When I am at at the cash desk of a plant shop I have this urge to look into other people's trolleys. Why? I don't do it at the supermarket. Please help doc.

      good morning all

weather is not good, very windy with showers. Went to sm to get our Easter shopping and we looked into 3 supermarkets before finding the lamb we wanted. Aldi didn't have any. I could have done without but OH wouldn't budge. In the end we found some Irish lamb. Very expensive, like everything nowadays. Once a year ....

My hot cross buns are delicious but my crosses always sort of disappear. I use water and flower and it seemed thick enough. Oh well OH has already eaten 3 since yesterday.

Have all a nice day and happy Easter preparations if you do any.

Lucky you - love a trip to the Island.

chucking it down and cold - won’t be venturing outside in this. Ducked out of West Dean today as still feeling a bit delicate.

A day of house clearing instead - visitors coming for the Easter weekend, so time to give the place a spruce. 11 for dinner on Easter Sunday so need to get the emergency chairs out too.

Met Jay Blades from the Repair Shop as he stays at West Deannwhen they are filming, and roams the grounds whilst yakking on his phone in his spare time. One of my fellow volunteers approached him to say hello and he was charming - even recorded a little video message for her grandson. His autobiography is well worth a read too - very interesting life he’s had :wow:

Thursday, 8Am. rained all night, about 40 degrees. Gray skies now.

Opening day of then new Grocery Outlet store, 3 mins from me, so going to see what they carry, they needed one down in that area. Have some stuff to buy anyway.

Other things, just house stuff etc. Take care all. Have a grand day.

              Good afternoon everyone!

After a very sultry morning!! the sun as made an appearance and it's turning out to be a nice day. Just as well - I hung out a load of washing at 8am. Then I start fossicking around the garden and there and then - in my jammies and dressing gown, I spent 30 minutes weeding a herb garden and felt very smug about this exploit. After the heavy rain, it was really strike while the iron is hot, as the ground becomes cement.

Lamb on spesh at Lidl here. Small legs of lamb 1.2kg for 12.99/kg. But you have yours now and I'm sure it will be delicious!! Carrefour Market had a special on them too.

Keep persevering @PatE When you are on the home page, you need to scroll up until you see Off Topic Conversations - or just click on your "Alerts" and you will see if anyone has "liked" your post - then click on that.

Went to see my Dr this morning for a repeat prescription - she takes my BP which is still high around the 150 mark. Although I don't eat a lot of salty food and I don't have a sweet tooth, I do like my Marmite toastssss in the morning. I didn't bother to explain what Marmite is as the French do just NOT get it. It could be this that is making my BP high. She has upped the dosage of medication and I will see what happens if I ease up on the Marmite!! Meanwhile ........

My levain is waiting for me to prepare the hot cross bun dough. The raisins are soaked through, so I will get onto that now. The conservatory is lovely and warm!! In which..... the first of my hot peppers have surfaced!!! I was getting a bit worried there as I sowed them on the 6th March.

Today being the 28th March the expression for today is:
Le temps de Saint Gontran, voit l'hirondelle arrivant

I hope they arrive after their long voyage and rest here!! Have a lovely day!!

                  Good afternoon all,

At the moment it is dry here, but chilly, windy and cloudy with outbreaks of sunshine. I’m hoping it stays dry long enough for the washing to dry (which it almost is).

I’ve just finished marzipanning the simnel cake, so it’s all ready now. I really shouldn’t indulge as I have to watch my cholesterol, but a little piece won’t hurt, I’m sure. OH will probably eat most of it :).

I’ve got some lamb in the freezer. The intention was to have it on Easter Sunday, but we’ve since been invited to lunch with family, so it will save for another occasion.

I enjoy The Repair Shop, and find the back stories very interesting and frequently very moving.

I hope the weather improves enough for you to get out and do some gardening during your Easter break @Ante1, but baking Easter biscuits sounds a good plan - you’ll have to send us all some to sample with a cup of tea :hapydancsmil:.

I look sometime in both places. Then I might say something. Like for instant in the supermarket if I see a product of interest, I ask them, have you tried that before? how is it? But, you know that is me---chatting it up. At the plant shop, I may also. "Wow, nice plant, I have one like that." or something close to it. Maybe its different out here in the country, never had anything but nice responses.

Wish husband liked lamb. No clue what I will make for Easter Sunday. I do have two lamb chops in the freezer, so maybe thaw for me, and make something for him. Got a bag of New Potatoes from the Amish market yesterday. Anyway. whatever.

No snow here in East Devon, but torrential rain and a hailstorm as well. The usual puddle on the patio is as big as I’ve ever seen it, but luckily, it will start running down the path before it starts to bother the wall of the house. There was also a big rumble of thunder.
We are having turkey for Easter lunch, I bought two turkey crowns for Christmas, as I didn’t know when the family would be coming. We ate the bigger one at Christmas, I cut the smaller one in two, we had half at New Year, and the other half went in the freezer for Easter.
Hope you didn’t overspend in the new supermarket, @redstar, I always get carried away in unfamiliar shops, different things to tempt me!
I thought we might pop into the nearby town this afternoon to collect my prescription, and maybe get some hot cross buns in the supermarket, which has an in store bakery. Probably not a good idea though, as the road is prone to flooding - as is the supermarket! Last huge rainstorm ( in September) they had to close the store to mop out the floors. We have some hot cross buns I bought on Tuesday, despite OH’s efforts there are still some left for tomorrow.
