Well I'm not sure what happened there @Busy-Lizzie because I did find a little emoji with a halo.
Good morning everyone. Hairdo day today at Bestie's but I'm still feeling one degree under so it will be a quick visit.

        Morning all.

Just nipping in before work. I thought @Ladybird4 and any quizzers would like the festive puzzles from GCHQ. I done the first two and will have a look at the others later…

        The GCHQ Christmas Challenge 2024

Have a safe, calm and pleasant day all.

          Good morning all!!

The sun put his hat on and came out to play yesterday afternoon so I was able to prune and cut up the 5 grapevines in the vegetable garden. Not strenuous work - in fact quite calming and satisfying. Snip, snip, snip. It's raining but the sun was peeping through a minute ago.

I hope everyone has a pleasant Thursday.

Good morning all. Dull and grey here, but we had to get out after a day at home, trying to do a big tidy up and failing dismally. We managed to get our green bins filled ready for the final collection before mid January, so in some ways, the pressure is off in the garden. I did give some of the house plants a bit of TLC. One of my peace lilies in the kitchen was getting rather pot bound, so has ended up divided into three, I hope I haven’t upset its routine at this time of the year. Also wondering where I am going to put them all.
Don’t know yet who is coming, and when, over Christmas. I think it’s daughter’s turn to visit / host her in laws for Christmas Day, and son and family usually come to us when they are here, for a family get together. OH has suggested that maybe it would be nice if they came separately so it’s less chaotic and he can have more quality time with each of the offspring. I disagree. I think he has forgotten how little quality time he can cope with at once, and it’s really handy having the extra adults to keep the grandsons entertained and amused! It’s no harder for me doing a meal for eight than four or six, and as one of six children, the more the merrier for me at Christmas. Poor OH was virtually an only child, older parents and a much older brother, so he has always found my family gatherings a bit intimidating. Still, he has enough allowances made for him the rest of the year, so he’ll have to put up with the possibility of a (very small) crowd.
Hope everyone with aches, pains and bugs recovers quickly.

Weekly shop day today but late leaving as I was reading again. Home for a quick bowl of soup for a late lunch. It's freezing again in the wind so OH is wrapping up to go and spend an hour cutting grass while it's dry. I shall go and hibernate in my sewing room. Homework to do for patchwork next Monday and I'm planning to paint it in January so some sorting to do before I empty it all out into other bedrooms and the landing.

I can understand your OH @Ergates but on this occasion it's his own offspring and g'kids and he's had plenty of time to get used to them.

OH will enjoy your puzzles link @AuntyRach. Thank you.

Hugs to anyone feeling below par or proper poorly.

Where am I going and why do I need a halo @Ladybird4? :dunno:

                Good afternoon.
Back from the Gardening Club party and Bring and Share lunch. There was a gardening Quiz and a raffle too. We were 2nd in the quiz but one section needed a map to show were certain plants were from and our team didn't have the map which would have made it easier. It was fun and I knew a lot of the people. OH met the OH of a gardening friend and they found that they had both had the same careers in computing involving a lot of travel when they were younger.

I suspect that the halo remark was meant for me @Busy-Lizzie, as I resisted a crumble for pud!!
Has anyone seen the 2 unopened rolls of wrapping paper that I had over from last year? I saw them a few weeks ago, but they've disappeared. Maybe the Elf has half inched them.

                    Good afternoon all.
Sunny but very cold day here. I went to the cottage after school, and in the long walk with my dog in the woods. Up there was very cold, -3℃. Tomorrow is 13th December and time for new story about Christmas here, my favorite must say. Think you will also like it. I might have an early dinner and cup of tea.

                    First snow this winter.

Sorry your brain is foggy, @Ladybird4 ! These winter bugs are unpleasant.

I've just booked my next trip to Scotland, at the end of February. Not the best time for weather, but I'll need to be there to clear up after the plumber. I love it at any time of year, actually...

My Christmas pud smells yummy. I don't blame you for declining to make one, @Obelix-Vendée , just for your OH! It's quite a lot of work. Now for the sausage rolls & mince pies. I usually make a Simnel cake for Christmas - the wrong season, I know, but we all like it better than a heavy Christmas cake. Or perhaps I should think about a Yule log this year?

I congratulated myself on spending part of this morning clearing out and rationalising a kitchen cupboard, so as to make enough space for the festive food, but there's more to be done to make the house habitable and grandson-friendly. Still time, though. Unless I get distracted by gardening catalogues, of course. ;)

Smashing photos @Ante1 but it does look so cold!!!

Warmer here, about 7c but still with that northerly wind. Forecast to swing round to our usual SW one by Monday hopefully.

Feeling smug because I wrote all my cards last night and OH posted them this morning. That's a good week earlier than normal for us. He's busy labouring over his as I type, he has lots more friends than I have.

Had a quick tidy up in the back garden before lunch, tried to rake the slate back but it's embedded in thick clay mud so am just going to leave it until the Spring. I'm hoping a hard frost, heavy rain and/or drying winds might help! At least the bench and the big rose pot are back in their usual position.

Hope your bug goes away soon @Ladybird4 and you feel better soon. I feel rather shorn after my haircut on Tuesday - too busy chatting to my hairdresser to notice what she was doing.

again! Don't Fridays come round quickly? I hope everyone has a peaceful night.
