Poor Charlie. Hope he gets over it soon @AuntyRach. I am signing out for this rainy day. See you all in the morning. Enjoy your evenings and safe journey tomorrow @RowlandsCastle.

Good morning everyone and yes, its still raining! I trust everyone slept well last night. I would have done if Cricket hadn't decided it would be a great idea to wrestle with my head at 04:00. I did get back off to sleep again after that though. Nearly finished my baby jumper - its taking longer than usual as my arthritic right thumb makes fine detailing difficult but all I need now is to stitch on 3 buttons and then it will be complete. I had taken it to Bestie's on Thursday to continue the stitching and she wanted a copy of the pattern. We do knitting to send to the Ukraine as she has a neighbour who organises regular trips there with clothing, toiletries and blankets.

        Good morning everyone!!

Looks like we could have some sun today. We've had a week of really dismal weather. A violent storm on Thursday evening, thunder and lightning and a torrential downpour which lasted about 10 minutes and flooded some areas.

I hope everyone has an enjoyable day today.

            Good morning,
After a few pleasant days, we have heavy rain battering the windows this morning. It was forecast, so I’m not surprised to see it. I’m glad I finished washing the bedding yesterday, it dried well outdoors.
It sounds as if you have had a wonderful trip visiting all those castles @RowlandsCastle, and you have a nice leisurely return journey planned. I hope the rain doesn’t spoil your last few days away.
Oh dear @Ladybird, it sounds as if Cricket wanted to play - at least you managed to get back to sleep. You’ll have to post a picture of the completed baby cardigan, it sounds lovely.
Well, as it looks set to be a dismal day here, I think it will be indoor jobs and then settle with my book later.
Hope you all have a good day.

              Morning,
Yes it is a relief to have Rob home, a bit like leaving a child in the hands of experts for surgery etc. You cannot explain to animals what is going on.
I have no idea how long the results of the blood test will take, 3/4 days probably with the week end in the middle. The vet is going to phone me when she gets them. His eye seems a little better today but his tummy is still bloated which must be uncomfortable. Another appointment in a weeks time to check the progress of his eye..
My surgery process is obviously different, the Dr told me I could have 6 treatments free as a NHS patient, then I think I have to go private if I need any further sessions. I already have to pay to go to a chiropodist every month or so, it is getting expensive to keep myself comfortable.I had my hair cut yesterday, that has gone up a huge amount recently. I look like an old witch with long hair so have it cut every 5/6 weeks to keep it under control.
I am off this morning to have my "free" Flu and Covid vaccinations.
I will spend the rest of the day cooking down the green tomato chutney and wait for the storm to hit.

Sunny out here near the coast this morning. I’m sulking a bit, as I’d planned to visit grandsons for the weekend, but everyone is down with horrid colds. Will be able to reschedule later on, but still.
More torrential rain last night, so this mornings walk will be a bit soggy. We will have sons dog for the next week, should mean extra walks, but she is very old so we’ll be walking more slowly than usual, with more stops to sniff random sticks and leaves. Thankfully, less barking and reacting to other dogs these days.
More leaves down, and the lawn looks like we haven’t touched it! I must read up about overwintering salvias, but there isn’t much in the garden that isn’t hardy and perennial.
Lovely holiday photos from @RowlandsCastle and @Busy-Lizzie. I’m already hankering for another holiday. I need to do a big autumn clean round the house, and identify what diy needs doing urgently, but I really can’t be bothered. All looks too intimidating. Also needs OH to go up in the loft, but he’s definitely not as agile as he was. Oh well, I shall indulge myself in a walk round our woodland, and see if there are any interesting fungi. I keep checking the area where I found some earthstars a few years ago, but I haven’t seen any since then.
Glad Rob is on the mend, animals can be such a worry.

@Ergates, a coincidence you mentioning about lofts and access as this is one of the topics my Bestie and I were discussing on Thursday. A couple of years ago I more or less emptied my loft just leaving things like my larger luggage withing an arms reach of the loft hatch. Both of us - and even my Bestie's daughter - find actually getting up inside the loft a nightmare idea.
@Goldenlily26, I hope Rob gets an easing in his tummy. He will start dreading the Vet visits. This is the baby jumper I've finished this morning.

Good morning from a sunny North Wales. A mere lull, I believe. The dogs will be grateful for a really good run in the hills this afternoon.
                      What a gorgeous jumper @Ladybird4
I am now 1lb away from the target I set for myself in mid June. However, I'd optimistically set the date for hitting it at mid August, so only 2 months late! We are going away with hub's sis and BiL for my birthday at the end of this month, so I am glad I'm a bit thinner!
Safe journey back @RowlandsCastle - the borders and North Yorkshire should look beautiful
                      Fingers crossed for Rob @Goldenlily26

                        Hello all.

I hope you don't mind me sending more photos.

We are being so lucky with the sunny weather.

We are now in Bratislava, a beautiful city, capital of Slovakia, only 5000000 people live in Slovakia, half of them in Bratislava. The communists built ugly grey buildings which are being changed to beautiful ones like the originals.

Our guide today was very funny.
Both guides yesterday and today grew up with Russian Communism and hated it. Hungary and Slovakia are now in the EU and Schengen. They love it and feel free and both countries are now much more prosperous.

Love the "man at work" @Busy-Lizzie .
Having had health and safety ingrained into me at work over many years, my first thought was "trip hazard", but then I thought he might be one of those clever 3 dimensional pavement artworks .

I thought the Danube would be blue with clear water but it's murky brown. The guide told us that it had tipped with rain in September, there was flooding and some of the cruises were cancelled.
