    Good morning everyone!!

We are also being battered by strong violent winds. It was very precarious riding with Fizz yesterday afternoon - impossible to go out in the morning. @Ante1 Take a photo of the sea. It must be really rough!

I hope you all have a pleasant day!!

Good morning all, the wind has dropped mostly but I wish the rain would go too! I think i can see some sun to the north though. I have two Collared doves sitting in the rain in the ground feeder which is empty! I'd better go and do some replenishing!
Take care everyone when you are out and about and have a lovely day catching up with friends.

Amazing pictures @Ante1! @floralies I have two big fat wood pigeons who sit on the fence near one of my feeders. They just wait patiently for all the seeds 'discarded' by the little birds then fly down to scoop them up.

I've just read a heart warming story in the local paper. A pensioner bought a pretty piece of land in north Dordogne to have a small wooden house built for him. He ordered it from a company and paid them a deposit of 34,000€. The company took the money and disappeared. He was distraught and had to buy a little caravan to live in. The locals got to hear about it and launched an appeal. People donated money and materials and 20 villagers got together to build him a little wooden house. It has just been completed apart from some finishing touches and he is delighted. The villagers have all got to know each other and become friends.

Oh @Busy-Lizzie, that wonderful story did bring a tear to my eye. It just restores one's faith in humanity. There are so many unsung heroes who quietly do their 'stuff' without recognition. A lovely Christmas tale for sure.

It's sunny here today and the wind has dropped at last. I've been busy with the next stage of the bone marrow soup - it's a messy business s I don't think I'll be doing it again. Penicillin chicken soup is much less bovver.

I need to start on the tree today and this evening we're off out to the cinema to see Conclave.

@Ante1 I like seeing the sea all excited, as long as I don't happen to be in a boat. Recent storms along our bit of the Atlantic coast have done some serious re-arranging of sandy beaches and dunes.

Lovely story @Busy-Lizzie. I hope your shopping goes well. I just need a few more fresh veggies which will be fun. After a very soggy autumn, I only have Swiss chard left in the garden and some teeny kale not ready yet.

@Ladybird4 sounds like a good day of chat and treats.

Have a good time everyone, whatever you're doing, especially if working.

Very still here, thank goodness. Rain forecast later.
We have a booking at our local with my cousin and her hub at 6.30. They put a notice up on FB to say they are closing at 7. I rang them and the person answering appeared not to even find the booking, but insisted 'it'll be fine!' It didn't fill me with confidence!
Enjoy your day on the Wirral and time with friends @Ladybird4
Lovely story @Busy-Lizzie, but I hope the people who stole his money get just desserts.

                    Good morning,

The weather is much calmer today and so far it’s dry if rather grey. I got up early this morning (for me, that is - it was still dark ) and we braved the supermarket to purchase the last few bits. They’d been open since 5 am, but there was no way I was going then. Good for the folks going on to or back from work, though. Not so good for the supermarket staff (and it’s only closed Christmas Day). I shan’t be venturing anywhere near until well after Christmas now.

When I got back, I fettled downstairs and shortly will tackle the ironing.

Some good photos this morning - that water looks bleak @Ante1.

What a lovely story @Busy-Lizzie, there are many kind hearted people in the world.

Anyone travelling, enjoy your travels and I hope the roads aren’t too busy.

Good afternoon everyone! Still raining here, and everything is very soggy, but we are promised some better weather for the next three days. It'll be very welcome!

I had to venture out with my shopping trolley to get more milk (no milkman here, sadly), and some sprouts and fruit. Got a bit wet, but I'm prepared to believe Dr Michael Mosley that walking in the rain is good for the immune system and for lowering stress. Plus it gave me the opportunity to enjoy the song thrush's singing, from a tree on my route. (No point in taking the car, anyway, because I'd have got wet going the few metres from one shop to another.)

I think I mentioned that the new supplier I'd tried for sunflower hearts, had put a free gift in with them - a suet & mealworm block. The robin now sits on the lowest blackthorn branch in the hedge next to the lid I use to put the crumbled suet on, when I go out to fill the feeders. He sings his sub-song under his breath, waiting for me to put out his food.

Hope you all have a good afternoon and evening.

Good afternoon everyone. I had a most wonderful time today and it was so lovely seeing ex colleagues - some of whom I've not see for 20+ years. Lots of funny tales about our early days as teachers and some of the characters we have taught. Such a lovely time reminiscing. Cricket was waiting patiently for his tea - an hour later than normal and he is now curled up asleep beside me. I don't think I will be too late going to bed today. All that nostalgia has worn me out.
Hope @Obelix-Vendée got the tree sorted and is looking forward to enjoying the film.
Well done @Blue arbour and @Liriodendron for braving the SM shopping trips. @Penny_Forthem I do hope the booking is safe and that you enjoy the meal and the company.

Just back from the supermarket. Wasn’t as bad as I had feared. We managed to park right outside the door, I think a lot of drivers were panicking and squeezing into the first vacant spot they saw. We held our nerve and drove past, and there were several prime spots near the store. OH was able to connect to the wifi, and kept himself entertained in the car while I trundled round with the trolley. Got everything on my list, plus a few things that I got tempted by! I’m fairly confident that I have almost everything I need to feed the visitors next weekend as well, generous use by dates on nearly everything, and room in the freezer for the rest.
Phew! Christmas celebrations can start now! Had a glass of wine with dinner, we have watched a tv program ( Marlow Murder Club, something we both enjoyed and neither had seen before- how rare is that?)
Hope everyone is able to start winding down for the holiday. Before I retired, I tried very hard not to work on Christmas Eve. Very depressing to have people turning up with toothache, expecting to have it cured by the next day. Especially when they had been suffering for weeks. If only they’d come in earlier. I frequently worked the emergency clinic on Boxing Day morning though. Very satisfying, very grateful patients, and home in time for a late lunch of cold turkey, almost better the day after!
It’s been very cold here today, but will supposedly be warm and overcast tomorrow. Tempted to schedule in a decent walk. Take care, all.

@Ergates, I have read The Marlow Murder Club and it is along the lines of Richard Osman's Thursday Murder Club. I found both very enjoyable. Well done on getting the shopping complete. I am now at the stage of thinking if I ain't got it I'll manage without. Nice to be on top of it all though.

Good evening, well we survived the SM marathon. After collecting the pre-ordered Turkey crown we then did the rest. It was an M&S and absolutely manic. We also went to a W'rose which was much calmer. The problem welith our family is they have lots of allergies, so we can't always get everything suitable in just one shop.
All done now but I agree if we haven't got anything now it's fine we'll manage.
