I will be. I'm hoping they're all seduced to our garden by the smorgasbord (or should that be smorgasbird?) of birdie treats!
Sad news for your coffee morning companion.

That is a worry @Goldenlily26 but, at that age, you're right to leave her alone and treat the symptoms to make her comfy. My two, 8 and a half now, are due their jabs on Tuesday and Cosmos will be booked in for his annual echocardiogram to check on his heart murmur.

Meanwhile, our white hens are filthy. Between dust bathing in the polytunnel and fossicking about in the mud and gloop outside they are not very white but are happy and clucky.

@NigelJ Yuk and double yuk! In the late 70s I used to buy egg mayo sandwiches from a Polish chap at Ealing Common station. They had so much black pepper in they looked grey but tasted fab. I only ever use tomato ketchup to make a bbq sauce or sticky glaze or spiced up mayo for dipping prawns or squid rings.

I'm so sorry about your friend @Ladybird4 but I do thing cake and coffee go a long way to lifting the spirit and hope they work for you all tomorrow.

My exercise today @lizzie27 has been up and down the garden to do chooks as OH left at 8 this morning when it was still dark and then they need their daily pm treat and then putting to bed at dusk. Squelched all the way so definitely no gardening. I've also been up and down stairs umpteen times fetching this and that to take legs off the bookcase so it'll go through the door, fill and sand holes, cover the remaining furniture and start cutting in. Good knee workout.

Feeding the birds is expensive here too @Penny_Forthem and they've gone thru 20 fat balls since Monday as well as the ground food. I like my Chinese spicy too and always use lots of ginger. Can't be doing with bland Cantonese.

Chicken curry tonight but I haven't decided between mild and creamy or bright and spicy.

We are back from Avery Hill Uni Campus. The journey there and back started and finished in fog and frost, but London had sunshine and blue sky, 7C. The journey went very well, we took the Blackwall Tunnel instead of the Dartford Tunnel and it was much quicker and easier than we expected. We had a very good and very cheap lunch in a nearby café then went to collect Liam's key. His room is small but has everything he needs and there is a communal spacious kitchen/dining/sitting room. It's in a block of student flats. There is a big student room in another block, with a café and snooker table, a laundrette, a shop and a gym. There is also a huge park next door full of grass and trees.

@Anna42 PatE posted recently on a jigsaw puzzle site. I could try sending her a message.

@Ladybird4 meringues are acceptable! not slimey or rubbery like egg whites.

Glad you had a good journey @Busy-Lizzie. Hope Liam settles in quickly and gets on well with his fellow students.

It would be nice to know that PatE is ok, so thanks.

Sorry to hear that Poppy is unwell. One of our cats developed a tumour in her mouth. She wasn’t young, so we kept her going while she was still active and enjoying her food, then spared her any further discomfort. I don’t think heroic treatment is always fair to older pets, especially if the outcome is uncertain. At least a human will understand that the suffering will hopefully be temporary, and can make their own choice. So sad for you so soon after losing Rob. I do feel for you, @Goldenlily26.
I’m sure Liam will have a lot of fun, @Busy-Lizzie. It’s great if there is on site student accommodation, not too common in London.
I bought a frozen chocolate cake in Ikea this week, @AuntyRach. I managed to cut it into portions before putting it in the freezer, so I can just get out what I need. I had a slice tonight with ice cream, very gooey!
It’s been much milder here today, it’s 6C this evening and we are planning to go out in the morning.

A very good morning all. I'm just awaiting the arrival of Andrew, today's delivery driver. It is much milder today at 0°C and the rain last night has cleared a lot more of the lying snow. Sounds very nice for Liam @Busy-Lizzie, with everything he needs as he settles into what will surely be an exciting time for him. I remember it well - a bit fuzzy round the edges though!

Good morning all. Hurray @Ladybird4, we have the same temperature. Sunny and calm morning, but very cold. Tomorrow we should have another episode of snow and high wind, luckily short one. Pets and birds are fed, and now is my turn for cup of tea. Another indoor day, but I have few houseplants to repot.

That has just reminded me @Ante1, as I have several succulents that need to go into bigger pots. That task can go on the list! I decided to wash some curtains yesterday and as I took them down most of the plastic curtain hooks and the plastic runners on the rail just snapped. They have become brittle with age. Luckily I do have plenty of replacements but is a fiddly job which will probably take most of the day once I get back from the coffee morning. Deep joy!

                        Good morning all.

There is a big frost outside.

Church this morning, coffee and cake or biscuits (depends on who is doing teas) after the service.

Then we will have a quiet day, but I must put a load of washing on.

Good morning all, the weather has changed! It's our turn to have the very cold! OH has broken the ice on the bird bath, I don't think the blue tits fancied skating this morning! The smaller birds are going mad for the fat blocks and balls and the collared doves are trying to chase them away from the ground feeder that isn't covered by a cage. Nothing planned for the day, OH will be watching the snooker. Next door's cat has come and made himself comfortable in the sun on the sofa. This is his second home, as we feed him when his owners are away!

Frost here too @floralies and lovely and sunny. Not a gardening day. I've been lazing about reading and then made a week's supply of high protein keto muffin thingies for Possum's breakfasts and am now just having a cuppa before going to do a coat of paint on the walls.

I hope Liam makes some friends and enjoys his studies @Busy-Lizzie

I am hopeful that the snow will all be gone by tomorrow. Managed to put all the new bird feeders out and refill the best of the old ones. Birds have studiously ignored them!
Is this a 'placement' (for want of a better word) @Busy-Lizzie? You mentioned Poitiers and with this not being the start of the academic year, I did wonder... I hope he settles well.
We both enjoyed our Chinese and have enough for supper tomorrow (good job the grandkids aren't coming, though!).
                              Must finalise tomorrow Tesco order.

Afternoon folks. Visited MIL and then niece (Birthday cake gathering). I’m just settling down for some puzzles (logic puzzles) and relax before dinner prep. I’m not doing a chicken dinner tonight as we’ve had chicken the last two nights and I fancy an easy/ freezer meal - maybe pie? Back a bit easier today and the Ibuprofen gel seems to working the best currently.

I hope everyone is doing ok with their various indoor jobs.
