Grey and gloomy here too and I heard heavy rain during the night, haven’t checked the rain gauge yet.

Am envious of those who have been busy doing garden jobs, our garden is just too wet to get on with the jobs I want to do. I could give the GH its annual clean but enthusiasm (for that particular job hasn’t arrived yet). I don’t start any seed sowing until mid-March at the earliest so no deadline to spur me on.

Am not sure what we will get up to today. I will have another cup of tea whilst pondering my options. I may also need to concede defeat and consult the Housework for Idiots handbook

Sorry to hear your sad news @Goldenlily26 .
@Butterfly6 I know exactly what you mean, I had a good day on the Allotments yesterday, the first in ages, this constant dull often wet weather makes it hard to get going. Plenty to do here and on the plots but I expect it will get done in time when the weather picks up.

Hello all, The internet is playing up here which doesn't help my ancient laptop.
So sorry to hear your news @Goldenlily26 hugs.
Grey and cold as usual. there was a brief glimpse of sun earlier but that was it. OH is pottering outside trying to cut back a weedy vine thing that keeps growing through everything, why is it that these things survive the boggy garden! We will be so far behind in the garden this year unless the weather dries up. I have dead Penstemons sitting in water.

Another bad night. Becoming a pattern after yoga class but worse than usual last night and I can't think why. Doesn't help that both OH and then Cosmos pussy snored while Minstrel purred a lot, all snuggled up for warmth.

It is cold here and trying to be sunny but still far too wet and soggy to do any gardening and likely to stay that way for another week with frosts and more rain forecast so I shall concentrate on sewing and hope to have my decks cleared for sowing when conditions improve. Bought some shallots and garlic yesterday but need to weed and feed before I can plant them.

HW is all done as we cleaned and preened ready for the guests who didn't come. I might get around to some picture framing that needs doing. I don't understand aversions to HW - necessary evil, like regular weeding and path clearing that makes everything look and feel better before it gets out of hand.

I hope you're doing better now @floralies and that your power problems are over @Liriodendron. Commiserations to anyone else with storm damage.

Hugs for you @Goldenlily26 and anyone else bereaved or dealing with other great sadness or loss. Best wishes too for those recovering from illness or surgery.

Hope you find a good recipe @Busy-Lizzie.

My local Sainsburys has Seville oranges in. I think they were £3 for 1.5 kgs.

Sorry to hear of your loss @Goldenlily26. It is very hard to lose a sister.

Morning all. its Friday, about 9:30AM here.
@Goldenlily26 sorry to hear about your loss. Awesome memories you must have. Perfect way to leave this earth in her own home. Having a sister has to be so special.

Yep, back from Key West on Wednesday. Parking at the airport in Philly is nuts, sandwiched my car in a spot I thought it would get towed, but all well. Temps in KW nice, not to hot. Back to therapy for my wrist. Have been selling some stuff on Facebook Market place, meeting up with someone on Saturday to sell a vintage oil lamp. Too much stuff in the house. Also Saturday attending a Burns Party, same one i go to every year, past 5 or 4 years, see same faces etc. its a nice evening at a large mansion type setting. Bagpipes, Haggis, good dinner, desserts, whisky. and good conversation, best part 5 min drive from my house.

              Take care all.

                Good afternoon everyone,

It’s been a mostly grey, dank day here today. The sun made a brief attempt to break through a couple of hours ago but failed miserably.

I went to the hairdressers mid day, then we popped out for a light lunch. My plan had been to then tidy up a bit in the garden, but it’s just too cold and the ground is rather muddy underfoot, so I had a rethink and did some puzzles and watched a bit of tv instead.

I quite like housework, to be honest (apart from window cleaning, my pet hate). I even don’t mind ironing now I’m retired - used to associate it with going back to work Monday as it tended to be a Sunday afternoon chore. Now I do it as and when so it doesn’t build up (usually). I feel quite a sense of achievement when the place looks tidy and relatively dust free and surfaces look shiny. A never ending chore, I know, but keeps me out of mischief .

Sounds like you’ve had a nice holiday @redstar and have a Burns Night supper to look forward to tonight.

I've just found out that one of my wife's nieces in Australia has had a salvia named after her.
                  Search for Salvia Faye Shann.
I think it's only available in Australia though, at the moment.

The day has run away with me!
I didn't wake till gone 9, which meant we were later getting to our friend's for coffee (I did let her know!). We always have lots to chat about, so we were then late to go shopping. By that time, we realised we were hungry, so dropped into the local for lunch - a spicy lamb shawarma and couscous for me, bun-less burger for him).
Then the dogs needed their run and so the time for the garden evaporated into thin air.
Thank goodness we don't need much supper - ryvita thins and cheese will do for me.

Sorry you feel a bit unrested after your yoga class @Obelix-Vendée. My sleep patterns are also very haphazard. I seem to wake up at 03:00 ish most mornings. My plumber arrived on time after another phone call today. He was not alone and arrived with another man who I later found out was his brother. They were incredibly nice chaps and the best news is that the 'bubble in the coving was not due to a leak but to a retaining nail in the coving that had rusted and caused the paint on the coving to 'blister'. I cannot tell you how relieved I am. Replacing the mixer tap in the kitchen took a little more time but I now have a shiny new one - so much more elegant than the old one. Turns out that the brother is a builder and amongst his specialities does kitchens, so I can feel a job for him looming on the horizon as I have wanted a new kitchen for ages. I do need to get in touch with the people who serviced my boiler last year as apparently the condensate pipe might need looking at. These brothers do not deal with gas boilers.

Good evening all. Friday is almost over, and I have next seven days free of school. It was a bit grey today, and still warm, except in the hills. I was at cottage and planted two pear trees which I bought yesterday. Didn't read back because last two days were busy, hope you are all well.

We took the garden rubbish to the tip then went to Waitrose and bought lots of goodies, not our usual SM as too far.

Then we went to a very ancient pub in Wymondham, one of OH's favourites but not near enough to go often, only to find it had closed down. On the way home we passed by another old pub that we used to go to when OH had the previous cottage. We thought we'd have a beer but then we saw other people eating and looked at the menu so we had lunch. OH had prawn curry and I had gammon with pineapple, peas tomatoes and a mushroom. Huge helping of chips but I could only eat a few.
