I am signing out for tonight. Sending 'get well' wishes to all the poorly members (and their fluffy friends!) and further happy birthday wishes to @Penny_Forthem. See you all tomorrow. Enjoy your evenings.

Evening, fairly busy day here, had a friend call round for a coffee after she had collected a lady to drive her to our hospital for tests, our friend is a volunteer driver for patients who live up to 30 miles away.
Then after lunch it was my turn so OH dropped me off at the hospital for a CT lung scan. (if you're needle phobic, look away now!) Didn't start too well when the nurse accidentally hit a nerve with the needle in my wrist - ouch and double ouch, that was so very painful. After that, the actual scan wasn't too bad, the machine is doughnut shaped so your head and feet are outside. Just as well as I'm claustophobic. Hopefully the results will be ok.
After a restorative cuppa and flapjack in the hospital cafe, I walked home which was very pleasant.

Glad to hear Rob is back home, @Goldenlily26 perhaps you can relax a bit now .

I’m home after my 12 hour shift - just had a shower and pastrami bagel so will check all my messages and read on here then watch Bake Off on catch-up. Is it ‘Autumn week’?

I hope everyone is doing ok and all colds are subsiding. Special ‘good boy’ pat to @Goldenlily26 ’s little dog.

Been a busy day but I don't feel I've achieved much - I started off dead-heading some roses and ended up doing some fairly major pruning and taking another batch of cuttings. Then I hoed and raked over the bed I've selected for some strawberry plants I've been given and then the chooks moved in. Fair bit of patch club admin in between all that.

About to sit and watch the Bake Off once it's been on enough for us to whizz past the ads.

@Allotment Boy my SM of choice had a suggestions box this summer so I told them about all the products they no longer stock or don't stock and that I have to go and find in the same chain but different stores or at competitors. I can now buy Heinz beans, liquorice and mint tisane and a few other things there without having to do the rounds.

@Goldenlily26 I hope Rob is doing well. Last time Rasta was operated on she was given an inflatable collar which stopped her banging her head on things especially when cornering and served as a cushion for sleeping. Ingenious.

Good morning one and all. Love the picture of Rasta with her own personal air bed. I think the long suffering look on her face says it all.

Well I finally got my text from Argos - at 20:18 last night! Freezer being delivered between 08:30 and 10:30 this morning. The driver will ring an hour before to narrow down the time slot even further.

              Good morning ladies & gentlemen.

I hope the CT scan results bring you very good news @lizzie27 .

Sounds to me like you achieved a lot yesterday @Obelix-Vendée .

              Hope Rob's recovery goes well @Goldenlily26 .

Another calm, mild, humid day. Overcast so far, but sunny spells are forecast for later. Hung the washing out early and hoping for a little drying despite the humidity and lack of wind. Going to feed & water my flower pots soon. Two supermarket deliveries coming this evening, and another one tomorrow (I tend to buy non-perishable items in bulk).

Have a safe day out there folks.

OMG! Is there anything else the universe would like to throw at me!
Rob's eye is like a golf ball it is so swollen and he is very sleepy with all of the medication he is on. I left him to sleep and rest but last night let him out for a final pee before going to bed. It was around midnight, I thought he seemed to be taking a long time so went out to check on him. I heard him bark and found him in the pond, where he often has a drink! He was cold, very wet and upset, not surprising. It took me over an hour to dry him off and warm him up.On my lap, both of us wrapped in a fleece throw.
Eventually I put him in his bed and bedded myself down on the sofa to keep an eye on him. Lights out and quiet. Then I heard his bucket banging so got up to see what he was doing. He was half way upstairs "going to bed" so I helped him the rest of the way before going back to turn off lights etc. I missed the last step and fell flat on my back. I am fine, a bit stiff, another quiet day for both of us.

                    Morning all.

Oh dear @Goldenlily26! I hope today will be less traumatic.

I took some Night Nurse last night, which a friend recommended. I slept well, but now I'm back to coughing again. At least it isn't chesty like OH's, but the throat itch is very irritating.

