Poor you @Busy-Lizzie , that all sounds rather ghastly for you - particularly after your cruise ailments. I hope you’re feeling better soon- painkillers, liquids and plenty of rest time. Look after yourself. Hope your cough subsides soon too @Ladybird4.
MY OH was sick last night and again this morning. Must be something in the air…:yikes::sick0026:

Oh no @Busy-Lizzie - you do some rough. Try some hot squash or honey and lemon tea. I hope you feel better soon.

Early night for me as back to work tomorrow. I’ve bought a new lavender pillow spray to help me nod off.

@Busy-Lizzie,oh dear, you do sound really rough.

I read last week that new research advocates sniffing a saline solution up your nose, using a teaspoon, shortens your symptoms by up 2 days. I haven't tried it yet (!) although I do do a warm salt water gargle several times a day if I have a sore throat and that seems to work well.

Do hope you feel better soon.

From frying pan to fire by the sound of it @Busy-Lizzie. I hope it passes soon and that you have meds to dull the pain and clear the breathing.

Mea Culpa @Penny_Forthem I assumed you'd gone away to celebrate tonight but clearly you want a birthday breakfast, lunch and dinner! Enjoy it all.

The secretary situation is difficult @lizzie27 and @Ladybird4. She's a glass way less than half full kind of person - very kind, generous, thoughtful but then gets into a spiral of how difficult everything is, how ill she feels plus worries about her husband who isn't too clever either about managing health as he ages. I hope she'll resign as that will remove one pressure from her mind but I won't push and I hope she stays in the club as it's a good supportive group.

A very good morning to you all. Oh dear @Busy-Lizzie, I feel so very sorry that you and your OH are suffering the latest bug that seems to be doing the rounds. Fingers crossed you both rally soon and shake it off.
I hope that Rob's eye op went well yesterday @Goldenlily26 and that he recovers quickly. @Obelix-Vendée I can understand the need to tread carefully - and sympathetically - around this unfortunate lady. Perhaps someone can just gently and unobtrusively take over the Secretarial duties until this lady recovers.

                  Good morning everyone!!

The sun didn't stop for long yesterday and we had intermittent spits, showers and sun. On the whole, it was grey. Then about 7 o'clock last night, a heavy downpour which continued throughout the night. We did need it - it certainly is good for the land. Grey at the moment and looks as if we may have this autumnal weather. The temperature is 20°C during the day so the heating hasn't kicked in yet and about 16°C/17°C at night.

Thank you @Busy-Lizzie I have your cold - just a head cold though. Bit of a nuisance.
I think you have aired your views before on this person @Obelix-Vendée I hope things get sorted out. The chemist sells sea water @lizzie27 here for people suffering from the proverbial head cold. For inhaling through the nose. It disinfects the passages. Nothing that a saline solution wouldn't fix. I have a nearly full bottle of saline solution left over from the nurses visits when they changed the dressing for my hip.

Hope to hear from @Goldenlily26 today with news.

I meant to say earlier @Songbird that I was sorry to hear that your OH is not too well at the moment either. I guess its that time of year when the bugs start getting passed around. Hope you manage to stay clear.

                      Morning all.

Thank you everyone for your sympathy. I spent another night in the spare room. This time it was me doing the coughing and I didn't want to disturb OH.

I hope your OH is better soon @Songbird.

                      Happy birthday @Penny_Forthem :birthday:

Oh my, yesterday was a bit stressful one way and another. I dropped Rob off at the vet and then didn't do anything I had planned!
I was going to come home and do lots of sensible jobs, instead I went to the last local GC to see if they had any chimonanthus or corylopsis in stock, no such luck. Without seeing the menu in the coffee shop I ordered a Full English Breakfast to see me through the rest of the day. Big mistake! When it arrived there was 2 of everything, far too much for me to eat, so wasteful. The coffee shop is under new managership with a new menu which has 3 levels of breakfast on it, I would have ordered the smallest had I known. I bought some scented? tulips to go near my front door then came and home went to sleep.
I had a phone call at 3.30pm to go and collect Rob, poor old chap, he doesn't know which day of the week it is, he is tanked up on painkillers etc. with a bucket on his head. Everything went well but this morning his eye is like a golf ball, inflamed and bruised. I have another 3 lots of medication to give him when I can persuade him to eat. No walks for at least 2 weeks to keep his blood pressure down, the eye is the only op. when they ask for this, he is learning to walk around without banging the bucket on things. No chasing chickens for a while.
It is going to be a quiet day for both of us as Rob had me up 4 times during the night asking to go outside so we are both rather tired.

Good morning, happy birthday to @Penny_Forthem .
Well after such a lovely day weather-wise on Sunday, yesterday was very wet and miserable so much so I even went to the shops with my OH. :yikes:
One of her big moans is that whereas she used to be able to go to one shop once a week, now we find we have to go to different places, in rotation, because we find many shops have droped certain lines, which we like and used to buy. - Probably should put this on the moan thread, but there it is.
                            Have a good day all.

I'm sending good wishes to Rob & @Goldenlily26 following his surgery.

@Blue arbour I hope your sore throat clear s up soon.

Positive thoughts also to @AuntyRach reagrding her health problems.

Additional good thoughts to your OH @Songbird .

(Apologies to anyone feeling poorly I may have missed)

Forecast was for overcast weather all week, but today is very sunny, very mild and very humid, with very light winds. I'm guessing my flowers will love this turn of events. :)

Best wishes to all as always.

I hope that your stress has now eased @Goldenlily26 and that your little dog will soon adjust to his new way of life. I also hope Rob is managing to eat OK with his 'bucket'.
Thank you @Badly_Maintained and @Songbird for your kind thoughts. I am very jealous of all your fine weather - it rained all morning here. I have been waiting for a text from Argos today advising me of a narrower delivery time tomorrow. I was originally given between 07:00 and 18:00. Anyway, I'm developing cobwebs here waiting for said text. There may still be time, I just can't get used to it going dark at this time - still feels so much later than it actually is.
