      Hello everyone!

Hope Bert soon loses his grip. Good news about your internet, @Busy-Lizzie ; hopefully your friend will soon have her electricity restored.

We had a fairly wet and wild night (which blew away a lot of leaves fallen onto the lawn), but it's now dry and sunny, though still windy. My normal church service was cancelled due to illness, so I went instead to the Baptist church in Limerick, tying in nicely with OH's service in Limerick Cathedral, where he sings in the choir. Now we're having a lazy afternoon, because we're stuffed! Had a late lunch in a cafe we like, on the way home.

I hadn't thought of suet nibbles, @Ergates . Thanks for the suggestion! I might give them a try first, before looking for wriggly things...

Back home after a DIY shop run and checking in on MIL. So many areas of flooding about - I didn’t expect it on main roads!

Sunday evening mode will be activated shortly: chicken dinner prep, uniform drying/ironing etc.

Enjoy the rest of the day folks - lazy or productive as you wish.

Hello everyone. Interesting coffee morning after Church this morning. My friend nearly freaked out because there were two extremely large spiders in the sink. I rescued them (and her) by releasing the spiders into the garden. It was extremely cold in the Hall so the hot drinks went down a treat. I was surprised at all the havoc 'Bert' has been wreaking round and about. These were my neighbours bins:

Pleased you are reconnected @Busy-Lizzie. Tell you what though that wind must have been horrendous if it blew down your friend's wall. Love your new words @AuntyRach. Along that vein how about when you go for the last drink out of your mug only to discover its stone cold: Pre-empt-tea?

I’m used to that cold last swig of tea @Ladybird4 - occupational hazard! The face it makes you pull is a universal signal!

Still raining heavily here and has been all day. At one point our lane was flooding badly as all the rainwater pours off the hills all around us and the natural springs open up. I was on the point of contacting the Council when the fast running floods appeared to slow down. I guess workmen? or somebody further down the lane had cleared a blockage somewhere and the flood waters got diverted into the brook. Far too wet to go and see! Thank goodness, we're on the side of a hill and the drive slopes down to the road.

Our DIL was running a 10k race this morning in a very windy but dry South coast town, good for her.

I also pull a face when my tea gets cold!

Bless you @AuntyRach. Good morning all. I'm out to lunch with my squash team today. Plenty of reminiscences and catch up. Got to read my meters today first though.

                              Good morning everyone!!

My reminder today @Ladybird4 is to make a dr's appointment for renewal of prescription. Nowadays, the prescriptions are valid for 3 months only and you cannot get a repeat unless you go to the dr in person! So be it!

Have a good day @AuntyRach I suppose you are well into your shift by now. My nursing neighbour does 12 hour shifts too - he says he prefers it. His wife (also a nurse) does the normal shift hours.

I am glad that the people who lived through Bert, have come out all right. I hope no one had any flooding.

We are having exceptionally warm weather here. It's extremely windy and we had a high yesterday or 18°C!! When I let Fizz out yesterday morning, it was 16°C!! Very warm and humid. The paving and tiles were wet with humidity. We had sun yesterday afternoon - still windy though. It looks as if the week is going to be a warm one - for this time of year. The weeds are growing like .....like weeds!!

I hope @Badly_Maintained and @Rowlands Castle are in good health. They are conspicuous by their absence!!

We seem to have got off fairly lightly down here with the storm Burt yesterday. Not such strong wind or rain but still miserable. It is a lovely sunny morning so I am going to take a chance and put some washing out. Nothing like tempting fate.
My lovely son in law came and fitted a new mixer tap in the kitchen, no more boiling kettles to wash up etc. I emptied the 2 cupboards under the sink to make his job easier and was surprised to find little evidence of damp, lots of sorting out of plastic containers and bottles of cleaning fluids, clothes etc. to do. He saved me £90.00 which B&Q charge, also the electrical shop near me to fit the tap.He was rewarded with a couple of sausage rolls, a slice of my fruit pie with a cup of tea and a pair of flip flops I bought for myself but realised were too big for me so have never worn. They are not the £1.00 plastic ones but expensive suede ones so he has had a good deal as he asked for a pair of flip flops as his Christmas present.
I put my head in the cupboard next to the under sink cupboard and was horrified. Rusting tins, mould etc. I am concerned about where the damp is coming from, possibly next door.
I prepped a couple of pounds of pickling onions ready to pickle, skinned the onions, put them under salt and made the pickling vinegar. Now I have to find some suitable jars, I plan to give some of them as Christmas presents and one jar as a donation to the club Christmas raffle.