I hope we are better tomorrow as we have been invited to lunch in Suffolk by a friend from France who moved back to England a few years ago.

Oh no @Goldenlily26 you are both having a rough time. A quiet indoor day sounds good - rest and treats for you and Rob.

Have a good day everyone, hope all poorly people feel better soon and everyone can do some Autumn self-care - comfort food, cosy-up with a book or have some fresh air and enjoy the autumn leaves.

Hello everyone. I hope all is well and those with lurgies are feeling better and that you and Rob finally got a good, restorative sleep @Goldenlily26.

I've been to physio this morning and then a short trip to the SM on the way home. Possum has announced she wants to go carb free for a couple of weeks as she's plateau'd in her bid to lose all the Lockdown kilos. We always have wholemeal pasta something on Tuesdays and Thursdays because it's quick and easy before dance class on Tuesday and after yoga on Thursday. I've bought a spaghetti squash!

Making Parkin this pm so it's got time to go all unnecessary for Monday's patchwork group and once that's done I'll be putting down soil conditioner then a weed membrane ready for the strawberries.

We have lovely sunshine forecast for most of the next week tho it's chilly and bit misty to start each day. Glorious now tho.

i hope everyone gets some dry and sunny weather to help with all those autumn jobs and general fun.

                          Good afternoon,

It’s a very overcast day here today, but not cold. I managed to get some washing dried yesterday outside as the sun got out. I don’t think it would dry today, too damp in the air.

We went for a run out to a nearby GC this morning as I needed more garden fleece ready for covering the pots and some shrubs. Of course, it also necessitated some refreshment so had a nice cup of tea and a tea cake. I’m meant to watch my saturated fat intake, but did succumb to putting butter on the teacake (only a small amount), as it tastes so much nicer than spread. In any case, they didn’t have any spread .

Oh dear @Goldenlily26, poor you and poor Rob. I hope you both have a much more uneventful day today.

My sore throat is no longer sore, but I’ve got an annoying tickle, so I’m sipping a lemsip now which is soothing. I’m pleased to say, I wasn’t coughing and spluttering whilst out - I would have stayed home if I had been as I don’t want to spread germs about.

I think a lazy afternoon beckons now.

                          Take care everyone.

Afternoon everybody, overcast and dismal here but still warmish. OH left early this morning to fetch a spare part for the old car which was too heavy to be posted so I walked down to the local shop as usual. After a coffee and quick read of the paper, I got out in the back garden to dig up clumps of couch grass in what I call my Rough Patch. They appear every year despite my annual efforts to dig them all up, really annoying. Hastily cloched some areas where I'd dislodged some 'Tommie' crocuses in an effort to keep them safe from squirrels. Found hazel and walnut seedlings in the same area, again courtesy of the squirrels.

Goodness me, @Goldenlily26, please do take care of yourself and Rob of course.

Glad you're feeling better @Blue arbour and you too @Busy-Lizzie.

Pleased you've got some sunshine now @Obelix-Vendée, I wondered where ours had got to!

Right, time for another stint outside I think.

Parkin is in the oven and I have tears in my eyes. I always have waterworks when peeling onions, leeks, spring onions so delegated peeling some of our shalotts to OH and just being in the same kitchen has my eyes going red and teary. Humph.

Now I'm in the front of the house I see the sun has gone into hiding. Double humph.

Glad you're feeling better @Blue arbour and @Busy-Lizzie. I'm a great believer in the benefits of fresh ginger, lemon juice and honey to make a cold busting, sore throat soothing, immune boosting drink.

Got your freezer ye @Ladybird4 ?

                                Afternoon folks.

I had the oven on for a cake tray bake (a simple vanilla one today) so I’ll put an early dinner in now - sausages and root veg. Really fancy a gravy dinner.

Will be dark soon so I’ll just check my patio pots and then settle in whilst the dinner cooks.

Enjoyed ‘Autumn Week’ on Bake Off - I fancy trying a cake with parsnip in after the successful bakes on there. I’ll look for recipes and maybe do one next week.

Enjoy the rest of your day all.
