    Morning all.

I think you did the right thing @Badly_Maintained.

The scenery was stunning as we sailed up this Austrian Valley. We visited Melk Monastery, now a private school but still owned by Benedictine monks.

The photos are just stunning @Busy-Lizzie I think I can speak for everyone and say that we are really enjoying the beautiful scenery as you cruise up the Danube. The weather looks perfect and the autumn colours are dramatic!!

I hope you are feeling better @AuntyRach I had a bit of a sore throat over the weekend, so gargled with salt water and thyme to disinfect anything lurking - seems better this morning.

Good idea @Ladybird4 to tidy up the virtual desktop, but like all tidying up - we may need "that" later!! Don't bumble-bees live in the ground @Badly_Maintained ? Your little mate may be able to grow another wing after a period of convalescence!!

It's cloudy here but the weather this week is forecast to be a golden autumn. I would like to make a "light" start on the weeding - I have a kneeler so I could limit myself to the 30 minute spells as I used to do before the hip operation. The ground is moist so no hard pulling. I'll deal with the tomato etc. plants at a later date.

I hope everyone has an enjoyable day.

A large stockpot of chutney is now made ready to be put into jars.

I had a call from the vet last night with Rob's test results. Bless him. He is suffering from Cushings Disease. At last we know what the problem is. It is caused by a benign tumour on either the pituitary gland or the adrenal glands, is non life threatening and there are 2 options for treatment.
1.Surgical removal of the tumour. Not many vets do the op. and there are possible side effects.
                2. Tablets with regular blood tests to monitor the hormone levels in his blood. Possible side effects.
It depends on where the tumour is, from his symptoms it seems very likely to be on the pituitary gland.
As Rob is 13 1/2 years old I feel it is not appropriate to put him through major brain surgery so have opted to try the tablets first, which the vet agrees with. She said if he was her dog that would be the path she would go down. The company they deal with for supplying the tables are prepared to give them to me for the first month free so I must find out why and if they are on trial. Seems too good to be true. Unless they are massively expensive. It may be just to see how he does on them as the tablets will be for the rest of his life. Hopefully his fur will grow back, his tummy will go down and feel more comfortable. I also hope his appetite reduces and he stops scavenging when out on his walks.
I had a longer wait than usual when I went for my jabs. They were down by one Dr. but it was all very efficient. Now I have 2 painful upper arms. I do not remember having this problem before, I suppose it depends on what they are giving as it changes each year depending on what type of bugs are prevalent.
Everything is battened down ready for the incoming storm. It is eerily quiet and still at the moment. Quite unsettling. My daughter and son in law are going to Falmouth this evening to start a weeks Day Skipper course on a small sailing dingy. Thank goodness the storm will have blown through before they go onto open water.
Today is going to be a clearing up day, the kitchen looks as if a bomb has hit it.

I've noticed @Goldenlily26 , that it also depends on the person giving the jab. I think technique is important.

Best wishes to you and Rob, hope he soon feels the benefit of his treatment:fingers crossed:

@Goldenlily26 , we had our flu and Covid jabs a fortnight ago and we had terribly sore arms for about three days. Couldn’t lift arms to shoulder height. The Covid arm was the worse - we also experienced really fatigue/lethargy the next day too. Couldn’t do anything. Definitely worse this time round to other times. Hope your arms recover quickly.

                        Good morning everyone.

That's a lot of "Days" @Ladybird4 and would leave time for nothing else so i'll just carry on as normal. I'm making an egg, flour and dairy free coconut lemon cake for patchwork club this pm, not that anyone is actually doing any patchwork at the mo. It's all embroidery, crochet and knitting!

More lovely photos @Busy-Lizzie. Classic architecture and scenery in clean air. Fab.

Take it easy as you go @Tui34 then you'll get satisfaction without overdoing it and generating more pain.

I had my flu jab last Thursday - at the pharmacy and she was very good. No pain afterwards which is a first for me. Waiting for the local nurses' surgery to give us a date for Covid boosters.

Hugs for you and Rob @Goldenlily26; @Badly_Maintained too and anyone else having a rough patch.

Morning all, it's very quiet out there this morning with hardly any wind and hopefully some sunshine to come. It's very overcast but we appear to be generating electricity from the solar panels so I might put a wash on if I can manage it - still suffering vertigo although I felt better yesterday evening.

@Ladybird4 , where on earth do you find all these peculiar 'National Days'? Are they all American.

Poor Rob, but a relief to have a diagnosis at last I suppose. Hope the tablets work for him. @Goldenlily26.

We had achy arms overnight from our two jabs but otherwise felt fine and I didn't get the hard swelling I usually get which was a bonus.

@Busy-Lizzie, that monastery looks beautiful but enormous, I wonder how many monks they had in the beginning.

Umm, your coconut and lemon cake sounds moreish @Obelix-Vendée , I could quite fancy a slice right now but know it's forbidden fruit as it were.

                          Have a good Monday folks.

Morning everyone. Tesco due in a bit, so it's clearing out the fridge moment (Hub is in charge of the veg drawer!).
They have 25% off 6 bottles of wine at the moment, so I have some reds, whites and bubbly arriving, which will be put away for Christmas. We rarely drink it, but we will have company!
Annoyingly, my cursor keeps jumping lines and if I don't notice (I'm not a touch typer), my sentence is even more garbled!
The greenhouse survived Ashley, but we heard an enormous crash last night. Couldn't see anything and it was too wild to go out to look, but all seems normal this morning.
At least you have a diagnosis for Ron @Goldenlily26. Don't you just love 'em to bits.
More fab photos this morning, thank you @Busy-Lizzie
Glad the vertigo is improving a bit @lizzie27
Still no sign of a covid jab here...

                              Good day all.

My headache was back this morning so I’m having another PJ day. I hope anyone else feeling under par or with worries improves. Sore arms after the jab/s seem quite prevalent this time (just anecdotal from on here and my family/colleagues).

Fabulous Austria pics @Busy-Lizzie. I have had two lovely holidays there - both Tyrol area. Memories of woodland walks, beautiful scenery of lakes and mountains, the sound of cowbells, gorgeous food and drink…

I hope the medications and care for Rob is straightforward @Goldenlily26.

                              Have a decent day all.

We went on the walking tour around Linz instead, which is where the ship is moored.

It was interesting. Hitler and his horrid friend Goering had lived in Linz. Goering had a big business there. It is an industrial town so it was very bombed in the war. Luckily the beautiful old part wasn't bombed as that wasn't the industrial bit.

OH has gone for lunch. I'm not having lunch. He wants to go up a funicular railway this afternoon but I don't think I'm up to it.
