That is such sad news @Tinkerton
He was brilliant- like a Garden Grandad to many of us.

I only "knew" him for a few short years after discovreing Beechgrove rather late when we finally got satellite TV in Belgium but he was lovely - knowledgeable, open to new ideas, a good communicator with a senseof humour and not too proud to admit mistakes and failures and learn from them.

The Parliament Building is very impressive, that photo was taken from the ship.

The iron suspension bridge was designed and built by the 2 English men who built the bridge in Marlowe, Bucks.

We leave to catch our flight home very early tomorrow.

          Good afternoon,

It’s been a lovely day here, quite mild and sunny this morning but clouded up this afternoon. We went for a little run out today to a farm shop and I bought a couple of partridge which had been reduced so they’ve gone in the freezer for now. I’ll have to look up a nice recipe. Not cooked partridge before, but as they’re very small, imagine it won’t take long for them to cook.

Sorry that you’ve missed some of the places on your cruise @Busy-Lizzie due to your tummy upset. I hope you’ll be able to get a little bit of compensation as it seems several of you have been affected. However, glad you were able to get to Budapest today - your photos are lovely.

Belated birthday greetings to you @RowlandsCastle. I’m sure your super castle holiday will remind you of your special birthday.

Happy birthday to you, too, @Topbird :birthday: .

Good evening all. Well the Church all is all set up for Friday night now. I won't be making the hotpot @AuntyRach. I love cooking for lots of people but my miniscule kitchen could not cope with cooking hotpot for 60 - as well as the vegetarian option. Happy to let the professionals do that.
@Goldenlily26, you are right, helpful shop staff are a delight. I am vertically challenged and often have to find a tall person to come to my rescue when I need things beyond my reach. The willingness they all show to help restores my faith in humanity and gives me a warm feeling for the rest of my 'shop'.
Good to read you are feeling better @Busy-Lizzie and can go on to enjoy your cruise. Thank you for sharing more of your wonderful pictures with us. I have serious nice weather envy!
Thank you for the information about Jim McColl @Tinkerton. I am another one like @Obelix-Vendée who came to Beechgrove quite late but it is a delightful programme - like a breath of fresh air - to watch.

@RowlandsCastle, I bet your garden is looking lovely now with all those russet Autumn colours. You almost feel you could hold your hands up to that leaf and it would be warming!

I am going to sign out now. @Busy-Lizzie, I was a bit slow there. Of course you started out from Budapest didn't you? Have a safe journey home tomorrow. You will be happy to get your log burner on when you finally reach home. Are you breaking your return with friends/rellies? Catch you all tomorrow.

Good morning everyone. Well the SM trip I intended doing on Tuesday and for some unknown reason got pushed down the 'to do' list must be done today - and a few more things have been added to the shopping list! @Busy-Lizzie I hope the return home is uneventful and that there is no 'lost luggage' this trip.

Yeah! I have a loaf of bread. Problem solved. It was very difficult not to make a start on it whilst still hot. Mmmm! Warm bread and butter.
I managed to get an hours weeding done in the afternoon. The grass is soooooo long. Thick with weeds. But because it is so wet, everything is easy to pull up.
You poor thing Lizzie, I hope you are feeling better. I am still suffering post Flu/ Covid jab side effects. Aching, tired, drippy nose, sore arms etc. have never had side effects like this before.
I tried to book a car through the Hospital Car Service for an appointment for an ultra scan on my shoulder. It is on the 1st Nov. but they couldn't give me a car for a month. Last time I tried to book a car I was refuse because they couldn't take booking for less than 2 weeks. I suppose they have lost a lot of their volunteer drivers with the cost of living increases etc.

I’m struggling to keep up with the thread at the moment. We are dog sitting for elderly granddog this week, so out for more walks than usual. I’m sorry I forgot to wish happy birthday to @RowlandsCastle , @Topbird and @Penny_Forthem. I’ve been really enjoying all the castle photos! I really must organise a trip north of the border (although I struggle to venture out of Devon, I do love it here, and hate car journeys these days)
I’ve also been loving the pictures from @Busy-Lizzie’s river cruise. I’ve always fancied doing one, but OH would hate the shared tables for meals, and is a picky eater as well.
The garden is very damp and soggy, and my only trips out there at present are to escort the dog and poo pick up duties. Lots of varied fungi around, but no pictures. I only have my iPad for taking photos, and it’s too bulky to have with me. Annoying, when I see interesting stuff and would like a record.
We’ve slept in this morning, and I haven’t even drawn the curtains yet, so I’ve no idea what the weather is like! Shocking! We did sit up last night until after midnight. Very unlike us, and I’m sure directly related to having a late lunch out yesterday, with a coffee each. Just not used to the caffeine.

                            Hello everyone,

and Bon jour @Tui34 and Ladybird4 - always the early risers!

We had to be up and dressed reasonably early as the cleaners arrive at 10. Bit of a scramble this morning. Watched the programme on Trump last night then promptly had weird dreams about him - not what you want! Horrible man. Can't stand the thought of him being President again.

We've got weird blue fungi in the front garden @Ergates, I'll post a pic later. I've forgotten the name of it, looked it up last year when I found one on the gravel close to where the current crop are.

@Goldenlily26 , sorry to hear you're still suffering from post jab woes. Our hospital have volunteers to transport patients to and from - is it worth finding out if yours do the same? I'm guessing your nearest one would be Truro.

Hope @Busy-Lizzie had a good flight and journey home today.

Not sure what I'll do today, feel better but still a trifle wobbly on my feet if I forget and walk too fast. There's always the ironing I suppose!

                            Have a good day everyone.

                              Good morning,

a dull start weatherwise, but it’s trying to brighten up now. Our Pilates teacher lives further west from most of us and said the sun was already shining there when we started the class, so it must be working eastwards.

Sorry to read that some of you are still suffering a few wobbles health wise and hope you soon feel better.

Oh dear @lizzie27, Trump is the last person you’d want to be dreaming about.:yikes:.

Well, I’ll finish my coffee and then I’d better get on.

                              Take care everyone.

Good morning. It's a glorious day.
We are off to the van, just for 2 nights, and grand dog is coming too. He goes home tomorrow.
                                Smooth journey home, @Busy-Lizzie.
Mmm, olives! Do you have your own trees @Tui34?
The autumn colours seem very vibrant this year. Nicely captured @RowlandsCastle
