Oh, @Ante1, what a dreadful shock, such a tragedy. These things are terrible at any time, but especially so at this time of year.

@Ante1 that is awful. A tragedy like this, particularly at this time of year, must be exceptionally devastating for the families, school and community. It’s quite moving to hear that your country declares a mourning day.

Oh my goodness @Ante1, that is truly awful news. I cannot believe how the family of that little one will be feeling at this time - when it is supposed to be so joyous. I also feel so sorry for the family of the mentally ill person who carried out such an horrendous action. It is so so sad @Ante1 and I will be thinking of all involved.

Doc was great this morning. Nothing of any great concern and I told her I was quite happy to just carry on using the over the counter medications when needed. I did get into Aldi - which was actually quite quiet. Got a tiny bit of food shopping done and then managed to get rid of all my dead batteries. As I returned home the rain started in earnest and I was pleased I had taken my umbrella with me.

Glad it was a good doctor visit, @Ladybird4.

We've had a good day. After the frost the sun came out and it was a beautiful day. We went to a small town in southern Dordogne, Le Bugue, as there is a very good wine shop there. We bought 24 bottles then went to look for a restaurant. We found one run by a friendly husband and wife. The wife was the cook and the meal was delicious, well flavoured and cooked but not fine dining. Le Bugue is nearly an hour and a half away but, despite being winter, the countryside was looking lovely.

Sounds as though you got a great selection of wine there @Busy-Lizzie. Is this for the festive season and are you bringing some back to England when you return?

I'll take a couple of bottles to my daughter and we'll take some to England. We bought some Pécharmant, a local red around Bergerac; some white Bergerac, also fairly local; and some Chardonnay.

Winter solstice today. At 08:08 is the important moment when the sun rises and from today the daylight starts to lengthen. I've had enough of the dark mornings - still can't see what the weather is doing outside.

Good morning Liz and all to follow.
Sunny and calm, but very cold morning. I can see snow very near to the town. Max will probably enjoy this afternoon, because we will go to the cottage and walk in the woods. It's dry so cats are playing outside.
Wish you all a nice day.
