@Goldenlily26 and @lizzie27, I got very cross when I went to pick up my prescription a couple of months back and was quite puzzled by the package being much bigger than usual. When I got home - I was in a rush - I discovered two packs of something called Atorvastatin - statins. No explanation about them just labels saying take one a day. I didn't and wrote to my surgery asking what was going on. I actually got a phone call - all bluff and bluster saying they thought I was going to try them. Not flipping likely. It sounds as though Rob is definitely feeling a bit better and I would have loved seeing him 'rounding' up the daft chicken. You will probably be more upset tomorrow having to leave your little furry friend at the Vet's but as @AuntyRach said he will be fine.

@Penny_Forthem you could do with a pair of waders. I am thinking about getting some for dealling with my garden and pond.

We are at the airport.

I slept badly. When I went to put my case in the car this morning I saw that the moon was very big so that explains it. I never sleep well when there's a full moon. Just bought a BLT to eat on the plane.

 

Good morning everyone, a much brighter start today weather wise. It was very warm and humid last eve, really odd. Need to finish the Lemon cage, it needed more repairs than I realised, last winters wet had caused more rot than I thought.

Yes, we had a stunning moon last night. I didn't need to put the light on when I went to bed it was so bright. Lovely to look at, a shame it wasn't like that for us all to enjoy the recent Northern Lights and solar displays.
Rob's chicken attack seems to have worked temporarily at least. The wretched bird used to parade along the top of the wall between my neighbours front entrance and mine, clucking loudly. It used to look down at Rob and cackle because he couldn't reach her. No sign of it this morning, or its friend. It was more than a little traumatised when I picked it up and posted it back on its own side of the wall. Unless it has died from shock. I didn't see any blood on it but Rob did a pretty good job of chasing it and getting hold of it by its wings and tail. Good game! Good game!

I spent some time removing Blight damage and cutting up the green tomatoes and some onions and garlic to put under salt for 12 hours in readiness for making chutney. The house smells very autumnal with the veg. being brined.

I went on line to check what the pharmacist told me about the statin injections. Mmmm! A modicum of truth. She said a "huge" world wide survey had been done and no one had side effects. Not quite. 3,500 people were trialled, which means 1,250 actually had the injections, the rest had placebos and some people had sore noses and /or sore throats. Some had redness, rash or swelling at the injection site. The injection has been designed to block a specific gene which causes too much LDL to be produced which is different to how the traditional statins work. As the trial was started only 3 years ago there are no definite results as to what the long term effects might be. I suppose as I am already 83 I should not worry about that small problem. She told me the tablets I am trying as the alternative will not work for more than a month or two, so why do they put people on them for a lifetime? What a waste of NHS money!
They must get very frustrated with difficult old wrinklies like me who ask too many questions, argue and do not just do as they are told. We have the temerity to question and be argumentative and un-coperative. Tut tut.
