He was doing so well @Goldenlily26 So hard to believe that he went so quickly. You certainly gave him some last happy days. My thoughts are with you. We all know how hard it is to part from our such loved pets.

        Morning all,

So sorry to hear your news @Goldenlily26.

We slept right through to gone 9 am this morning but I must say I do feel better for it. It's very warm here, over 13c so must get out in the garden whilst it lasts.

@Busy-Lizzie, It's so annoying that the jabbed arms hurt afterwards and especially now when there's so much to do. Presumably you've taken some paras to help.

I'm so very sorry @Goldenlily26 and know how deeply sad you must feel. You will, in time, be able to focus on the good memories and all the love and fun but, for now, let yourself grieve.

It is grey here and very still. I've been to physio this morning. No more now till the 8th of Jan so I'll have to be good about exercises at home.

On the way home, after a deviation via a big Carrefour SM in La Roche where I know I can get cottage cheese, I was driving along the road to our village when I came across a filthy, wet terrier running along the road. I stopped and asked if it was lost and it happily got in the car with me and tried to climb on my lap.

He/she has now eaten all the cat biscuits and wet food, had a very long drink and then a shower. Still filthy but it'll take a few goes and I've had to cut great clumps out of its wiry coat. Very calm and now sat on a fleece blanket at my feet grooming itself. Vet at 3pm to see if it's micro-chipped. If not, photos on local FB groups.

There goes my afternoon of more cleaning and more windows and bringing in the tree.

Hugs to all who need them and get well soon to all recuperating from lurgies or ops.

          Have fun today.

My heart goes out to you @Goldenlily26. Very sad.
I was meeting my friend for lunch today, but she's cancelled (she has form for it!) so my hub is bravely accompanying me (again!)

So sorry to hear your sad news @Goldenlily26 and after he was doing so well of late. Very sudden for you and a great shock. Look after yourself and as others have said, try and think of all the lovely times you have had with him.

I've been to the vet now and he has no microchip or tattoo to identify him so I've posted him on Pet Alert and local FB groups to see if someone claims him. Did not want to leave the house and then did not want to leave the car and clung to me all the time at the vet's and on the way home again. Calm now but has clearly had a rough time of late. Cosmos and Minstrel not impressed.

My thoughts are with you, @Goldenlily26. Never gets any easier, even consoling ourselves with the thought of the happy lives they have had with us.

What a handsome boy, @Obelix-Vendée! I’m afraid I’d be hoping that no one would come forward to claim him! And I bet he is thinking that he won’t want to leave somewhere with such exquisite bedding! Reminds me of those gorgeous Lesley Ivory paintings of cats on Persian rugs!

We are just back from lunch at the Donkey Sanctuary with a neighbour and her dog. OH and I shared a delicious sandwich, filled with turkey, stuffing and pigs in blankets. He had chips on the side, and I had a side of cauliflower florets in a crispy batter with curried peach chutney, really tasty. We were so lucky with the weather, rather dull and grey, but we had a decent walk, and plenty of chat, starting raining just as we got back to the car.
Now relaxing at home with feet up and a cup of tea. Don’t think much more will get done today.

He's a cute looking dog @Obelix-Vendée. If the owner isn't found, would you like to keep him? Did the vet have any idea of his age? Dogs in France have to be microchipped by law. I knew a farmer near my old house who had a magnificent Lassie Collie. He said he was following a car which slowed down and someone threw a puppy on the grass verge. The farmer took it in. He didn't know what it would grow into but he loved it.

@lizzie27, I did take paracetamol which helped. I finished the ironing then after lunch the sun came out so I went outside and finished weeding the island bed and mulching the orchard fence border.

Your new friend looks very much at home, @Obelix-Vendée . I hope either that he has a loving, worried owner who will be ecstatic to have him returned, or that he's already found his forever home with you.

I was more cautious with my choice for lunch today; I had a gin cured smoked salmon starter as a main, with a side of chunky chips, which I couldn't finish. The salmon came with horseradish sauce, which cleared out my nasal passages perfectly!!
I've got liver for my tea (hub won't touch it) but despite being quite a modest lunch, I cannot face anything else yet.
Miraculously, I haven't put on any weight.
I've organised the tree collection in January through the local hospice and started the dreaded wrapping. I have 2 things to contend with; *** arthritis and a dog who's besotted with sellotape.
I've taken in 2 dogs who 'arrived' with me and were not claimed - but this was before the days of chipping and social 'meejia'. They were both the most amazing companions. Fate moves in mysterious ways.

@Obelix-Vendée - I see you have made a friend. I hope all is well with the little buddy. I’m not surprised the cats are unimpressed - they make their thoughts known don’t they.

A yuk, rainy weather day here - miserable driving and walking about in it. It’s certainly the time of year for comfort food and cosy evenings.

                                Take care all.
