Good morning. It's grey and misty here and very mild. It should stay dry but we're in for a good downpour again tomorrow, unless they change their minds. That's fine as I shall be out at patchwork, starting with a morning fabric sorting session with committee colleagues.

Pottering sort of day in store - bit of sanding, processing tomatoes, trying to master a simple granny square technique which seems alien to me........

Glad you enjoyed you anniversary @lizzie27. Good to be with friends.

Great that you've had a good time too @Blue arbour and are safely home.

    Happy Sunday everyone.

Crossed @Tui34 - re roses, who knows? I took some in early August and only 1 shows signs of life. I took more a couple of weeks ago and this time put plastic bags over the pots and I blow those up now and again. Still green so far. I shall take more on Wednesday - flower day and descending moon.

Working on the basis that some of them will work at some point.

        Good morning Ladies & Gentlemen.

I've returned from a multi-day visit to the land of migraine.

Here are before & after photos of the car inspection ramps. They now look OK-ish I suppose. Might as well use up all those almost-empty tins of paint anyway. :)

I've also attached a photo of one of the cakes which I left into the A&E Dept when I took my Mother for her appointment on the 10th. I bought the cakes in the village shop (I always like to leave in a couple of cakes or a few packets of biscuits / cookies every time I am there, they are always seem to be well received).

The greater snowdrop bulbs which I ordered arrived, and I planted them as quickly as possible. They will either grow or they won't. :)

@lizzie27 I hear good things about cod liver oil capsules for joints & mobility (I can remember during my childhood when there were no capsules and you had to take it in spoonfuls from a glass bottle, and it was an "acquired taste" - i.e. not hugely pleasant :) ). Belated Happy Wedding Anniversary! :ccheers:

There seems to have been a slight shower last night, and that was the first drop of rain for at least a week.

Autumnal Equinox falls today I believe.

As usual - best wishes to all.

P.S. Please share this article on Pension Credit with anyone you think might benefit from it:

Morning, at last we seem to have had a decent amount of rain in the night. Might put some Autumn feed on the grass later. We need to sort out yesterday's purchases, as described they are not in the best condition so they need some tlc.

Yes officially Autumn, enjoy whatever is left of yor weekend.

            Good afternoon, folks!

I'm sure the nurses will have been very happy to receive that cake, @Badly_Maintained . Hope your snowdrops grow well!

It's not raining - forecast has shifted to dry, until Wednesday. I'll be out with the hose again this evening, I think. But no time for gardening yet; I'm up to page 715 (of 875!) in "The mirror and the light", the third in Hilary Mantel's trilogy about Thomas Cromwell, and it's due back to the library tomorrow. I've already renewed it once, and now it's been requested by another reader, so I've got to finish it in the next 24 hours...

And it's our Harvest Festival this afternoon. We got the church clean and shiny yesterday, and decorated with flowers, fruit & veg ready for the service. There will be tea and cake afterwards, for which I'm contributing the strawberry muffins (from the freezer) which I made during the glut this summer. OH is pre-diabetic, so he shouldn't be eating them anyway!

              Hello all.

I'm sorry you've been in the land of migraine @Badly_Maintained, not a nice place.

I like Harvest Festivals @Liriodendron. We had one last Sunday.

We are going to an opera and dinner evening. 4 soloists sing arias from operas and there is a wonderful buffet dinner. It's a rare chance to wear my evening dress.

                Good afternoon,

I’ve had a busy morning unpacking, loading the washing machine, grocery shopping and generally tidying around. My plan had been to go into the garden this afternoon to do a bit of dead heading and trimming back, but it has started raining heavily so that job is on hold. I hope it dries up a bit tomorrow so I can do it then as it’s green bin day on Tuesday. Instead, I’ve come on here to see what everyone is up to and then I think I’ll read my book.

I hope your harvest festival goes well @Liriodendron, and that you manage to finish reading your book :fingers crossed:.

So, the start of autumn is here. Although it’s quite mild (and wet) here, there’s a definite autumnal glow.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday folks.

I think today ranks as one of the worst for quite a few weeks. Just torrential rain and low cloud.
I always keep cans of soup on the van as a stand by and we needed them today after our sodden dog walk. I'd got 2 cans of Aldi chicken and tarragon; very bland and tasteless, so I wouldn't buy them again, but they did warm us through.
Put the heating on when we got home. We always find it cold in the house when we get back from the van.
I'm not a cake eater, but those looked very good, @Badly_Maintained. What a generous gesture.
                  Enjoy your glam evening @Busy-Lizzie

Funnily enough @Penny_Forthem I've just made a soup with the last of our choggia beetroot. It's pink rather than deep red but will taste fine after a day to mature. I've also got an orange and almond cake in the oven - gluten free, dairy free and sugar substitute used so OK for the diabetics too. Just the nut allergies to worry about but I've done my best.

Delia's chicken with tarragon tonight except I'm using a guinea fowl. Home grown shallots and tarragon so should be good. Home grown potatoes too.

Other than cooky things, I've been busy sorting fabrics and paperwork and so on for tomorrow's patch meeting - first proper workshop of the year and beginners and new people to get off on the right foot.

I've never seen a harvest festival advertised here and I pass several churches on my little trips here and there. I hope it went well @Liriodendron and that you enjoy your glam evening @Busy-Lizzie.

Sorry about your migraine @Badly_Maintained. Miserable illness.

It's turned sunny here at last but the ever changing forecast says we're in for a wet start tomorrow. I hope everyone has a lovely evening and gets the rain or sun they need.

The harvest festival was lovely, thanks - lots of people we didn't know, perhaps not surprising in a rural area. The church looked and smelled beautiful, lots of flowers and fragrant apples. And there was rather too much food afterwards... including beautiful home-made focaccia, Dutch apple cake etc. I might not want any tea...

I am finally back. Had to get a whole new one. Mine bit the dust after 10 years. Lucky for me husband had a brand new one in the basement, still in box and just had to have the Geek squad to move things over, that took about 3 days. getting used to it. Just got it home. Passwords etc. It is now Sunday 315PM here. focus on some pics etc to send you all. Later.
