Wet Irish greetings. I need to prune some low-hanging branches off our beech trees, but it's not happening today by the look of things. However, I'm wearing my smug face because I managed to clean out the gutter (including, to my shame, quite a lot of weeds) before the weather changed.

I've almost stopped coughing, and energy is returning... :yay:

So sorry to hear your news, @Blue arbour, very distressing.
Glad some of the coughs are improving, but sorry about your cold, @AuntyRach.
A quiet day here, dull and a bit of drizzle. However, having had to step outside to take the recycling down the road, I finally made myself plant the pack of daffodil bulbs that have been cluttering up the kitchen for weeks! I’ve also dyed one of OH’s favourite cotton jackets. It’s been looking more and more faded, so I thought I’d see if I could freshen it up a bit. Don’t know yet how well it’s worked! Forecast tomorrow for dry and a bit of sun, but extremely cold.

        Afternoon folks,

My condolences @Blue arbour , such a shock when it's unexpected.

Haven't done much today bar our usual walk this morning. Later I was getting ready to get out in the garden but noticed it was raining so that idea was scuppered. I was going to do the ironing instead but haven't yet got around to it. Watched ETTC, a much better choice!

Sorry to hear you have another cold @AuntyRach, that's the second one in a fairly short space of time isn't it? I know your work is very stressful which probably doesn't help.

Evening. Thanks for the cold sympathies.

I’ve slept most of the day. The illness last month was a temperature and headache, and this one is basically a cold. I rarely get colds (didn’t have one last year at all) so not enjoying that. I have been taking those fizzy multivitamins since September but not much Vit D so back on that. Going to make a chicken dinner now as fancy some comfort food and didn’t have a roast yesterday.

I hope everyone is doing ok. Dig those scarves and gloves out for the frosty, even snowy, days ahead!

Enjoy your chicken dinner @AuntyRach. Comfort food at its best. Hope the sniffles are manageable.
We're having roast pork - it was supposed to be for last night, but we were both full after lunch. The kids are not here tonight, so it's a Sunday roast night.
            Was snowing earlier, now rain.
We went to Lidl this afternoon for our frozen Christmas goose. I think it was @Obelix-Vendée who said, basically, if you see it in Lidl, buy it (or two); I saw a rather nice amaryllis in a glass jar (add to cart) and a poinsettia (ditto). I will have to keep both where old girl cannot eat them (she ate a lot of the Christmas cactus I bought there last year. It's flowering well out of her reach this year).

              Good evening,

Thank you for your condolences. We’ve been to my SiL’s this afternoon, and she’s doing reasonably well. There’s so much to sort out, isn’t there, but her daughters are being absolute stars doing all the ringing round. They are gradually working their way through the list. I remember when my parents died, there was such a lot to organise and things to cancel or rearrange. Obviously the funeral can’t be arranged yet until after all the formalities have been dealt with, but there are some things that can be.

I hope you enjoyed your chicken dinner @AuntyRach. I had chicken chasseur today and very nice it was, too.

The weather has really turned today, it’s been bitterly cold here. Sleet forecast for tomorrow.

Good evening everyone. I spent a large part of this morning journeying to the Bank for an appointment - following on from my review a week or so ago. It was a very useful meeting and despite the fact that my beautiful old Bank now looks more like an office, I was happy that all is well. This afternoon I was working in the Church Hall with a friend sorting through the donations that have been made for our upcoming Christmas Fayre. Why are these buildings always as cold as charity??
@Liriodendron, clearing out my gutters is a job I really like doing and I will be doing that task once all the leaves are finally off the trees. For a brief second @Ergates, I thought that your dyeing of your OH's jacket was an accident then realised my mistake!
I was surprised to find a letter from the NHS on my doormat when I got home advising me that I could book my flu and covid vaccinations - it is only seven weeks after the event! I know my post is somewhat erratic but that is hilarious! @Penny_Forthem, I love Miss Anu's fuzzy muzzle - so cute.

Good morning everyone. Well who would have thought that there would be a day to celebrate toilets! My world has been painted white overnight! I guess that means those garden jobs will have to be put on hold for a while. Enjoying my first cup of tea of the day and pondering on what to eat for my breakfast. I hope that everyone has a marvellous day.

Morning @Ladybird4 - do you have much snow? I was saying in weather thread the other day - it looks pretty but is basically a big fat hassle for anyone with work/school/travel/appointments etc.

Take care all those with snow and ice.

I’m just medicating and caffeinating myself before heading to work - luckily just a half day office day.

                        Catch you all later.

                            Good morning all !!

It is clear, bright and coldish this morning. Nothing as to what you are experiencing up there in Blighty!! A bit early for this sort of weather, isn't it? The mountain areas are expecting snowfall here, which will be a good thing for restauranteurs alike to get the tourist season started for Christmas. So difficult for everyone, everywhere to trade these days.

Not sure about Toilet Day @Ladybird4 but perhaps we should thank Prince Albert for his plumbing ideas? Have a nice half day @AuntyRach Maybe home to a light siesta to recharge your batteries!!

Here's to you all for a pleasant day!!
