It's been a mostly grey day here with quite a bit of blue stuff but also looming clouds creeping up and looking serious. Warm but not muggy so I've done lots of pottering about.

Sewing room all cleaned up and tidied after the patchwork blitz and thank you emails and other admin bits done following this weekend's Forum and in anticipation of our AGM which starts our season on the 16th. Home grown cucumbers prepped and salted for bread and butter pickles and potatoes dug up for roasting with olive oil, rosemary and garlic and a Savoy cabbage picked for dinner.

We have 3 old bath towels we keep by the door for when we had wet doggies. Almost as much fun as walkies. Wet cats come in thru the catflap and get rubbed down with tissues or a towel depending. They love it.

Another early night for me I think. Good luck with the studying @AuntyRach.

A very good morning to you all. Here is a new bit of knowledge I discovered. Today is
      World coconut day.jpg
I am not exactly sure how it is celebrated - and where - but it reminded me of an amusing story one of my friends told me. She had a half coconut hanging on her bird table and a cheeky squirrel shinned up and knocked it off. It landed on the patio and the squirrel jumped down and grabbed hold of it. However, as it bit the edge of the coconut it flipped upwards, completely covering the squirrel's face. Now, unsighted, yet reluctant to release its prize the squirrel ran erratically around the patio like a mini mobile battering ram colliding with plant pots. It didn't give up though and eventually got itself and the coconut away down the garden. I would have loved to have seen that.
Now that it is a little lighter I can see that all my shrubs are dripping wet. I do hope it dries out soon.

        Good morning all.

I hope you all had a pleasant weekend. Beautiful morning here - cool but we had a nice shower last night which was good for the air. Probably the remnants of @Busy-Lizzie and @Obelix-Vendée 's rain that they had.

Good morning @Tui34. I enjoyed some blueberries with my breakfast. When is it you go into hospital for your op?

            Good morning all.

We had rain in the night and now it's foggy. Should be quite hot by this afternoon. Rain tomorrow then much cooler for the foreseeable.

I hope there will be enough sun to get all the washing dry before we go back to Norfolk on the 9th.

Morning @Busy-Lizzie. It is persisting down here but quite warm. Ho hum, perfect conditions for more weeds to shoot up. Deep joy!

Good morning all. Grey here in Kent. Overcast, but not raining - yet. It'll probably wait until we have the washing out!!
Got to chase my tree surgeon, and odd-job man, and try to arrange a hospital appointment that has been cancelled.
Then I need to prune the New Zealand Hebes, and the hedges that are shooting up!!

I dry Cricket with an old face cloth @Obelix-Vendée. I used this with Lily too. Trouble is, Cricket just thinks its a big game and wants to wrestle, bite and bunny kick the flannel so I don't always achieve my target.

Morning everyone, no rain here at all, I spent most of yesterday watering, first at the Allotments, later the garden. The bit of rain we had over a week ago while useful was nowhere near enough.
Thanks for the comments about the green wall. Yes I set up a drip system, but in theory you just need to add water at the top and it will trikle down , in practice it's not quite that straightforward, but that was the main reason for the big clean up .
The main reason for it was to hide a very dominant fence at the end of the patio. Our road is on a slope so next doors path/ patio is quite a bit higher than ours, so even a standard hight fence panel, ends up nearly 2m high from our side.

                      Good morning,
Very dull here this morning, but still dry. We had some rain yesterday.
Coffee morning group this morning, then not sure what I’ll be doing yet. The grass could do with a trim, though.

Good day everyone. It's dull and grey here with dribbles forecast all day but it seemsmostly to be wet air. Bit of rain last evening but not overnight. @Ladybird4 our pair tend to come in wet in the night and jump up to tell me so bedside tissues it is. Might just get a facecloth ready for winter tho.

Kitchen duties this morning - cooking 3 grain rice for the chooks - laden with oregano and garlic then oilve oil added when cooling. They get some for breakfast every day and love it and it's good for their immune systems. Have also heated and potted the bread and butter pickles I salted yesterday. Now it's all being cleaned ready for the leccy man tomorrow.

Should be up to 27C this pm so maybe I'll get OH out helping with weeding. Need to call a tree surgeon too before the autumn storms arrive.

@RowlandsCastle I have a large white hebe that is being smothered by some pesky creeping climber thingy with small trembling leaves. It's lovely but a monster and will be banished. Then I'll be able to see if the hebe needs a trim too.

@Blue arbour hope you have a good natter at your coffee morning.

@Tui34 have you got your PJs/nightie and toothbrush packed yet? Soon isn't it?

                          Good Morning everyone.

I’ve done a few hours of study so just having a brunch break. I could fancy what’s on @Tui34 ’s calendar picture but I’ll have to settle for toast.

                          Have a decent Monday all.

Absolutely bucketed down here last night, really heavy rain and noisy. It had stopped briefly when I went out with the supper for the fox, but the patio had flooded and I inadvertently stepped into the puddle in non waterproof shoes. Annoyed I didn’t stick my feet into my wellies like I usually do, even when it’s dry!
At least no watering needed for a while. I was rather worried about the Japanese anemone I had planted out, despite soaking it first, and plenty of watering, it was looking very sorry for itself, all the unopened buds drooping over. However, after last nights deluge, it’s looking very perky, buds now upright and looking as if they will flower soon.
No gardening today, I’ll catch up on laundry and get the recycling out.
Hope all are safe and well.

I do like Japanese anemones @Ergates so pleased that your new one's OK now.

Our dribbles have turned into proper, steady rain of the kind that soaks in and doesn't just run off. Happy about that but it does mean more h****work as I no longer garden in the rain. That was for when I worked full time and only had a few weekends free to garden, come what may.

Should be dry tomorrow tho and it's a descending moon so a good time to take cuttings. I'm determined to get some more roses on their own roots instead of rootstock and there are shrubby salvias to reproduce too.

Rain Pah, few drops and dribbles, hardly enough to wet the path. Glad I watered yesterday. If anyone has any to share send it here please. :fingers crossed:
