    Thank you everyone for sympathy.
I'm not the only one with D&V on this ship.
I've spent most of the day in bed. The sickness has gone but not quite the other. Now have a bad headache.

OH went on this mornings guided tours around Vienna, but he knows it well. He lived there for 2 months in his 30s doing a German course.

It's the Captain's cocktail evening and dinner followed by a classical Viennese music concert. I went to the cocktail, didn't drink. Cedric has gone to dinner. I may go to the concert but I feel weak and tired despite sleeping most of the afternoon.

So sorry you still feel wiped out @Busy-Lizzie. Are you able to drink water at all? I know you couldn't the other day. I sometimes get a bad headache if I am dehydrated. Rest will be good for you.
@Penny_Forthem, you are so talented. That is a gorgeous doggy portrait. :star:

No dancing this evening as it's school hols (2 weeks) so I get to watch Digging for Britain live and then the Bake Off - recorded so we can whizz thru ads.

I think the koalas we saw in the zoo park were hand raised from birth @Ladybird4.

I'm glad we had the chance to visit Oz @Penny_Forthem but don't want to go back and certainly couldn't live there. No history, no connection. We were living in Belgium then in a farmhouse whose origins went back to before 1770 and which saw Blucher and his army march past on the way to meet Wellingon's army and defeat Napoleon near Waterloo. The road pavers bore the marks of the Allied tanks chasing the Germans home in 1944.

The village up the road was almost emptied when the "Irish" potato famine hit Belgium and people died or emigrated to the new world. All sorts of local historical sights and events that make one feel grounded and connected. Similarly here with prehistoric sites, medeieval castles - one of Richard Lionheart's favourites is just up the road - later chateaux, land husbandry and the ordinary people whose families go back generations and whose folk memory still resents Napoleon and his deeds in crushing the Vendée.

So sorry your special holiday has been spoiled by sickness @Busy-Lizzie. I hope you'll be fully recovered soon and maybe some compensation since you are not alone in succumbing?

            Lovely swooshing @Penny_Forthem

              Good evening all.

I’ve had another PJ day but bit better.

I have kept an eye on chats today but too tired to post much. Better than ‘actual’ news this forum so it’s a pleasure to read. Just to say hope all those who are poorly or are looking after poorlies (human or animal) are doing ok. Drink water as much as you can @Busy-Lizzie and hopefully you’ll feel brighter tomorrow.

              Sleep well all.

Picking up some friends this morning then we are off to set up the Church Hall for the quiz night and hotpot evening we are running on Friday. This will mean some serious furniture shifting. Better eat my spinach!
@AuntyRach, I'm sorry you are feeling so lethargic. I hope that the pj days are working their magic.
Fascinating history @Obelix-Vendée. I have some history around my village too. Just up the road from me, Captain Myles Standish of the Mayflower was born. His home was Duxbury Hall which would have been interesting to @RowlandsCastle. Sadly it was demolished in the 50's but there is quite a lot of information online about it.

I managed to get a load of washing dried outside and to give Rob's face a decent wash using dog shampoo. I am still convinced he has gone blind in the affected eye.
Took him for a walk then went into town to stock up with dog and cat food at B&M's. A very pleasant young member of staff, a nice tall chap, helped me get the last box of dog food from the back of the top shelf where I couldn't reach, then went into the store room to find a second box of cat food for me. It really brightens ones day when someone is pleasant and helpful.
I am hoping to get out in the garden today, it is a lovely morning at the minute.
I am also going to have another go at using my bread maker. At first I thought the machine had died, then that I had used the wrong program. Eventually I questioned the tin of dried yeast, it was an old tin I found at the back of the cupboard so decided to use it up before opening the new tin.. I made up some in a jug with sugar and warm water and zilch. Absolutely nothing happened. I opened a new tin and repeated the test. Voila! Lots of foam, now I have to try making another loaf. I need a working machine as my son in law and I are going to compete against each other making a Stollen for Christmas, just a friendly with family and friends judging which is best. He is very experienced at bread making, he makes all of their bread, I cannot knead properly anymore due to arthritis in my hands and wrists. My daughter said she might have a go as well. Not that we are a competitive family. Much! The winner got a chocolate medal for winning last year so there is a lot at stake. I do not even like Stollen very much.

                          Morning all.

                          Happy Birthday to @Topbird. :birthday:

I'm feeling a lot better, slept very well despite sleeping a lot yesterday.

They gave me a non alcoholic cocktail last night with ginger and mint which seemed to help. I think the headache was because of dehydration. I was able to go to the classical music quartet concert.

This afternoon the visit is a coach trip around Budapest. Hoping to manage that.

                            Happy Birthday @Topbird

Belated Happy ‘big’ Birthday for @RowlandsCastle too.

Glad you feeling better @Busy-Lizzie. Hope you can enjoy the rest of holiday.

I’ve never made stollen @Goldenlily26 - I quite like it, despite not really liking marzipan. I hope little Rob appreciates your vet nurse care and that he is doing ok.

Hotpot and quiz night sounds good @Ladybird4 - are you making the hotpot too?

Take care everyone and have a good day.

I've just been in the garden to see what's grown (or died) while we were away.
To my astonishment, the jasmine, glossy abelia and salvia are all still producing flowers.
The grass is LONG and there are loads of leaves to clear - another day!!
The leaves of the peach tree are a lovely colour, and photos don't do them justice.

Just popping in to let you know that Jim McColl, formerly the presenter of the wonderful long-running TV series 'Beechgrove Garden' has died, aged 88. I know the gardeners amongst us know how sorely he'll be missed and how grateful we were to have him with us for so long.
