We arranged to meet a friend at Wisley @Obelix-Vendée and @Tui34 some years ago. We were stuck in traffic for nearly 3 hours. We rang our friend who had already seen all she wanted to see at Wisley so she went to a friend of hers nearby who had a lovely garden that she opened to the public with the NGS and we met both of them after we had seen Wisley. All good as we got to see another garden and were given a delicious home made tea! On on way here from Portsmouth earlier this month we drove past Wisley, huge road works going on.

We went out to our nearest SM this morning for a few things, still no Seville oranges. Just seen that the MaMade that I bought needs 1.8kg of sugar and I don't have enough. Postponed again!
Cutting back the honeysuckle is postponed too as it's been so cold and gloomy outside that I didn't feel like it.

Can you kneel to paint the skirtings @Obelix-Vendée? I thought kneeling was still painful.

One of my cousins is having/has had a knee replacement operation today. I'm not sure what material his knee is made from @Obelix-Vendée.

Glad to be home! It’s crazy in work and my back is not enjoying that.

Nipped to Diddly-Dee on way home for an easy to make tea of tempura chicken and salad bits.

Have a lovely evening folks - the weekend is here!

          Been such a busy day.
Cousin came for lunch (HM leek and potato soup) then hub and I went shopping.
Now contemplating the tapas menu for tonight (at the local). It's a sell out, so I just hope they can cope.
          Let me find the menu

@Busy-Lizzie I can kneel on a cushion or mattress but not a yoga mat or harder surface so skirtings, bottoms of walls and doors are done parked on my bum. When I first asked for a new knee @Ladybird4 my GP told me I was too young as they only lasted 10 years. That was 6 or 7 years ago. The upgrade to titanium means they'll outlast me.

I've usually visited Wisley in Chelsea week, on the way back to Dover and leaving West Ealing at about 9:30 to miss the worst of the traffic. I would love to go to Bridgewater if the opportunity arises.

I hope you can rest your back this weekend @AuntyRach.

Sausages for dinner, lovely pork and herb ones made by the butchers at the SM. Roast cauli and shallots to go with and some gravy of some sort. Forgot to get some potatoes out of our store and it's too cold and dark now.

Have a lovely evening everyone and stay tucked up warm and safe.

How absolutely scrumptious @Penny_Forthem. I think that is a very good price too.

Hi everyone, we managed a couple of hours in the garden yesterday, today we went into London again V&A this time. We're trying to make more use of our travel passes when the weather is not so good, living on the outskirts of London is expensive so we're determined to make use of it when we can.

Your post was very interesting reading @Obelix-Vendée. I would leave visiting Bridgewater for a few more years. It will give some of the plants time to mature. It is still beautiful though.

I'd have difficulty choosing from that lot @Penny_Forthem. Except for the aubergine and chorizo I'd be happy with all of those.

We've booked this for lunch tomorrow - La Carte - La Boussole à la Rochelle

I'd make use of a travel pass to @Allotment Boy. So much I'd want to see. I've no idea if they have them here but I do know buses and trams are free on Saturdays as well as park and ride parking in bigger towns.

@Allotment Boy, I make good use of my travel pass. No worrying about car parking or traffic difficulties. I think its great. Because I live in Greater Manchester, I can travel on the trains and trams too - within the county boundaries - for free. Very handy when travelling further as there is a direct route to Manchester airport.

Forgot to say, my wife saw that feature on Wisley, apparently the RHS are trying to claim compensation from the Highways Agency for lost income. Certainly we have avoided it for the past year, but there is a new entrance link now which saves you a difficult , on and straight off the A3 as we used to have to do.

We visited Bridgewater last summer. It was more interesting that our first visit as they have done more of the landscaping and planting in the Oriental/woodland garden but agree it still needs some time to mature. The food offering was pretty poor on our visit, not much choice and what we had was poor quality. I wondered if they used the same catering offer as the National Trust. We did quite a few of their gardens last year, making the most of GW 2for 1 card, the food offering was almost identical in every property and mediocre quality at best. I remember when NT cafes were an added enticement to visit - not cheap but lovely food and cakes
