Thanks @Fat Controller and @Ladybird4 . I cleared cache last night but nothing seems to have changed. I’ll take another around the site later on today to see if I can fathom out what has happened.

Rob is improving slowly with each day but of course, the internal wound needs more time to heal. I have noticed the bucket impairs his hearing and he is still getting used to viewing the world from one side. He is beginning to bark when excited, his tail is coming up over his back again and he is moving more freely, all great to see. He likes to "dig" a nest in his beds, he scrunches up the throws I put in them and he is never satisfied until he has rolled them up into a ball to sleep on.
He has never been a water dog although he does now walk through puddles rather than around them, the sea has to be an absolute mill pond for him to paddle right on the very edge of the tide and he tolerates a bath, but he has always hated having his face and paws washed and trimmed although he does allow me to blow him dry with a hairdryer, under sufferance. Because his breed do not shed their coats it is a constant battle to keep it under control to avoid knots and matting.

        Morning everyone.

Firstly, cheesy footballs… I love them too! They only seem available at this time of year though (probably for the best).

@Goldenlily26 - you made me think of the word “scurryfunge” - an underused word which means frantic tidying before a visitor arrives!

        Have a smashing Saturday all.

          Morning everybody,

That's a shame @Goldenlily26 about Rob having to keep the cone on for another week but I expect he's used to it by now and it will soon pass.

Hope you get the laptop sorted soon @Somgbird, sorry I can't help.

I envy you gardening @Busy-Lizzie, it's driving me bananas not being able to do much and playing on here is limited time wise as well. Oh well, patience needed. I'll walk down to the village later to fetch the morning paper so that will keep me occupied for a while. Lots of Saturday supplements. I've also got two Jilly Cooper novels to read as I don't remember doing so in the 80's but I'm not finding them either funny or very interesting - even the sex bits!

OH texted me last night to say he'd forgotten to pack his PJ's and dressing gown - oops, it's rather chilly in his brother's house which is old and quite large. He'll have to sleep in his clothes if it's really cold. They're off to the Classic Car Show today.

Glad you're recovering @redstar, must have been a hell of an accident.

Cheesy footballs have passed my by. That's probably good thing!
Thank you for sharing those most sombre images @Allotment Boy
It is only in the last couple of years that I discovered that mum's cousin died in France in the closing stages of WW1, age 18. She never mentioned him.
Maybe she didn't know either, as she was 6 at the time.
Watched Monty last night. Loved the pot he was using for tulips, but how on earth would I move it from the potting bench?
            Bet he didn't either.

I can only find Cheesy footballs in B&M's. You have to be quick as once they have sold their Christmas stock there are no more until next year. I am sure the tubs are smaller and contain less but are more expensive. I invested in 4 tubs of them, just for me. No sharing!

Just had a phone call from daughter to cancel gardening until after lunch, it is too wet. Heavy mizzle.
She asked me if I had any elastic! Now there is a question. I have to go upstairs to look in the depths of my needle work box. Does fly spray kill moths? I cannot remember the last time I opened my workbox.

My son in law wants some elastic to tie a pull buoy to his leg when competing in swim events?! There are so many different types of elastic I am sure he needs a wide black one, I doubt if pink lacy would do, or shirring elastic.
I have noticed the kids have complete faith in me to have all sorts of weird and wonderful things which they happen to need. Ask Mum, she will have it/know what it is/ how to do it/know where to find it etc. etc.

Another grey day here, apparently we might get some sun on Monday-here's hoping!
Yes we saw the feature on TV that was what prompted us to go, they are there till Monday, not sure if they are due to be displayed anywhere else for a while, some were at the big memorial in France. All made by hand from recycled metal signs.
@Goldenlily26 , the problem comes when they stop relying on you

Grey here too but proper couds with silver linings and blue gaps so better than the general blanket murk of the last week but not as good as yesterday's sunshine.

I don't do cheese balls or puffs or crisps and the only biscuits I buy are ginger snaps for my lemon cheesecake. Had to google B&M and found one here in La Roche! We also have chains called ACTION and GIFI which are similar and rather like old Woolworth's without the open sweets counter and broken biscuits. Lots of cheap tat but some good bargains too.

Thanks for the photos @Allotment Boy. Very moving and atmospheric. My grandad was gassed and wounded in the 1st WW but never taked about it. My dad, aged 17, volunteered for WW2 as soon as it broke out so, not having been conscripted, he didn't get demobbed till late 46 after a spell in what was then Palestine. Didn't talk about it either.

He'll need his collar to stop him accidentally bashing his eye while it heals @Goldenlily26 and he gets used to just having one for vision and adjusts his spacial assessments. Elastic is so very varied in widths, strength and stretchability for different uses so I have laods in my sewing room but not, so far, for swimming purposes.

Didn't see GW last night but it's all recorded. I do wonder about his enormous terracotta pots, both weight and susceptibility to frost damage. I prefer the plastic lookalikes for manoueverability and the ceramic glazed ones for looks but I do have smaller terracotta pots for taking hardwood and semi-ripe cuttings.

                    Afternoon all,
This grey weather is so monotonous now, but we are promised better on Monday. I do hope so.
Been busy cleaning inside cupboards and wardrobes today. There were 5 dopey looking houseflies in the bedroom which I quickly despatched, but couldn’t settle until I’d cleaned every possible hidey hole by pulling out furniture, emptying drawers and the cupboard and giving everything a good fettle round. Thankfully, didn’t find any evidence that might explain the presence of the flies, so I’m mystified as to where they came from. Gave me the eebie jeebies for sure. They probably sneaked in through the window which had been on vent.
                    Relaxing now with coffee.

                      Good afternoon all.

Thanks for the photos, @Allotment Boy - very moving, and a reminder to me to continue transcribing my dad's wartime letters home. (He was in the RAF, in Canada for the first couple of years, then in Europe.) He too didn't speak about his experiences, though the effect on his character was evident. No treatment for PTSD in those days, of course.

The sun's just appeared. I managed to weed about a square metre of flower bed before the concrete returned in my head. It's getting boring now...

                        Hello all.

We've just come back from a guided tour of Norwich Cathedral, followed by coffee and cake. It was interesting, included bits that the public aren't allowed in. Friends gave us a lift, nice not having to drive.

Looks as though it's getting dark already, only 4pm, haven't seen the sun for ages.

We saw some sun this afternoon. Lovely autumn colours too.
Went to Ruthin for our favourite shops and we're now waiting for the 'outlaws' and grandaughter.
I've given up cooking for more than 3 in a caravan, so it's charcuterie, cheeses, brusccheta, deli/olives plus hummus for
                          Grandaughter.
No cook, win win. They do know this!
They won't be late going, so we will watch the festival of remembrance.
Don't you just love dogs? One of them has rolled in badger doodah. Just when you have guests (who are thankfully dog owners too).
                          It has been hosed down.

@Obelix-Vendee, I think most of Monty Don's pots are made by Whichford Pottery and have a 10 year frost proof guarantee and a price tag to match, although the one shown last night may have been Yorkshire Flowerpots, which are similar.

I’ve been watching The Festival of Remembrance, too. Enjoyed it, but I did think the hymn “Great is Thy Faithfulness” was ruined by the person singing it. It was virtually unrecognisable for the most part, in my view. It was sung far too slowly. Anyway, others may disagree, but it lacked “oomph”, I thought.
