@Penny_Forthem, you’ve reminded me that we have a small piece of the Berlin Wall, gifted to my daughter by a German friend. It’s been sitting in a cabinet for years, but while I was thinking about your Roman tile, and how to display it, it occurred to me that I could do the same with our ‘relic’. I’m thinking of mounting it in one of those square box type frames, and then it could go on the wall, and probably go home with daughter on her next visit. It looks like a trip to ikea next week. I also have a poster brought back from Lisbon that I want to frame.

Morning everybody, brilliant sunshine and blue skies here but it's cold. I've just checked the weather forecast and most of UK is going to have snow from Sat for 3 days! Eek! Not going anywhere, don't 'do' snow at all and hate the cold.

Quite excited to read that they've just found the UK's biggest dinosaur footprints in an Oxfordshire quarry - they're huge and 3 m apart. Wouldn't have liked to meet one of them.

Think I'll take down the Xmas decs today.

      Have a good day all.

I saw that item @lizzie27 and was very impressed at the size of the footprints. One of my identical twin great nieces is studying Archaeology at Durham so I'm sure she will be very interested in watching the programme about it - Digging for Britain (next Wednesday I believe.) I have washed all my Christmas jumpers and they are on the line in the frosty sunshine. I really like it when my washing gets frosted.

            Good afternoon,
A beautiful day here, bitterly cold and frosty but with a lovely bright blue sky. Such an improvement on the damp, grey dismal weather of late. Will need to make the most of it though, as horrible snow is forecast for the weekend and into next week. It looks pretty in pictures, but not when it turns to slippy sludge. I’m not a fan of it really.
I’ve started taking some of the decorations down, but will leave the trees until 12th night. The lights bring some cheer at this time of year.

Hello all you lovely folk. Long time no speak - sorry. I have been reading all your posts but cannot seem to get this old laptop to get its act together and allow me to post - before I finish typing it cuts out and sends my half finished post off into outer space somewhere. So I gave up! Hoping this post will make it?
Health problems have caused some worries over the past few months but seem to be getting myself sorted now. The weeks over the Christmas period are pretty busy in our family as everyone seems to having a birthday - daughter 14th December, a friend on 22nd, me on the 27th (my 82nd, where have the years gone?), grandson on the 28th, friends on the 1st, 2nd, 5th and the 10th. Used to get a bit expensive when everyone was younger but now a simple card seems to suffice.
Any how, my reason for posting is to wish you all a very Happy, Healthy, Prosperous and Peaceful 2025. Keep posting my friends as I love keeping up with all your news.
OK going to push 'post' and keep my fingers crossed. xx

It’s icy windscreen season which adds an extra moan to my morning routine. I just hope we miss this forecast snow. Easy tea of leftover chicken tonight and then Traitors before bed.

I hope everyone is cosy and feeling well.

@AuntyRach. You may already know of this but I can absolutely recommend Prestone rapid de-icer. It works immediately and no scraping is required. I use it on my headlights too.

Glad you got your lights in before the serious winds have started @Ante1. I cannot believe how quickly time has gone by - with you lighting the Advent candles and the winter wheat being sown. I feel like I blinked and I missed it all! I am signing out for today so see you all tomorrow.

Indeed @Ladybird4, everything is passing by so quickly. As always I sown chilies and peppers on the first day of the year. It will be ready around mid March. I also bought myself a little present which will pay off in exactly one month. I was very surprised with this.

Good to hear from you, @Anna42.
Poor @AuntyRach, and anyone else having to go out in the cold. We’ve been privileged to have had a garage for the last thirty odd years, so at least we have been spared the early morning de icing task. Mind you, that has meant we have been occasionally caught out when going out for the day, and coming back to frosty windscreens. Have to remember to carry a can of de-icer and a scraper in the boot.
Early night for us. Tv and a book, tucked up in bed. Might even do some knitting! If I wake in the night, I must remember to look out for any shooting stars once the street lights have gone out.
