Morning all. Wind is worse this morning than yesterday. Have noticed a small( thank goodness) Yew tree that was planted in the ground from a pot, earlier on in the year, has been uprooted from the ground. Will have to have a look when things calm down how bad it is. Our neighbour has had both ridges of his roof tiles blown off. They have come crashing down on his other neighbours garage roof. Hate wind. Could do with some Peace from your candle @Ante1 ,

Hello everyone. Thank you for your sympathy re the vets bill.
Firstly, Rob's blood tests results show things are back to normal! Thank goodness we seem to have caught the Cushings in time. Rob will have to be on medication for the rest of his life but he has bounced back almost to his old self. It is fairly obvious to me the vet feels very guilty about not identifying the condition much sooner and is doing everything she can for him now.
When the vet called me with the results she ask how was I feeling, so I told her! I was not happy. She was very apologetic and asked me to speak to them next time I go in and they will arrange for me to pay off the bill in installments which is a help but I am going to contact the Ins. Com. and put a bomb up their backside re not warning me I had reached the limit of Rob's current cover, really bad management in my opinion. It is difficult because the cost is for the surgery and treatment Rob has already be given, I suppose my choice if I had known in advance would have be to have him put to sleep or pay up.

I hope everyone is safe and well after the storm. Down here in Cornwall it was bad, to put it mildly. It sounded as if there was someone in the house banging a bass drum constantly from Friday mid day until last night, it was the wind hitting the end of the cottage. It was un-nerving but because I am out in the sticks there were no flying objects, trees down etc. Mt fire fighter son in law called to check I was OK, he said they had no power and were busy with lots of minor incidents but nothing major locally. My power stayed on fortunately.

My poor daughter had an SOS to drive 4 hours to Reading on Thursday because her father had slipped off his bed and had been taken to hospital to be checked over. Nothing broken thank goodness, he was kept in for 24 hours monitoring then sent home. My daughter had to drive home through the tail end of the storm. At least it was "only windy" not pouring with rain as well.

I think someone has tried to hack into my bank account as weirdly, my sister had a couple of text messages saying I was taking money out of her bank account. Fortunately, because we are both very "scam aware" she did nothing. We have both phoned our banks, my account had been frozen because of unusual activity and I am going to report it to the Fraud Line. All because I tried to pay a bill to someone in Canada I think.

It is a lovely morning, sunshine and blue sky but still very windy so I am going to try and get a load of washing out to blow dry and take Rob for a walk. I think I am going to use one of my crutches as a 3rd leg, Dum diddle Dum Dum as I was almost blown off my feet yesterday when I went outside my front door.
      Apologies for the long post.

        Good morning,

Wet and blustery here today but not as wild as it got yesterday and last night. Everything seems to be intact other than a couple of pots have blown over.

My goodness @Goldenlily26, thank goodness you and your sister are scam savvy. I do hope everything gets sorted quickly and your account can be unfrozen. It’s good, though, that your bank reacted quickly to the unusual activity. It’s just all the inconvenience these despicable scammers cause is a pain. I’m pleased, too, that the vet is going to allow payment by instalments.

Church for me this am, it’s the tree lighting and gift giving service today. When I get back, I’m going to make the Dundee cake for Christmas .

        Have a good day everyone.

          Good morning all.

I'm glad Rob is so much better @Goldenlily26. What a relief for you, despite the expense.

It's not a gardening day so I think I'll do my French Christmas cards.

Good afternoon, still wet and windy here, I thought it was supposed to have gone by now. Yesterday it seemed past by midday, but the wind and rain returned after dark worse tthan before. The wind has changed direction too and it's coming in from the front, it blew over a 1/2 standard Holly in a pot by the front door but nothing broken.
            Stay safe and warm everyone.

Still howling out there. OH went out yesterday to check the postbox ( empty) and said there is tree debris everywhere. The sound of the wind is quite terrifying, a continual loud moaning, but it’s actually sunny out now. It was dreadful last night, all sorts of bangs and thumps, I haven’t psyched myself up to go and check outside. Nothing obvious apart from one of the watering cans which is halfway down the drive.
What a relief that Rob is recovering, and you have some respite on the unexpected bill.
OH is settling down to watch the final Grand Prix of the year. I suppose I could go and do something constructive while he is suitably entertained.

