@Allotment Boy I've never tried yoga before because I'm impatient but I need to stay flexible for another couple of decades yet. I used to be able to put my hands flat on the floor but now I am tighter behind the knees and can only get fingertips on the floor. Old age or new knees? I'll ask my physio next week about stretching them.

@Ladybird4 a friend here took me to a gong bath session last spring - relaxation and meditation with sounds. It would have been really relaxing had not she and two others started snoring.

Haven't seen a sparrowhawk here this year @Busy-Lizzie but we do have very stupid wood pigeons. One is nesting in the wisteria against the annex, right where Minstrel pussy climbs up and down to get on the roof.

The rain forecast has moved again - tomorrow wet bits, Sunday dry. Maybe I should do some washing and hang it out on the whirlygig.

A nice mix of plants there @Busy-Lizzie. It will be good to see the pics of your new rose next year.

I agree with you Obelix about stupid wood pigeons, ours drive us nuts. I don't think we've seen a sparrowhawk this year either but did in the preceding years.

Just back from our concert. It's "Culture Night" in Ireland, when lots of amateur groups put on free performances all round the country. We shared the evening with a male voice group who were very entertaining - and the audience, more than a hundred (to our surprise - lots going on simultaneously in the town) were appreciative. Now relaxing with a cup of tea.

They've changed our forecast too. We'll now be getting rain on Sunday afternoon, just when the Harvest Festival service is set to start...

Good morning everyone. Love the sound of all your plants @Busy-Lizzie. I see that David Austin have discontinued Rosa Leverkusen. Hoping for some more garden action today. Those bulbs are still waiting to be planted.

Good morning everyone. We have rain!! Started just before midnight with a flash of lightening right over the house - took out the middle row on our fuse board - and an instantaneous and very loud clap of thunder which woke me up. I'd gone to bed early as Monty's customary soporific delivery had its usual effect on me.

Spring - or should that be autumn? - cleaning for me then. No sun so I can tackle windows on the inside at least. Not exciting but needs doing.

My search showed Leverkusen was a Kordes rose @Ladybird. Must admit I'm becoming disenchanted with DA bred roses - gorgeous colours, flowers and perfume but too often tricky to establish.

                  Morning all.

Chap at Peter Beales said he had Leverkusen on a north wall and it's magnificent.

NDN Kay who died's grandchildren are here with a big removal van. They are taking loads of stuff to the tip. It's a wonder it all fitted into that little cottage. OH was going to the tip with the garden stuff that wouldn't go into the garden bin but they've offered to take it. I offered to help them but they said they are fine.

I am having my hair cut at lunchtime, then to the annual village fête. The new owners of the pub have brought it back to life. It was fun last year. The pub owners hadn't been here very long then and they have made such a good job of village entertainment.

Good afternoon everyone, early start (for us) this morning, had to be out by 08:30. Another eye clinic appointment. I must say it was much quieter and quicker than usual, fortunately all stable, even a small improvement so all good.
From there we went to one of our favourite GC in Enfield, for their "scruffy plant silly price sale ". Everything £2, shrubs, small trees perennials . We got 2 Argyranthemum, a Gordilinia grandiflora, 1 OLeria macrodonta, and a Corylus avellana, so £10 the lot.
Then we went a little further to Myddleton House, which was the home of EA Bowles, as the actual house was open as pat of Open London, it's office space now but there was lots about the history of the house and Bowles himself , we've been to the garden lots but you can't normally go in the house.

I stopped at the Bressingham Garden Centre on the way to having my hair cut and bought some Tête à Tête daffodils to plant among the geraniums. My hair is much less shaggy now.

We have just come back from the village fête. I won a box of Quality Street. Had a hog roast roll for lunch.

                        Good Afternoon all.

I hope anyone with thunder and rain storms is ok.

I often fall asleep to the sound of Monty, and need to re-watch the programme!

I hope all trips, gardening, potterings and general weekend stuff are going well for you all.

I’m just going to pick some cooking apples for doing crumbles. The harvest has been under-par this year. I’m hoping to have enough to take a bag full into work, plus a few crumbles or cakes for family.

In case anyone hasn't noticed, it's the autumn equinox today and that's significant in the old ways - celebrating harvests and cleaning out pantries and cupboards to store it and then feasting on brightly coloured root veggies and autumnal fruits. Fine by me as I needed a stock take and it's been raining most of the day.

In a break beween showers i went down to take the chooks their afternoon snack and collect eggs. They're leghorns and lay white ones so imagine my surprise when I went in their house and found a huge, 6 kilo lump in their nest box. Cosmos pussy had been sheltering from the rain in a nice cosy spot.

OH will have to go and play hunt the egg as they sometimes hide them under clematis along the veg plot fence.

I hate going to the hairdresser @Busy-Lizzie but with your thick mane I can see the need. I'm due to go at the end of November and then I'm good for another 2 years.

@Allotment Boy, that is a lovely collection of plants you got there - for a bargain price. I had to look up Gordilinia as that is a new plant to me. Lovely looking flowers on it.
@Busy-Lizzie, I planted more bulbs today but I still have 100 Tête à Tête to plant.
@Obelix-Vendée it is the Autumn Equinox tomorrow - Sun, 22 Sept 2024, 1:43 pm (UK time). I did smile at your puss cat snuggling in with the chooks. Cricket has made himself a nest in the tall plants in the front garden.

We have played dodge the thunder this afternoon.
One dog is so chilled as to not care. One dog is so deaf. Ditto.
Middle dog thought it gunfire and was up for retrieving game. She was disappointed.
Went out for lunch. Usually good, but the B team must have been on today. Forgot items on my dish, tough, dry.
                              Hub said the same.
                              Still raining.

The B team @Penny_Forthem - that made me chuckle.

                                How many bulbs @Ladybird4 ?!

I haven’t heard that pantry cleaning is an Autumn thing. I quite like that idea and I always clear a cupboard or a shelf ready for festive snacks. Cats always find the cosy spots don’t they @Obelix-Vendée.

                                Enjoy the evening folks.
