Lovely photos of the beautiful old yacht. @RowlandsCastle

Thank you for your kind comments about my progress. So much better now, but the first two weeks were very painful.

I prepared and gently fried the ceps yesterday afternoon. There wasn't too much liquid and not a worm to be seen which was good, as sometimes they can be riddled. Left them to cool and froze them flat. Thank you for your kind suggestions.

Raining in Montpellier but the sun has emerged here - oops now it's gone. I see you are all trying to get autumn things done this weekend. The vine leaves have started to fall but with the wind, impossible to sweep up yet. I read on FB that the tip is going to close on the 22nd October and won't reopen until March so all the autumn cuttings will have to be taken to Beziers. A bit of a stupid time to close for works as there are so many people around here that are pruning and tidying up their garden for winter.

The concert sounds fun @Liriodendron - found memories of my time in Youth Choir. We did traditional pieces but also The Beatles, show tunes and some Welsh composers.

Pottering is just the ticket for an Autumn weekend @Obelix-Vendée.

You’ve done so well @Tui34 - probably because if your commitment to the physio and after care.

A successful SM run - topped up Dad with a few items too. He uses a delivery service but it’s not the same as walking round and finding offers or fancies so I tend to pick up a few things I think he’d like. I treated my self to a pumpkin spice candle and hand cream - and Dad said to have them for my Birthday present - so I’m even more chuffed now!

I’ve just done a fridge clean. So many old jars of pickles and sauces - they have all been emptied, rinsed and into the recycling. A bit messy but worth it. Room for all the seasonal chutney etc now.

The sun is glorious now - I hope you are all treated to some this weekend.

Busy, this pottering lark! 3rd load of washing outside to dry and another indoors on the rack cos the whrlygig is full of sheets and towels. I have cleaned the living room and moved houseplants around before feeding and watering them and then moved the dining table off the Persian rug to vacc it before storing it upstairs again. We want the floor for dance practice.

Possum helped move the table and rug. Says it's a nice rug she wants to inherit. Replied that I was going to make a list of all the things she says she wants to inherit so if I go before my time people would know she'd got impatient. Hilarious reaction from her as she protested.

Cuppa now and then more pottering.

Always good to have treats @AuntyRach. I tend to have stashes of Milka or Côte D'Or chocolate hidden from Possum but ready to dole out as needed. OH is simple. Vanilla ice cream.

I liked Béziers and have fond memories of those teeny pies from Pézenas @Tui34 and suspect they have strong familial links to the original British mince pies before they became just fruity and spicy.

Visited Carberry Tower this morning. It's a hotel, so they were not keen on having me take photos close up, for fear of upsetting the guests.
But one can get a reasonable picture from a distance.

Visited Preston Tower this afternoon - not to be confused with the Preston Tower in Northumberland, which I visited a few years ago.

              Good afternoon.
After a brightish morning and early afternoon, it has now become very dark and looks as if it will rain any time soon. We went out for lunch today and had some delicious home made pumpkin soup served with focaccia bread. It was very tasty indeed. We’re having salmon for dinner later, which I’ll be cooking.
Some interesting castles and towers @RowlandsCastle. A good few years ago now, we went to Edinburgh for a few days and visited the royal yacht. It was a very enjoyable visit.

We have been out for lunch too.
I had fennel, pea, lemon and feta risotto with pine nuts. AT £13.75, it was very good value and extremely tasty

                  Hello folks,

been a bit awol lately as we've had friends to stay. Fortunately although a bit chilly yesterday, we also had sunshine which was a bonus. As our friends haven't been too well this year, we didn't do much but took them to a GC on the edge of the Mendips for lunch and plant shopping. The Toasties were so large, we ended up taking two halves home, we would have shared if we'd have known. The GC had some good bargains at reasonable prices so the carboot was full.

They left this morning and we tore down to the GP's for both jabs. Feel okay at the moment but I'm rather tired from my hostessing efforts. I have done a towel was while we're generating leccy.

Your evening out sounded good @Busy-Lizzie but shame about St Paul's. We feel the same about the exorbitant fees some Cathedrals now charge, although I believe you are permitted in for free for private worship if you tell them. Is your OH an Old Hab by any chance?

Love the look of that salad @Penny_Forthem and as you say, jolly good value.

I'm also loving @RowlandsCastle's photos - very atmospheric.

Nice birthday presents @AuntyRach, very kind of you Dad. I'm sure he appreciates all that you do for him.

                  Have a good weekend all.

Just one to make you laugh - from a public toilet somewhere east of Edinburgh.

@lizzie27 yes, OH is an Old Hab. He won a scholarship to go there, left in 1960.

I've done nothing all day, watched TV, read, looked at computer, hardly been outside. Don't know why I feel so tired when I slept well. It's been cold and drizzly all day.

Its always nice to be in your own bed @Busy-Lizzie. It was good to read that you eventually made it to your concert @Liriodendron and well done to your OH for singing his part. Pleased that you OH has recovered @Obelix-Vendée. I'm not exactly sure what a root slayer spade is but it does sound as though it will do the job.
A nice early birthday surprise from your Dad @AuntyRach!
More fascinating tower pictures @RowlandsCastle but I do think that they could have used a more 'sympathetic' staircase. I find that blue one quite offensive to the eye. It would even have been better - if they had to had a metal stair - being black or rust coloured. But that's just me. I was amused by the Loo of the Year award! :)
@Penny_Forthem I think your risotto looks like art on a plate - almost too pretty to eat.

Good morning everyone. Definitely a celebratory day that I could go on celebrating! Yorkshire pudding with everything - yes please!
Gosh @Obelix-Vendée I'm willing to bet nobody would mess with anyone brandishing one of those tools! It still has to be pushed down into the soil though and that might be where I would fail with it. Hope that your arm is even better today @lizzie27
