Good morning all. @PatE I am sorry to hear about the troubles you are undergoing at the moment and hope that things settle soon for you.
@Ante1 I was quite surprised to see your snowy pictures. I had a rubbish night's sleep last night but did managed to get a lot more reading done. The usual rain falling here when I wanted to get my cowslips into the ground. I might still do the planting when the rain is not so heavy as at least it will save me having to water them in! And it isn't snow! :)

      Good morning all :coffee1:
6C and dry out there … and apparently we might even get some sunshine before the showers which are due mid afternoon.
For some reason I was wide awake in the wee small hours, but thankfully I got back to sleep again.

      Choir this afternoon :)
Have a good day everyone… :spinning:

        Good morning all

chocolate and orange is a marriage made in heaven @AuntyRach I have made bread and butter pudding with panettone, but hcb will work as well. Infact the ones I bake go stale quicker than the bought ones so that is something I will have to do.

@Liz sorry that your brother has not improved and now the dreadful time of separation has arrived for your Sil. This is, I think, a friendly chat like we had in GW, you do not bother us at all with updates. Who hasn't difficult moments in their life? I missed a TV prog last night about end of life care, Kate Garraway's final documentary about her husband who caught Covid and died 4 years later. I hope your brother is looked after well. Best wishes.

Grey and mis here, so I will stay in and bake those HCB.

          Good morning everyone!

Cold here too @Ante1 We had storms yesterday with much needed rain. Today, the sun is shining but it is back to winter weather!!

So so sorry to read about your brother @lizzie27 and your sister @PatE It seems that both are in the best of care. Tender thoughts for both of them.

I want to make hot cross buns for the simple reason they are unobtainable here in France. Not even in the international sections at the SM. Slack lot! :chicken: As I am on the sourdough bread lark at the moment, I thought there must be a way to use the discard levain and make hot cross buns.
          Starting this evening.

Markets for eggs etc. this morning as Good Friday, I am spending with my friend from Montpellier, in Sète at a marine festival. Here is the site: Escale à Sète 2024 Fête des Traditions Maritimes

Hopefully the weather is clement. And hopefully your weather is clement for today, folks!

Did not scroll down enough so did not see your post @PatE. Sorry about your sister, try phone again, your niece although "difficult" might actually be very stressed at the moment. Phone again in a few days' time to ask for a phone number of the home, at least you don't have to go through her for news. Best wishes.

@lizzie27 I am so sorry that I missed your post. I must remember to look back before posting. I was saddened to hear of your brother and it resonated so much with me as I lost my beloved youngest brother last November.
Please don't even think about NOT posting here. All through that final year of my brother's life - and he was thousands of miles away from me in Australia - the people on GW never knew how much they buoyed me up and when the inevitable finally happened, that was when I told them how much they helped me cope through it all. I will be forever grateful to them - my extended family in a sense.

                  Morning all,

Sorry to hear about your brother @lizzie27 and your sister too @PatE . Life is tough sometimes.

I'm getting better, but not as fast as I'd like, I think I'll stay off work again, not something I like doing but I can see the sense in it.

I might try and read my book club book and possibly try and sort out my pension, although that just seems to be too daunting, I wish I could just ring a man to do it for me, they're all over the place and I just want it all in one place.

                  We'll see.

Have a good day all, I was hoping to make HCB too but that seems a stretch too far as well, maybe by Friday. Send any spares over please.

There was a joyous little story on the Beeb this morning about a refuge centre that took in what they thought was a baby hedgehog. Turned out it was the bobble from a bobble hat! It did bring a smile to my face.

@Tui34 I had a look at the marine festival pages. My goodness but they have a lot going on. I have to confess that my French is not brilliant but I will enjoy working my way through the itinerary and getting it translated.

                        Good morning all.
A lovely sunny morning and 6c after 9 hours of rain.
                        Sympathies to @lizzie27 and @PatE.
Yet again I won’t be able to get on the garden (or should I say swamp) before the next lot of rain that’s due at noon.
I will colour my roots (that’s hair not plant) instead.
                        Enjoy your day

                          Good morning everyone.

So sorry to read your sad news @lizzie27 and @PatE. You're going through terribly tough times, don't be afraid to express your thoughts and fears, most of us understand what you must be going through.

The sun has popped it's head out, it makes such a difference. Still no sign of Victoria and Lily (aka Victoria Rhubarb and Lily of the Valley), hope to see them poking through the soil pretty soon. I feel a warm couple of days could result in the garden exploding.

Don't know who first said “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.” but I bet they were a gardener.

                          Have a good day x

                            Good morning all.

It's sunny outside, a surprise as I thought they'd said it would rain all week.

We were up earlier than usual as the septic tank man came and there isn't a problem any more :hapydancsmil: He said I must have dislodged whatever it was with the plunger and he thought it was the downstairs shower as it hadn't been used for several months. We use the upstairs bathroom, which has a shower over the bath, in winter as it's warmer there.

He also has a digger and does foundation works, driveways etc. He said he has this week free and he's starting a big job for 2 months on Monday so he's gone off to fetch some hoggin with his lorry and he'll start repairing the drive today. Hurray! Ever since the huge cement lorry came to concrete the open barn floor in July 2021 the drive has been in a bit of a state which has got worse with all the rain. Chap is going to resurface it with clay gravel. I've tried at least 4 different companies but in the end they all said they hadn't time. They can't get workmen and there is too much work. Everyone tries to go to Uni nowadays and there is a huge shortage of builders, plumbers, electricians etc.

Morning everyone. After a wet night (5mm in the rain gauge) it's sunny now, and all sparkly with raindrops on everything. Sadly no gardening for me because I'm working in a bit after I finish my tea ☕.
