    @Obelix-Vendée
I DO keep a record of all of my "bagged" castles, in the form of photos in my collection, together with a database of all of my vintage and modern postcards, and antique prints and engravings.
I could never recall all the pictures I have, in my head. Lists are my thing.
There are around 3000 castles and castle sites in Scotland, and around 2500 in England and Wales.
Not everything that is named a castle, IS a castle, and sometimes a building of another name IS a castle.
In some cases, there are no remains, so I photograph the site, or search for an old image. I have my own parameters.

We've just been to the pub for fish and chips. The fish van is in the pub car park on Fridays. The pub was packed but we were quite early so we got the last table for two. I didn't feel like cooking.

My mum adored tripe and onions.
        Not for me.
We usually ate nose to tail, but I drew the line at that.
Probably no lights tonight, due to cloud cover.
Grandog has gone home. He's lovely, but didn't like to share his bed. Er, pal, it's mine.
Sounds like a great night @Busy-Lizzie.
DiL's parents are coming to the van tomorrow for an informal tapas nibbles evening. Charcuterie, cheeses, olives etc.

Glad you had a good time @Busy-Lizzie and completely understand about the entry fee for St Paul's. Churches are supposed to be open to all aren't they? I'd happily contribute to their upkeep but resent a fixed fee. Poor psychology IMHO.

I took my Belgian scientists to visit Canterbury one year and we paid for a guided visit to the cathedral which was excellent. The guide refused a tip so it went in the collections box. However, the following year we were in London and decided the entry fee to Westminster was outrageous and didn't do it. Another year, we went to Bristol and came across a beautiful Anglican church with an Evensong service. Nobody there except the choir and us. Fabulous end to a good day and we left a good contribution. Earlier we'd visited HMS Great Britain and seen the replica of Cabot's tiny ship then gone to Brunel's bridge and the camera followed by Cabot tower in the park with very sociable grey squirrels so the scientists were in raptures and still had curry to come. Perfect.

I love tapas too @Penny_Forthem - proper foody but I draw the line at live critters, frog's legs and smelly unspeakable bits of offal.

Lots of castles round here too @RowlandsCastle. Proper ones, not chateaux, tho there are quite a few of those too.

No castles today, but went on the old royal yacht Britannia.

We also went to the Botanic Gardens, which were lovely, even at this time of year.

@Liriodendron, no doubt we will hear tomorrow how the concert has gone but I really hope your OH recovers soon and, as @Busy-Lizzie said, you managed to make it there.
@Busy-Lizzie, it must have been a lovely evening with lots of memories being recalled. I think that is an extortionate amount to pay to visit St. Paul's. I remember going years ago taking a party of school children. It was free to enter and we were allowed to go up to the whispering gallery. It was an amazing experience.

Last Sunday's Antique Roadshow was filmed in the Edinburgh Botanic Garden @RowlandsCastle and it looked beautiful.
I went to Canasta today having first done a load of washing which I hoped wouldn't get rained on whilst I was out - it didn't. The sun was shining beautifully but there was a decided nip in the air and when I brought in the washing I couldn't quite decide if it was still a bit damp or just cold. It will air off on the radiators. I am signing out for this evening. I'll catch up with your news tomorrow.

Good morning everybody. Enjoy Universal Music Day today - whatever genre you like listening too. Still pitch black outside but it was dry when I brought my milk in. I must check my 'to do' list - then promptly ignore it!

                      Good morning everyone!

Dismal and windy. We're in for a grey rainy weekend. Make me rest a bit but I am doing really well now. Bit sore and stiff on the start off otherwise, trotting around nicely!!

                          Morning all.

I slept very well back in our own bed. The duvet at the hotel was too hot, the air conditioning wouldn't go below 19C and the windows didn't open.

You are making great progress @Tui34.

I think we'll have a quiet day today.

Good Morning @Ladybird4 @Tui34 @Busy-Lizzie, and those to follow.

                            Delightful picture today @Tui34.
Very apt for an Autumn weekend.

Was hoping for one of those sunny and crisp Autumn mornings, but it’s just cloudy and dull so far. I’ll nip to the SM now and perhaps it will perk up later.

                            Have a lovely weekend all.

                              Good morning all!

Excellent news, @Tui34 ! Onwards and upwards...

Thank you, those who commented; we made it to the concert last night (though via the wrong church - I'd been busy packing for my Scotland trip, so hadn't checked the venue, and OH said he knew where it was...). He sang, too; more of a low bass last night than a baritone; and didn't cough until the Hallelujah Chorus, the final piece of the concert, where it didn't matter because it was sung by all 7 choirs & groups who'd been taking part. We sang "Lullabye" by Billy Joel as the final piece of our choir's part, which went down very well.

Having said there was no sign of the hedgehog, I found a couple of hog poos in the meadow just before it turned cold. I can't feed it, though, because I don't know when it's going to visit, and I'm not keen on feeding the feral cat (or the rat!).

It's a bit warmer this morning, though it dipped just below freezing at some point in the night. Dry at the moment, but cloudy - must nip out to take my library books back before my trip. Hope you all have a good Saturday!

                                Good morning all.

Great to her all is going well @Tui34. Nothing wrong with a restful day!

Sunny with cloudy spells here, says the forecast, so, of course, we've just had a heavy shower. Fortunately just as I was empying the washing machine and not hanging it up outside.

OH is finally feeling better and has gone off to play a shortened formula of golf today but has cancelled the real thing tomorrow and Tuesday. He is terrible at being ill but is now being sensible, at last.

We got the polytunnel cleared yesterday -very happy and helpful choosk - but OH needs to dig over each bed with the root slayer spade as the acacia/mimosa behind it has invaded with roots and suckers. Horrid things. It'll be even more aggressive now we've half the top removed. The one on our southern boundary has spread next door to the idiot neighbour's so we're going to have to find a final solution for the remains of the stumps on our side.

Pottering indoors and out for me then. Enjoy yourselves, whatever you're doing, even SM run @AuntyRach .
