wondered if returning to the plastic dish tempted your hedgehog back to the feeding station. Have a lovely day today with your visitors.
@Penny_Forthem, thank you for the tip about Lidl. Those vinegars you make do sound rather lush.
If I have missed anyone's news I apologise but will check again later. Today is hot gossip day and I'm having my hair done too - it needs it!

                Good morning all.

                Happy Anniversary to @Topbird.

My pergola should arrive today after 11am. Would have been better on the original day, Tuesday, as it's raining. The garden really needs the rain though, so I'm glad it's raining.

                  Good morning everyone.

We have rain forecast too @Busy-Lizzie and I do hope it comes in generous amounts. Set to be better next week tho so good for pergola construction.

@Ladybird4 it's a slow process. Sat here waiting for her to finish dressing so she can do the SM run with us and choose some paint at the DIY shop. She's done a good job of sanding a small chest of drawers as a pilot project. Let's hope the final results inspire her to get on with the real one. Enjoy your haircut and gossip.

Great picture @Tui34. Cool here so not muggy - yet.

We probably won't construct the pergola until next year, @Obelix-Vendée, as it's too late to put the garden furniture out. We go back to Norfolk on the 9th. It's to stop the cushions being stained by mulberries which drop off the tree for about 3 months, also bird droppings as they sit in the tree stuffing themselves with mulberries.

                      Good Morning all.

Aunty duties finished for the week so having a quiet day. We did some art with pressed flowers yesterday for our ‘craft-a-noon’.

I didn’t see the Paralympics opening ceremony but I’ll try to catch some of the games. I really like the wheelchair tennis so will be looking out for that.

Have a decent day all and let’s hope Summertime stays for a few weeks yet.

                        Good morning all,

A fresher feel to the day today, but also sunny, so a pleasant day. I’m glad it’s freshened up a bit as it was very muggy through the night last night, so hoping it will be more comfortable for sleeping tonight.

I saw the opening ceremony highlights on the news this morning and thought they looked quite impressive.

                        Happy anniversary @Topbird.

Back from Lidl with a good haul of Italian week things I wanted - and some I didn't even know I did want!! Sell by dates checked and I can put some away until the big C day.
Unfortunately, nothing Italian about the weather today.

Make a lemon tart. Not lemonade!

Going back to whoever mentioned cooking in coca-cola, I recently did some chicken using a recipe that stipulated coca-cola. Couldn't bring myself to do it given that I've seen it strip varnish off a desk at the office and have used it to remove rust from wheels under old furniture I'm renovating. Not to mention that C-C are the biggest pollutors with plastic bottles on the planet.

I used Old Jamaica ginger beer instead and it was luscious.

Back to teh sewing. Only popped in whle my tea brewed.

We have found the remnants of a kilner jar of sloe gin from 2016. I am having a thimble full. If I'm whirring my slirds, you know the reason why. Hic.
