Happy Christmas to you all, and a Happy Birthday to @Ladybird4.
A very quiet morning here. We both woke in the night, and then slept till well past 9am.
Just the two of us today, so having a relaxing breakfast before tackling Christmas dinner. I have put the whipped cream on the trifle, plus maraschino cherries on top, looks very pretty! Worst job will be cutting the turkey crown in half! I’ll cook one half today, and the second half will go into the freezer for New Year.
Hope everyone has the best Christmas possible.

Merry Christmas everyone and Happy Birthday @Ladybird4.

Remember the happy times with your Mum @Penny_Forthem.
I'm trying to do the same as it's the first Christmas without my younger brother. Feels rather strange not to be able to ring him.

We've just enjoyed our Xmas lunch - and the fizz. No disasters this year so all is well. Now it's feet up time and most probably a little snooze.

Thinking of @AuntyRach and all others working in hospitals, hospitality and the emergency services - couldn't do without you so thank you.

Work was ok! Tomorrow may be a bit more hectic though!

I hope you have all had an enjoyable day.

I’m keeping ‘Call The Midwife’ to watch over the weekend but will stay up for ‘Gavin and Stacey’.

                  Night night x

I hope everyone has had a good Christmas and that you, @Ladybird have had a good birthday.
We’ve had a nice day, visiting family this morning after church and then coming back to enjoy dinner at home. What I hadn’t anticipated was knocking over a half glass of red wine (surprising how far it goes :frown:). Anyway, top and bottom of it was it spilt onto the light coloured carpet in the dining room, splashed on the dining chair next to mine and along the painted wall. :gaah:. So, I spent the next hour cleaning it all up. Luckily I’ve got a carpet shampooer, and it seems to have done the trick. I’ll see how it dries as I might need to do it again, but :fingers crossed: it should be ok. A bit of elbow grease and washing up liquid seems to have sorted the wall out and the chair upholstery seems ok. However, it’s not quite how I planned Christmas evening . Hey ho, these things come to try us.
I’ll catch up with Call The Midwife tomorrow @AuntyRach.

Good morning all. Today is the day I will open all my gifts so I will look forward to that very much. Yikes @Blue arbour, as you said, not the sort of Christmas Day you were expecting. I hope that your carpet is fine this morning and you don't have to get the carpet shampooer in action again.
It is very misty outside today. Hope its not too frantic for you at work today @AuntyRach.

Good morning everyone!! A Happy Belated Birthday Wish to you @Ladybird4

Thick fog and 1°C this morning!! The sun is now coming up and the fog has gone. I have my nurses neighbour's dog coming "en pension" - they are gong to Thailand for 10 days. They deserve it - overworked as usual. So I'm happy to do it. He's such good boy and gets on well with Fizz (as long as she is the boss!!). He'll follow whatever she does - on the bike or otherwise.

I wish you all a restful Boxing Day after yesterday's festivities!!

                          Good morning all.

We had a good time yesterday at my elder daughter's and her family. My elder son was here too with his family and wife. Younger daughter and son and their families are coming today. This old French farmhouse will be bursting at the seams!

I didn't drink any alcohol last night and slept much better.

I hope the wine stains come out @Blue arbour. When OH did that I had to paint the wall, but it was mat paint so it absorbed the wine .

                              Morning all.
@Blue arbour , a friend of ours once knocked over a glass of red wine over our cream carpet, I was mortified but she quickly took a load of kitchen roll, placed over the areas where the red was, and then proceeded to kneed ( well) the kitchen roll into the stain. She did this multiple times, with fresh paper, over and over again, took ten minutes or so but eventually all the red wine was sucked up into the paper, the area also dried out towards the latter stages of doing this, and by the end, the red wine had disappeared. Miracle. No rings left, no stains.
I used this trick just the other week when a grandchild split cola juice over our sofa. Big dark stain, so out came the kitchen roll and it worked its magic again. No detergents, stain remover stuff required. Just plain old kitchen roll paper. Think the trick is to do it immediately before it dries.

Morning all and belated birthday greetings @Ladybird4!
We are sitting in fog yet again and no sign of the sun to clear it. We were trying to remember when we last had a sunny day.
Some of you from the old GW may remember that my son had covid very badly before the vaccinations were made and he was in ITU for two months and they didn't think he would survive, well he has just been discharged by the respiratory team as he is within normal ranges for his age and height, now he just has to get his fitness level back up! That was a really good Christmas present for us!
Now, no more throwing of wine about you lot :heehee:
