    Morning everybody,

Sunshine is trying to break through here so I'm hopeful. OH is going to help me with the sleeper bed renovation as I need to get a breezeblock mortared in as a base on the right hand side. It's too heavy for me to lift with my dodgy hand.

Last night's 1st episode of Hilary Mantel's The Mirror and the Light was absolutely superb!
We both looked at each other when it ended and said 'Wow'. Mark Rylance and Damian Lewis were fantastic and the costumes were a delight. BBC at it's very best. Roll on next week.

      Good morning all.

We are looking forward to watching that tonight @lizzie27.

We've just been to our village Remembrance Ceremony at the memorial. There were more people than last time I went, must have been over 50 plus the children from the primary school. The sun shone.

        Good afternoon.

We have sunshine today and everything looks so much more bright and cheerful. Thank goodness the anticyclonic gloom thingy has departed from these shores. I’ve even risked pegging out some washing.

We had a lovely Remembrance service at church yesterday. It started in the park across from the church where wreathes were laid and silence observed for 2 minutes, then it continued back in the church. We also held our 2 minutes silence today at the end of our coffee morning group.

@Penny_Forthem your painting is superb. You are very talented, and what a lovely reminder of a beautiful dog.

Lunch time shortly and then I really should tackle a bit of housework downstairs.

Meant to add that I watched the first episode of Wolf Hall last night and agree it was brilliant. Such good acting by all and fabulous costumes - the BBC at its best.

Hello everyone. Supposed to be murky all day today but we started off bright and sunny and it's only just clouding over. The wind has changed too and it's feelin nippy compared to the last few days.

I am the proud new onwer of a pawpaw tree. My friend the other side of the village tried it but it grew too slowly - practically stationary - so she was taking it to the plant swap but gave it to me to try instead. i took some fancy leaved cannas but didn't want any swaps.

i also took mulled cider and some black pudding sausage rolls and some cheese and onion sausage rolls and it all disappeared, just like that!

          Lovely portrait @Penny_Forthem.

We watched SCD results last night, after dinner, so have Wolf Hall to catch up on. There seem to be quite a few good new programmes coming soon.

Afternoon all. We've had thick mist all day until half an hour ago, but now it's sunny, sparkling on the wet grass. We're going out later to our choir practice in Limerick (where I'll be listening rather than coughing!) so it's good that the mist has cleared. Unlit country roads and thick mist aren't a good combination.

Remembrance services in Ireland tend to be limited to the Church of Ireland. I guess that since Ireland claimed neutrality in WW2, there's some ambivalence... though many Irish servicemen served and fell in WW1, so you'd hope there would be more general observance. It was good to have Remembrance services on TV, since I wasn't in a fit state to go to church yesterday.

Well, I must be feeling better, because I did a morning of HW... it would be great to have spent time in the garden, but it was cold as well as misty. Hopefully Wednesday will be dry (as forecast), because I have a hospital appointment tomorrow.

I've recently finished reading the Mirror & the Light, so I'm not sure I can cope with the TV adaptation just yet!

Good luck to your pawpaw tree, @Obelix-Vendée . Presumably it'll need to be indoors, at least in the winter?

Your animal portraits are fantastic, @Penny_Forthem .

              Awe, thank you...
I was supposed to see Liubov for an 'English lesson' this afternoon, but she was delayed at college. I made the best of it and planted tulips and amaryllis.
I was just settling down to WH (just my cup of tea) when hub said he didn't like it. So that's one for my personal catch up. Shame, I think he'd enjoy it, but he doesn't 'do' any period dramas.
Family coming for supper tonight. I've done a chicken 'curry' and am just making a cauliflower and paneer 'side'.
I don't even know what a pawpaw tree looks like, @Obelix-Vendée. Must rectify that.

Good afternoon all. I decided I would do some shopping this morning so trundled off to Tesco. I was there at 11:00 when the store went uncannily quiet for the two minutes silence after the last post was played (me crying into a frozen food cabinet at this). It was a lovely tribute. I got myself some sherry and have now got my fruit soaking for my C*******s cakes @Goldenlily26. I was looking at my three remaining geraniums and am considering taking some cuttings from them to bulk up my stock. The sun did breakthrough here but there was little warmth in it.
When Dad was stationed in Malaya (as it was then known) we had pawpaw trees growing in our garden - they are called papaya there though. It was lovely being able to pick them off for our breakfast and we ate them with lots of freshly squeezed lime juice. Delicious. You will have the room now with your ficus having found new homes @Obelix-Vendée.
No league quizzing tonight or next week as we have two byes so I am looking forward to the TV quizzes tonight. Signing out now. See you all tomorrow. Enjoy your yummy foods.

A lovely picture, @Penny_Forthem, you are very talented.
We only got a very short way into Wolf Hall, before OH decided he didn’t fancy watching it, despite liking Damien Lewis! I won’t have the patience to watch all the series on my own, so I’ll just have to read the books. Used to see Hilary Mantel shopping in our local Waitrose. Sad she’s gone.
Today, Oh blew all the leaves on one lawn into a pile for the green bin. I managed to almost fill one green bin yesterday, just clearing the path up to the top of the garden. There are three big beech trees there, one is empty of leaves, one half full of yellow leaves, and the third appears to still be green!

Hello there everyone. Brought in my milk and eggs off the doorstep earlier and noticed (ssshhh!) its dry. Will be busy later on getting my Christmas cakes mixed and baked.
@Ergates, I reckon those trees have conspired to drop their leaves in stages so that just when you think you are on top of the clearing job there is another massive fall.

Good morning. Sunny here but cold. Admin stuff this morning and some gardening this pm, hoping it will have warmed up a bit. The sun is very low in the sky now and catche sthe petals in my shrubby salvias beautifully.

I saw some sun! It’s clouding over now but at least I have daylight today! Unfortunately the light has revealed that some HW and vacuuming is required today. Just awaiting a parcel then I’ll make a start.
