    Morning all.

No snow here in Norfolk but it rained quite heavily last night.

Friends are coming to dinner so I must prepare food and tidy the sitting room.

Morning all. We're supposed to be getting your snow later today - it's currently 3C and dull. OH has a doctor's appointment, so I'm staying in so we don't miss DPD delivering his new passport (any time up to 6pm). Shopping can wait for a bit, hopefully not until after the snow has started.

Yesterday's wet day was useful in forcing me to do some much needed paperwork, but also involved spending money... sorted out my seeds, and ordered more for next year, then put in an order for bare root raspberries, together with a few other things to make the P&P worth while! Finally found some things on the Screwfx Black Friday deals which it would have been rude to leave un-bought. :noidea::biggrin:

Edit: just got an email from DPD re Sfx order: "Your parcel has left our sortation facility..." What's wrong with "sorting office"?

We're looking after our granddaughters tomorrow - should be fun!

Good morning. It's cold and very blowy with intermittent squalls of rain and the leaves are flying off the trees but the salvias and coreopsis are still gaily flowering.

I hope your cold goes away quickly @AuntyRach and that any snow doesn't cause massive disruption.

I'm having a quiet day today, making carrot and ginger soup and then sewing until it's time for dance class. I hope you all have a fun/peaceful/productive day as planned.

Well that wasn't in the plan, woke up to a covering of snow it wasn't supposed to get this far south. No gardening today then, so glad I got most of the mulching done at the weekend, surprisingly the 1ton bag wasn't quite enough so one border still needs doing.

Big clouds down here, but also big patches of blue sky. Very windy, up high, and at ground level too. Popped out for lunch (I had a beetroot, hummus, crispy chickpea and rocket sandwich, yum!) and we will have a walk afterwards. It’s surprisingly warm, although daughter in Oxford woke up to snow covered roofs. Very pretty as long as she doesn’t have to go out.
I went through some cupboards yesterday, and have taken a pile of stuff to the tip. No idea why I had hung onto two old hand mixers! If my current one packs up, I’ll just get a new one. Wouldn’t even occur to me to look in the cupboards for a spare!
I must contact the guy who cleared our gutters last winter. I’ve always done it myself in the past, as most of the house is a bungalow, it is doable. However, one section has two levels, which required balancing on steps, while wielding the hose pipe tied to a window cleaning pole! Last year, we noticed a rather healthy plant growing in one section of gutter, and I decided that I’m definitely too old for this lark!
Hope @RowlandsCastle is ok? Haven’t seen him on the forum for a little while.

Unexpected snow mid morning! I’m home now and yes a siesta for me as it’s hard work sniffing and feeling bunged-up.

Take care all and enjoy your day.

Afternoon all. What a stunning snow picture @Penny_Forthem. mine was pretty too but not quite as deep as yours. You will need a ton of energy for tomorrow @Liriodendron but it will be a lot of fun with your grandchildren. @Allotment Boy, I am so impressed with you managing to move a ton of mulch. I was trying to imagine how tall a heap that would make. I hope your dinner gathering was a success @Busy-Lizzie and that your dance class goes well @Obelix-Vendée.
My neighbours - of all days they could have chosen - have had a new front door installed and it looks super. Its black and east facing so I am keeping my fingers crossed that in the summer, when the sun beats down on it, it doesn't expand and become difficult to open. She is expecting her second baby on December 11th. I am very excited! Their little daughter always knocks and brings me a daisy from their lawn or brings a new toy to show me. She is such a cutie.

Quiet afternoon greetings (so as not to wake @AuntyRach ). Hope the cold eases up soon!

Snow hasn't materialised yet. I went shopping twice... packed all my stuff into the shopping trolley, then looked for my purse... I'd left it at home. Fortunately the staff know me, so I just left the trolley, trotted back home, & back to the shop to pay. No doubt the exercise did me good!

Re-reading the DPD email, I see they've sent my parcel "on it's [sic] onward journey". Well, I'm glad it's onward rather than backward.

Edit: I've just seen your post, @Ladybird4 . Agreed about the need for energy tomorrow, though the girls don't require as much input from Granny these days. They are growing up fast! Anyway, I shall have an early night tonight so as to be prepared...

Thanks for the correction @Busy-Lizzie  I have just remembered - a little too late now that I must get my outside tap's insulating cover out of the garage. In fact I shouldn't put it off if the temperatures are going to be so low tonight. They are talking -3°C tonight. Right, I'm off to do that right now!

@Ladybird4 I can't tell a lie, I only shifted about half of it on my own. The mulch was in a skip bag, I spread it on the front garden, next to where it was delivered. I had help spreading the rest in the back, which meant it being carried through in trug buckets, my side path is too narrow for a wheelbarrow.

Well, well done you @Allotment Boy! That will have been a huge task. Pleased to report I actually found my tap's cover on first visit to the garage. I've made a note in my diary! I thought it might take me a couple of days search at least.