Gardening club AGM and lunch today. Bit long winded in he AGM part as people don't listen and need things explaining 3 or 4 times but otherwise convivial and a good lunch. Still very blowy out there and lots of bits of tree down on the roads into town.

@Busy-Lizzie "smelly" potatoes are what Possum called them when little. She first had them in Rome when she was 14 months and has loved them ever since. I sometimes do it with sweet potatoes , pumpkin and even cauliflower.

Progress of a sort @Goldenlily26 and at least Rob is recovering well. Good luck with the insurance company.

I hope the weather calms down for everyone. Set to be quiet but turning icy cold here tomorrow and Tuesday. Patch tomorrow anyway but looks like more sewing on Tuesday.

Whatever you're doing, enjoy and stay safe.

Afternoon all, so pleased to read that the vets bill can be paid in instalments and that Rob's results were good @Goldenlily26. Thank goodness you had no damage from the storm, that would have been the last straw. The long journey for your daughter must have been very unpleasant.

Glad the AGM went relatively well @Obelix-Vendée. I think it's going to be colder here as well.
It was still very windy with strong gusts when we braved our usual walk this morning but much colder with a north wind than I was expecting - I must dig out my beautifully warm pink fur
thingie, I've forgotten what it's called, like a detachable very large polo neck which you can wear around your neck or over your head. Had it for a good few years now.

My OH is going to watch the GP highlights later as we don't have Sky @Ergates. Annoyingly it's on right through our usual dinner-time so he'll have to have his on a tray . Later it's Wolf Hall, can't wait.

Our visitors have gone home, having done another visit into town as the Christmas Market had reopened this morning - they're gluttons for punishment! Granddaughter is growing up fast - 13 going on 18! A very kind, polite young lady now.

Right, I think it's time to put the kettle on!

It was with some trepidation that I looked out of the window this morning.
Thankfully, the greenhouse is Ok, just one panel missing (and I do have a spare). My hanging egg chair has been blown over, but I haven't been out to right it yet. The deck is too slippery.
The patio furniture is half way down the garden. It was a wild 2 nights, that's for sure.
We had a hairy journey into the hills this afternoon with the dogs to check on the van. Lots of branches down, but all was well.
                    Glad you are all safe.

                      Evening folks.

I hope everyone is doing ok after this horrible weather. Just doing my Sunday routine of chicken dinner, hair wash, ironing uniforms etc. Garden looks ok but old apple tree stump did appear to sway a bit so that might be finished - It’s only there as a bird perch but is covered with a lovely climbing Hydrangea.

Enjoy the rest of Sunday folks.

Hello there everyone. First of all I must say how lovely it was to read about Rob @Goldenlily26 Admittedly there are still the monetary issues to sort out but just seeing your little dog more like his old self must have lifted your spirits. Your daughter must have hated that long, scary car journey. Pleased to hear that everyone has survived the storm though @Songbird you must have been relieved that the tiles from your neighbour's roof went the other direction!
The Christmas Fayre went well today and was a lot of fun but there were definitely only half the visitors of last year. I don't know the final figure amassed but I think that will be indicative of the times we are living in now.

Good morning everyone and a happy Monday to you all. Got a food delivery first thing and then I must get more cards written and some posted. I have decided - with caution - that as my Christmas tree which I loaned to the Christmas Fayre is still downstairs, I am going to put it up. Eek am I daft or what? I will only know if I try. Watch this space!

                              Good morning all!

A cold week in store here but we have wind which makes it feel colder. A little sun but mainly cloudy. Maybe the wind will sweep some of the clouds away!!

I was glad to read over your messages and see that you are safe from this last storm. I hope @Ante1 will be too. In the meantime everyone, have a good start to the week.

Good morning. The wind is finally dying down and I slept thru 7 hours for the first time in a week. Set to be very cold today and all week with northerly winds making it feel below zero so I can't see much gardening being done especially as the house needs a spring clean before all the decs go up.

Good to know that Wakers posting in are OK and have minimal damage. I hope those who haven't been in for a while have survived the storms without too much damage or trauma.

I'm off to patch club today, leaving early to wrap everyone's Xmas prezzie and chocs with a couple of friends on the committee so we can give them out this pm. Many of our ladies disappear early for Xmas and won't be there next Monday.

Have a good start to the week everyone.
