I like long thin calendars @Obelix-Vendée and there is a shop in Diss that sells them for only 99p. I take one back to France as it hangs on an upright beam between the kitchen and the breakfast room. The space for hanging a calendar in the Norfolk kitchen is quite narrow too. I bought 2 this morning, one with photos of gardens, the other with photos of pretty cottages.

We also went to the small garden centre and I bought several packets of tulip bulbs for the Norfolk garden and 6 bags of special offer compost for mulching. I have a big bag of leaf mould from last year as well, but the home made compost isn't ready yet. I used it all last year.

Afternoon all, we must get a new calendar as well, could have done that this morning as I went into town for a haircut but didn't think about it. I have already bought a new A4 Oxford notebook to use as my gardening diary though.
Didn't have much time for shopping after coffee and cake, just a couple of small presies for OH's birthday on Thursday.
I put the alarm clock on for ten to eight this morning so I could run downstairs and phone the GP's as advised yesterday - fat chance, when I did get through, I was no. 25 in the queue! Will try again tomorrow.

Afternoon all. I am another one who cannot be without a calendar and I have a large one always fixed to the back of my bathroom door so that I cannot miss importants dates such as family and friends birthdays, wedding anniversaries and appointments. I have a least one long narrow one - always cat/kitten related courtesy of family/friends. This one hangs on the kitchen door. The large one in the bathroom is usually from the RHS.
@Ergates I can totally empathise about M&S clothing. The sizes all seem to be unstandardised and I have had to return items also. I mourn the loss of the M&S in town and why, online, they have to sell all other brands is such a shame.
Fireworks have started here. Cricket had his tea and went out. There were some loud bangs and he came in pdq, all of a doo dah! He is now cosily asleep in his nest. I'm pleased about this as he knows now where he is safe.

@lizzie27, I can never get through to my surgery, so I have just given up trying on the phone now. I write instead! I usually get a call back. I get a better response from the pharmacist though.

Someone is trying to give me a cold so I ended up spending my day tucked up on the sofa with throws and hot drinks and a hot PC, dozing between bursts of work. Feeling better for it but frustrated but needing to be well for Covid jab on Friday. Physio tomorrow am but I hope to get out there tomorrow pm.

Our new GP needs a phone call to book an appointment @lizzie27 but the last one was on a system called Doctolib and we could book slots online. Easy peasy. However the new one is good and she listens and is interested.

Possum's in the dumps. Her car broke down just as she was parking at work this morning. Can't change gears so it's been towed to the nearest Renualt garage which is not ideal as the branded garages always charge more than our local chappy but he'd need to do an 80km round trip to fetch it. Waiting to see how the swings and roundabouts compare.

We have no home-grown compost left either @Busy-Lizzie but lots "cooking".

I made some millionaires shortbread today but realised (shock horror) that what I assumed was milk chocoate turned out to be white chocolate! Perhaps I ought to call it misers shortbread instead! I finished my next 3 titchy jumpers so I only need to knit 3 more and I've covered all the coffee/tea mornings helpers. I do knit them three at a time so it doesn't take too long.
Signing out for today. Enjoy your evenings - and bonfires if you are having one and I'll see you all tomorrow.

Evening folks. Just flying in. Hope everyone is doing ok.

Shattered here and my body clock is very much ‘early to bed’ these days, although tonight may be hampered by all the fireworks. I was secretly hoping it would rain to put people off.

I’ve discovered that the best time to ring our GP surgery is between 5 and when they close at 6pm. The queue is often less than five, ( I put the phone on loudspeaker so I can get on with chores until they answer! ) I phoned on Friday evening to change an appointment, and got straight through to a receptionist! Maybe worth a try, @lizzie27?

I was up early to book Tesco Christmas slot.
We buy a Children in need calendar for the kitchen, but keep most commitments (his and mine) on my phone.
Went to art group this afternoon, with absolutely nothing to paint. Dear grand dog leapt onto the screen. Paint me, he said. No, I replied, I only have watercolours. I'm useless with those. Try, he said.
So I started. I paint 'freehand', so hope I do him justice.
