Morning everyone, there's a funny bright yellow thing in the sky anyone know what it is? :)
Yesterday eve we went to Ashridge NT, for their Christmas lights with all the family. If we hadn't pre-booked I don't think we would have gone marching around the grounds in the wind and drizzly rain. They had cancelled the Saturday session, and ours was much quieter than these things usually are, such a shame because they put a lot of effort into these things. We went for a meal out after so it wasn't all bad.

Jupiter maybe! Friends of mine had booked to go to Dunham Massey for their Christmas light display and that was cancelled because of the shocking weather. They booked in the Summer and have been promised a refund.

Evening everybody, it looks like there are not so many posters today so I'm presuming people are trying to catch up on whatever they had planned to do over the weekend.

It was dry when we woke up at 8.30 am and then turned sunny which was a distinct bonus.
OH went off to collect the paper and I got outside for ongoing work to complete my sleeper bed project. Desperate to get it all finished before Xmas and/or more bad weather. Just the clearing up left to do, but scratching my head on where or how to dispose of a garden cart full of clayey lumps which are left over. Strange how soil once dug out never seems goes back in!
Had an unexpected visitor this afternoon, a good friend who does a lot of volunteering and often drives patients to our local hospital. He then comes to us for a cuppa and a warm stay before going back to collect his patients. It's always nice to see him, he and OH can talk about cars and trains for hours. I just supply the tea and biccies.

It's been very quiet here. I wonder if people's electricity or Internets are down after the storm? Maybe just busy with Christmas. I posted the last of my cards today, walked to the letter box in the next hamlet which was looking very Christmassy with lots of trees with shiny bows on them and a Father Christmas with sleigh, reindeer and elves in someone's garden. I think I'll put it in this month's photo competition.

Good evening @lizzie27. I've been doing catch up jobs today - still not finished them all though. I had to fill the bird feeder in the back garden as the robin was going bonkers on the fence. He/she does that every time the feeder is needing filling. I got the 12 tea towels we used at the Fayre yesterday washed and pegged out and got my food order all stashed away. That was the morning more or less finished. I've been writing cards most of the afternoon. I have to say that soon becomes monotonous and I can easily distract myself by making another cuppa.

Good morning everyone. I'm off to see my rellies this morning. We are meeting at one of my sister's places and it does mean I can offload some of the Christmas cards I wrote yesterday.

Morning everyone, back to grey today. :dunno:

Going to the plots today, I didn't get there yesterday, because I had to wait for a parcel, I then went to get a haircut, and onwards to get a rear light bulb for the car. In spite of looking up the part, I ended up with the wrong one only to find I already had a spare in the glove compartment, so I will have to take the other ones back.
@lizzie27 it's always a good idea to wait 3-4 weeks to let soil settle properly when you dig out a lot of soil, even if you tread the bed once finished. The soil may need topping up in spring, especially if it's a wet winter.

Morning all. What a lovely morning so far. Blue sky and sunshine. I managed to get a line of washing dry, another load going out today.
Rob looks gorgeous, all soft and fluffy after his pampering session at the groomers bless him, he smells delicious as well! His fur seems to be growing back so he doesn't look so naked, hopefully his lovely plume of tail will regrow.Yesterday I had a chase up phone call from the vet asking when I was going in to make the first payment, I let them know how I felt, they say the insurance company did not tell them I had reached the maximum for Rob.
My daughter called round on Sunday to off load how things had gone for her when she went to see her father. He was as belligerent as ever, she ended up having to cut back an overgrown path with blunt kitchen scissors and a bread knife so the stretcher could be got into the house. She was exhausted trying to stay calm and contained and faces another visit this week end when they are going up with Christmas presents etc. She is taking a casserole with her, just cook some fresh veg to go with it when they get there. Then on to see my son in law's family up country.
I felt awful yesterday, as if I was developing a bug or something nasty, I slept for a couple of hours when I got home with Rob, crashed out when I went to bed and so far today feel a bit more human thank goodness. Onwards and upwards.

Well, another lb down and 3lbs from 'target'. Don't think I'll reach it by Christmas, especially with the meals out in the diary.
Speaking of which, I'm off to the art club C'mas do. 3 of us are ill, so it'll be a very much reduced group.

Hello everyone. It's very grey and very cold outside so I've spent a lazy morning reading. As it is hovering around 0C and there's a nasty northerly draught making it feel colder I shall not be attemting any gardening other than checking my nursery pots are still upright.

Yesterday did not go as planned at patch because my treasurer pal's MIL died in the night - 100 and senile so a relief but still sad - so she popped in to deposit the prezzies and wrappers and then had to scarper to organise funeral, priest and all the rest. She'd sent a text early on so we could get another helper but it arrived an hour after we started but FF and I managed just in time before people started arriving.

Good session nevertheless and they liked their presents - organiser box with some Ferrero Rocher chocs inside.

Have a lovely day whatever you're doing - hibernating, cards, feasting, gardening - and good luck to those clearing up after the storm.

Afternoon all, we both bussed into town, me for a haircut and OH to get his charity Xmas cards from the old church which organises a big sale of them. Mentioned to OH on the bus that I thought I could do with a longer padded coat to keep me warmer whilst walking, rather than the short jacket I was wearing. Lo and behold, when I popped in the Cancer UK shop for some Xmas cards, turned to go out and there was this padded coat - screaming buy me, buy me. Tried it on, a size smaller than my usual size, it fitted, hurrah! Didn't look like it's ever been worn so an absolute bargain. It's a dusky blue colour. Did a quick change at the hairdressers and boy, did I need it whilst waiting a long time at the bus stop. Icy, northerly wind.
The bus was absolutely packed both ways and most people got on and off at the local hospital. Couldn't quite work out why in the middle of the morning.
Fortified ourselves with a late lunch of veg soup and a banana. It is supposed to be a fasting day today but I feel that's not very sensible in cold weather at our age.

Enjoy your Xmas do @Penny_Forthem . Congratulations on the weight loss.

You did sterling work there @Obelix-Vendée . Shame about your pal's MIL though. It's especially awful when bereavements happen at Christmas time I feel. My SIL is dreading her first Christmas without my late brother. She has sent me a beautiful Christmas tree ornament, a clear plastic heart shape with white (angel) feathers inside and two tiny silver hearts with verses on referring to a brother, tied to white ribbon. Very thoughtful of her and totally unexpected.

You are a busy bee these days @Ladybird4. Enjoy the meeting with your rellies.

I've only done a few Xmas cards @Busy-Lizzie, you put me to shame.

I'd forgotten the bit about the soil settling @Allotment Boy, thanks for reminding me. I'll keep some soil back ready for topping up in the Spring. I've only had to fill in the gap just behind the sleepers so will not need to tread it down.

Afternoon everyone. I don’t think I posted here yesterday but I have read.

I don’t do many C’mas cards but I must go to buy some from the Hospice charity shop tomorrow. The local hospice is my charity of choice since the team looked after my Mum so wonderfully.

I’ve also been asked to make gift tags for the work presents as I did them for the last few years. They are handmade from old cards etc / easy to do by cutting out a bit with a picture or pattern, edging with ‘pinking’ scissors and attach a ribbon.

Have a good rest of the day folks.

                                Glad my reminder was timely.
Surprised at the Allotments, everything was intact, even the two netted cages were ok, I was expecting them to at least be at drunken angles. I may have said before, but our site is windy at the best of times, maybe it was from a different direction this time.
